Love ads that feature multiple models, I’m not a fan of one face campaigns, so naturally I’m really taken by this Balenciaga ad.

For the Spring 2010 Chanel ad campaign, Karl Lagerfeld used his fave faces, Baptiste Giabiconi (who wears a very Karl-inspired ponytail and ruffled shirt) alongside Freja Beha and Claudia Schiffer.

Kimmy Kar attempts to make salads sexy for Carl’s Jr. “I’m always down for a burger, I love them and I eat them, but this is the first commercial they’ve ever done for anything but a burger. The salads are healthy, and it totally fits what I’m about right now.” Puke!

Somewhere, somehow, someone’s offended right now.

But then you see the other monkeys, like balding white ape supremacist and rastarangatang and it’s all good. This is from ad agency out in someplace cooler than America. If I saw these in a magazine, i’d buy the product no questions asked, unless it was for monkey, I have little use for those and I’m sure their more into throwing poo than listening to Jay Z.

Awkward Beauty for Balenciaga Fall Campaign

Indie-fashion icon Charlotte Gainsbourg will be the face of Balenciaga for their fall collection. The ad which was shot in their Los Angeles store, features pieces from their resort and fall collections. Gainsbourg who is known for her distinctly French bohemian style, was transformed into a sleek yet awkward, futuristic shebot! I must say this is an improvement from the harsh Jennifer Connelly ads from last season.

Ad Appropriation or Stealing?

When Tom Ford released the ad campaign for his mens’ fragrance some were shocked, others who know him-not so much. The ad, as seen below, was shot by Terry Richardson and shows a model naked from the waist down with a perfume bottle hiding her privates. When I first saw the ad I wondered to myself ‘How did he come up with that idea?!’

Well I found the answer! This morning I was going through some of Guy Bourdin’s photos and couldn’t help but notice this one that looked curiously similar to the Tom Ford ads.

Now most would call this stealing, but because ads are considered a form of art we call it appropriation. Oh Tom, thanks for getting rid of the bush in your ad! Totally different!
