As separates I might actually like this.  I love her shorts, and the cropped tee isn’t bad (she can pull it off)..but combined with the boots? too much.

TRENDSPARK: Shaved Off Eyebrows all indie

Everyone at Fashion Indie either cut, dyed or planned a new hairdo this week. Because we all know I’ll probably never cut my hair, I jokingly said that my contribution to change would be to shave off my eyebrows. Joke or no joke, maybe this idea isn’t so far fetched. Not that I want to associate myself with Kim Kardashian, but she already did it and so did Adriana Lima! Besides, I certainly don’t want to follow the Alice Dellal bandwagon and shave half of my head!

If you’re looking to stand out, this certainly is a step in the right direction. My only question: how long does it take for eyebrows to fully grow back?

Thanks Jezebel!

Our favorite party girls have signed with Next modeling agency. The rumor on the catwalk was that they had been dropped from Select Model Management, but according to the girls nothings further from the truth. We’re looking forward to see what’s Next for these indies.

Scarlett Johansson is the New Face of Mango all indie Scarlett Johansson has been tapped as the new face of Mango. Interesting choice considering their last spokesperson was Alice Dellal. From punk to prim so soon? Sounds like Mango is trying to change their image, calling Johansson “the ideal Mango woman; chic, independent, and cosmopolitan.”

FIRST LOOK: Dominic Jones Lookbook emerging fashion

It’s safe to say that there’s not a bad piece in Dominic Jones’ most recent jewelry collection. Inspired by roses, Jones has some thorn and stem earrings, necklaces and rings up for grabs. My favorite piece, without a doubt, is the silver and gold finger-nailed driving gloves. The accessories might be fierce enough as they are, but models Alice Dellal, Eliza Cummings, Emma Chitty and Billy Howard make them that much more appealing.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles

This list was too big for just ten. Here’s 20 celebrity hairstyles that just bother us.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie

1. Kate Goesslin- I’m not really sure what she’s thinking with that little spike in the back. I mean, I know that it’s “her thing” but…why would you want that to be your thing?

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie2. Cassie/Carmen Electra/Amber Rose/Alice Dellal- Shaved heads on girls = not good, unless you’re a punk, which clearly, none of these girls are.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie3. Billy Ray Cyrus- This is better than the Achey Breaky mullet, but the whole surfer/highlights thing is trying a little too hard for a 47-year-old dad.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie4. Donald Trump- I don’t even know what is going on. How does he even get his hair like that?

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie

5. Amy Winehouse- The beehive was cool for like, a day, but as soon as Wino started falling apart, so did her hive.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie

6. Megan Fox at the MTV awards- I don’t even need to talk about this…this makes her head look so oddly shaped, it makes me laugh.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie7. Agyness Deyn- Sometimes I really like Aggy’s hair, sometimes I don’t. This looks a little Warhol, back to the drawing board for this mop-top

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie

8. Carrot Top- I know it’s natural, but this is a little too carrot-y and disheveled.  And wtf is up with his eyebrows?

9. Celebrity sons that look like daughters- Cindy Crawford’s son is literally the most beautiful kid I’ve ever seen, but his hair makes him look like a girl. Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker’s sons also look like they could be daughters. Haircuts, please.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie10. Betsey Johnson- I love her designs, but have always hated her hair.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie11. Robert Pattinson- Not my choice, I love him and his crazy hair, but I do agree, it’s a little too talked about.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie12. Rihanna- Time for a new hairstyle, please. I still like it, I always liked it, but it’s getting old.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie13. Victoria Beckham- She pioneered the bob, but that was years ago.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie14. Katie Holmes- Same story as the two above. Moving on.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie15. Zac Efron- The surf look is a little too grown out for Zefron, just a little bit shorter, please.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie16. Brett Michaels- I’m not sure what bothers me more, the fact that Brett Michael’s lips look like a woman, or that I can’t wear a headband or scarf around my head without being called Brett Michaels.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie17. Jethro Cave- Just a little too over the top. Corey, please don’t do this with your hair

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie18. Katy Perry- I loved Katy Perry’s hair long and curled. Grow it back out!

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie19. Adam Lambert- I know he’s trying to be the epitome of a ‘rock star,’ but scene kid hair is very 2006.  He probably takes longer to straighten and tease his hair than I do to shower and put on a full face of makeup.

THE TEN + TEN: Annoying Celebrity Hairstyles all indie20. J.Lo- Everyone’s saying it’s a wig, what do you think?

I’m prepared for the hate comments. Anyone you think we missed?

SPREAD UM: Alice Dellal for Metal magazinesSPREAD UM: Alice Dellal for Metal magazinesSPREAD UM: Alice Dellal for Metal magazinesAlice Dellal is “painting with all the colors of the wind” in this month’s Metal Magazine. With a spread shot by Quentin de Briey, Dellal opted for a bit of Pocahontas pow-wow, completely rocking out the ethnic Native American jewelry, distressed denim and tribal prints. Instead of going up the totem pole, Dellal kicked it up a few notches with the razor, shaving her head more than normal and giving off a mohawk war bonnet vibe. Metal couldn’t have picked a better model for this editorial!

War, Ugh, Yeah, What Is It Good For, Absolutely Nothin. (Except a Magazine) magazines

A new zine has just hit the innerwebs. It’s called War and it’s some luxury, high-concept forum that talks about Fashion, Culture, Gossip, Politics, and Opinion. So basically it sounds like something we’ve seen before, subscribed to, got tired of, and then stopped reading, eh? Hopefully it isn’t that predictable, but with stories on Thrash Metal and shoots featuring Alice Dellal (possibly a look-a-like), it might just become the alternative fashionistas online bible.

There first issue which is focused on “Beliefs” is on their website.

“The Alice Dellal” look inspired the Fall 09 ready to wear collection of Issa. Instead of shaving the models heads, an optical illusion was created with hair spray and bobby pins. Dellal walked with what looked to be a fresh shave on one side and a new dye job—with complimentary extensions—on the other. Love the new color!

Here we have exhibit A: Alice Dellal. Please notice the unflattering, shear dress, obviously requiring a full body wax. Dellal’s hair is stretigically thrown atop her head and in combination with the studded collar, it seems to me that someone was going for the mutt-at-the-pound look. Is it just me or does it look like the model/socialite is wearing tights? I guess we’ll never know, but one thing is for certain…Dellal didn’t win the 2009 Elle Style Awards.

Am I Seeing Double?

Am I Seeing Double? all indie

I’m starting to believe that everything that happens on one side of the fashion industry manages to reciprocate itself on the other. Though women’s fashion tends to get more attention in the world that is fashion, the hype is often carried over to the men’s side as well. It just occurred to me the other day that all the big familiar faces in fashion have their counter parts. Take Agyness Deyn, put her in men’s fashion and she’s Cole Mohr. Not that surprising, but I saw one that sort of caught me by surprise.

I have no idea who this guy is, but he is more or less the male version of Alice Dellal. I search far and wide but couldn’t find his name, but regardless I think all this back and forth of style just goes to show that the industry needs a new face who is going to change up the scene for everyone!

Fashion F*ck Ups: Jade Jagger, Alice Dellal and Pixie Geldo emerging fashion

Jade Jagger, Alice Dellal and Pixie Geldof showed at the 2008 British Fashion Awards looking like a trio of hot messes. I’m not exactly sure if Jagger is wearing an ill-fitting dress or an oversized silk coat. And the fake pearls aren’t working for me…it looks like a blind man threw them at you. I don’t exactly mind Alice Dellal’s outfit as much as I mind her half-shaved, half-hair-do. Pixie Geldof has resurrected the trashy clear-toed hooker heels and looks like she’s packing a lil’ sumthin-sumthin extra in her leggings. And is she wearing a metal top or a chain-link fence? Next time you attend a Fashion Award ceremony, you might want to try looking fashionable…

David Saunders, the artist and designer behind David David, recently featured in Fashion East, the London catwalk festival for emerging designers, decided to make this video with his prize money, instead of going the traditional route and using it to support a catwalk show.
Last year, David collaborated with Fred Perry’s ‘Blank Canvas’ project and House of Holland to inject some of what he calls his “zip, zest and joyous energy” (right bold colors and geometric influenced patterns).

Nylon got sample of David / David’s second collection ever, modeled by London party girl Alice Dellal.

Alice Dellal Refuses to Compromise emerging fashion

As much as I respect woman who refuse to compromise, sometimes it is a bit too much. Alice Dellal, unique model and Mango spokesperson, recently stated that she is not willing to change her hairstyle for any job. Her signature half shaved head has caused some controversy, her agency wanting to book jobs that require a do-over. What I don’t understand is, if you are in the modeling world, isn’t it a given that you have to morph and change your look based on who hired you at that time? Doesn’t a half shaved head limit your options?

What do you think indies? Should she change her hairstyle?

Bobby Gillespie plays a stealthy and stylish accessory to murder in Primal Scream’s video for their new single “Can’t Go Back”, directed by Kim Gehrig, in which models Lily Cole, Alice Dellal, Rosemary Ferguson and Kiera Gormley meet their ends in striking ways. “The idea behind the video was to create an Italian horror/Dario Argento-style film starring Bobby, this genre hasn’t really been explored in music videos before and it really worked with the track. In those kind of films, beautiful women always meet their deaths, and they always look amazing as they do so. The concept was for Bobby to be performing in a corridor of light, and as he travelled down it, different women would be murdered. In each colour a different death would take place and it would appear that he is somehow responsible. By the end, however, we realize he is not when Bobby is himself killed with a pick axe. I wanted the concept for each of the deaths to be very original, almost like the murderer was an artist creating images.”
