Traditionally, musicians have been involved in design for their band’s shirts by either doing it themselves or asking designers they like. Now the tables have turned and artist are creating their own fashion.

Co-curated by Hisham Bharoocha and Soundscreen Design, editions began in October 09, and will be released throughout 2010. All editions are extremely limited-edition (less than 100), printed on organic Alternative Apparel garments, and come with hand numbered hang tags noting edition and designer.

The Alternative Apparel collaboration with Richard Chai and Jeremy Scott will be available for purchase online tomorrow on Refinery29.com and will be available on the site exclusively through May 20th. The prices will range from $69 – $129.

Alternative Apparel launched their new Fall 2010 collection with a fashion show and party at their new downtown Los Angeles offices & showroom space, featuring a performance by The Walkmen and music by Brent Bolthouse.

Alternative introduced an eclectic collection of nostalgic pieces with a modern twist. Inspired by classic 1930s Americana and its wonderfully unique vaudeville culture, “The Show Must Go On” captures the sophisticated minimalism and enduring optimism of a bygone era. The presentation introduced a fashion carnivale of key trends and styles with the brand’s signature vintage softness.

Sandra Bullock wore this Alternative Apparel SilverLake Dirty Grey Tank to the Oprah Winfrey Show.  It’s only $35 and looks great dressed up, like Sandra, or dressed down with denim and sandals. Available for purchase here.

To get fashion fans in the mood for love, Alternative Apparel has created an original video that will play in NYC taxi cabs throughout fashion week, from February 11th until the 18th.

The film is called “Kinds of Love,” and was inspired by the real romance between famed French crooner Serge Gainsbourg and wild child songstress Jane Birkin. The short 30-second video will not only showcase Alternative Apparel’s spring 2010 styles, but it pays homage to the vibrant, eclectic culture of 1960′s France.
