RUNWAY: Limi Feu Spring 2010 all indieRUNWAY: Limi Feu Spring 2010 all indieIf Limi Feu’s Spring 2010 doesn’t have Japanese style written all over it, I don’t know what does. Daughter of designer Yohji Yamamoto, Limi Yamamoto certainly followed in her father’s footsteps this season with a collection that was more androgynous than a kid on Christopher Street (She even used male models to heighten the sense of androgyny in the womenwear!) Yamamoto exaggerated basic menswear with elaborate lapels and sleeves, brining yet another version to the trend. But I must say, the shoes, mostly masculine oxfords and booties, stole the show.

Raquel Zimmerman successfully plays both gender rolls in these Jean Paul Gaultier Fall ads. Raquel has always been a bit androgynous looking with her sharp cheekbones and pointed nose but this short haircut and masculine styling takes the look to the extreme. I’m loving the masculine/feminine dichotomy in these ads. This is proof of a versatile model and a versatile collection.

Forget the Yves Saint Laurent cage heels and the Chanel bow-tie heels, the next shoe to covet is undoubtedly Christian Louboutin’s studded Rollerball Loafers. In light of the androgynous trend, Louboutin has combined the transition from heels to flats as well as the stud obsession into the ultimate casual gone glamorous shoe. Prepare to suffer the wrath of backorder, because these $995 puppies, despite the recession, are sure to sell out during pre-order!

Anna Selezneva your androgyny is NO. You scare me in your ability to look like a little boy. Makes me wonder if you’re hiding any berries in your biddies. Congrats Emanuelle for unsexifying my wet dream, totally can’t look at her without feeling a bit pedophilic now.

Slick Tuxedo Style Pant Androgynous Look

With the recent death of Yves Saint Laurent, I predict that the le smoking suit look is going to be making a big comeback. The androgynous look was big for Marc Jacobs resort collection and was most recently worn by Ashley Olsen at the CFDA awards.

Marc Jacobs Does It Again... emerging fashion

Leave it to Marc Jacobs and Juergen Teller to come up with another kooky ad. The Marc by Marc Jacobs’ fall shots are out and feature a cute LBD with large bow detail. The overall effect’s a little Breakfast at Tiffany’s, down to the dark shades and chunky jewelry. But the twist (and with Marc there’s always a twist): The ads feature top male model Cole Mohr in said cocktail dress.

Personally, I hate most Marc Jacobs ads, but this one really hit me. A definite statement, compared to previous ads, this defines where fashion is going these days: towards more and androgynous clothing. NOT saying that I would like to see a dude in a dress, or skirt, or tights, but anything goes these days, and if you are daring enough to do something outside of the box, you get my respect.

Weigh in indies, agree or disagree?
