The big ticket item of the night was a  lithograph of Liz  by signed by Andy Warhol — “To Elizabeth, with much love”; estimated at $30,000 to $50,000, the painting sold for $662,500. The Liz Taylor auction continues tonight and into tomorrow, giving more reality TV stars and alleged socialites plenty opportunity to claim a piece of Taylor for her own. Gogo — gave her, though her grandmother certainly did. After seeing a nipple-bearing photo by Arnaud de Rosnay, Schiap, according to Berenson, “was so furious that she practically threw me out of the house and disowned me.” But as DVF so astutely pointed out, “to show your tits was not a big deal at the time. To be young in the seventies was quite different.” Different i.e. awesome.

Patrick – hottie son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver – and Georgia May — model daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall – have superstar couple written all over their perfect, half-naked bodies, which will be on display in the videos  when they debut on Hudson’s Facebook page September 7th.

Inspired by Andy Warhol‘s “Screen Tests” shorts from his Factory heydays, each of the three videos are about two minutes long with Patrick and Georgia May appearing in their own solo vids and sharing some screen time in the third.

Following the launch of the videos, Patrick May Jaggernegger (my new, tentative celeb couple name for them) will participate in a Twitter Q&A about the ads along with David Lipman, creative director for the Lipman Agency, photog Francesco Carrozzini, Hudson chief executive officer Peter Kim, and creative and design director Ben Taverniti at noon on the 7th.

The inspiration: Piet Mondrian‘s famous grid and primary color paintings, like Composition with Yellow, Red, and Blue, 1927 shown above

The history: As the sack dress evolved into the more figure-flattering shift in the 1960s, YSL saw this new shape as the perfect canvas for color blocking. Looking to contemporary artists who fit in with the 1960′s mod vibe, Mondrian’s colorfully linear work was a perfect match for the silhouette.

Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell’s Studio 54 was one of the greatest moments in New York City nightlife when everybody who was anybody would don their glittery best and dance the night away to the toot-toot-beep-beep of the thumping disco beat. Now, doorman Marc Benecke and Rubell’s former executive assistant Myra Scheer take us back in time with their talk show premiering this Sunday at 10 pm on Sirius XM Channel 15.

The Beatles started wearing them in their Cavern Club nights, aka that hole in the wall in Liverpool, where John, Paul, George and (eventually) Ringo would literally drive the kids into a frenzy. The Fab Four meticulously honed their look. When they hired Ringo in ’62, it was under the condition that he too brush his hair forward into a mop top. Soon, that hairdo, the Nehru jacket and the winklepicker, renamed the Beatle Boot, became just about as internationally crazed as the boys themselves. Stores across the world went wild making and stocking the Beatle Boot, and Andy Warhol even immortalized the advertisements in a work of art.

Grace Jones (May 19, 1948) Part supermodel, part mental patient, part disco/New Wave/dancehall queen, Grace Jones is an enigma, wrapped in a question, wrapped in a kimono. Her distinctive style and personality are a constant source of inspiration, from musicians like Rihanna and Lady Gaga to magazine editorials, who find her a favorite subject in particular. And is it any wonder? That type of crazy comes along but once in an androgynous moon.

Beverly Johnson (Oct. 13, 1952) Bev Johnson’s name will go down in history as the first black woman on the cover of U.S. Vogue. The 1974 cover was groundbreaking as Vogue has and continues to be and probably will always be the definitive fashion bible. Johnson’s entree into the big leagues was a watershed moment for models of all diversities. Bev was only 22, so when you peak that early I guess the only way you can go is Def Jam’s How to Be a Player.

Janice Dickinson (Feb. 15, 1955) Our second Top Model judge (but first, in terms of service rendered), Janice Dickinson is all but unrecognizable today after the full facial transplant she’s had done over the years. But at her peak in the 70s, she was darkly exotic and really the definition of drop-dead gorgeous — looking at her older pictures I literally want to kill myself. In 1979, she claimed she coined the term “supermodel” (though the credit is often given to Andy Warhol a decade earlier) when her manager told her that she shouldn’t work so hard because she wasn’t Superman. Janice’s response: ”I am not Superman. I am a supermodel.” And then she threw a drink in his face and preceded to make out with him. Classic Dickinson.

Iman (July 25, 1955) With her long, graceful neck and statuesque beauty, Iman looks like she was actually plucked out of a Somalian village and thrown on a runway, but in reality she was discovered by photog Peter Beard while she was studying political science in Nairobi. Upon coming to New York in 1975, however, she happily played along with the myth that Beard had discovered her as “a teen tribeswoman tending 500 cattle and sheep in a Kenyan game preserve.” What followed is one of the greatest careers in modern fashion history: a muse for Yves Saint Laurent, Issey Miyake and Calvin Klein, an entrepreneur and the one woman (or man) to tame David Bowie.

Jerry Hall (July 2, 1956) After dropping some acid at a party, Jerry Hall was convinced she could make it as a model. Hailing from Texas, she was the All-American girl of the 70s, who just happened to do some very naughty things with some notable Europeans; chief among them Mick Jagger, from whose superstar loins was spawned their pillow-lipped progeny, supermodel-on-the-rise, Georgia May Jagger. It’s clear that in this case, she definitely gets it from her mama.

Clueless (1995)- If this 90′s classic wasn’t already on your top 10 movies list of style and rich girl ways well then start jotting! Alicia Silverstone is the best prepster out there, and no matter how old we are or how many fashion trends pass by Clueless will always remain a fashion favorite… through knee-high socks, more than enough argyle to handle, feminine school girl blazzers and especially because Britney Murphy was in it too!

Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion (1997)- A little on the dumb-ass side and I’m pretty sure no one would wear as much metallic and glitter as these two on screen best friends, but it’s still fun to watch their adventure in going back to their high school reunion and dominating the Madonna-inspired blasts from the pasts.

Spice World (1997)- Victoria Beckham‘s style may be taking over the style headlines a lot more than the Spice Girls do now, but it doesn’t mean that we would ever forget baby spice, scary spice, ginger spice, posh spice, sporty spice, or any other spices that I’m forgetting in between!

Jawbreaker (1999)- Catty and backstabbing what other way would a girl like their movies, when you accidentally kill your best friend in your favorite pumps?

The Virgin Suicides (1999)- When it comes to Kristen Dunst’s careless ways she makes any film look awesome! Sofia Coppola (director) filmed the movie in an angelic sort of sunlight state, and with the simplicity of the style on the girls, from sundresses to school outfits, the obsession of five boys falling in love with mysterious sisters begins, and they watch them on the road to suicide.

Factory Girl (2006)- Starring Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick a muse of all muses for the New York City life style of Andy Warhol. Not to mention, Mary-Kate Olsen gets her five minutes of fame getting to rock the furs and the smoking glam of this crazy 1960′s fashion filled film.

500 Days of Summer (2009)- Zooey Deschanel would be the perfect heart breaking type girl, with her vintage dresses and humorous ways as she completes every girls dream to crush the boy who’s insanely in love with her in nonchalant ways.

Whip It (2009)- Ellen Page plays a rebellious small town girl who creates a wicked life for herself in Austin, TX. And along with Drew Barrymoore and Landon Pigg she rocks her indie-child style with combat boots, random skirts, and bizarre rock band tees!

The Runaways (2010)- When hearing the names Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart you don’t normally think of one on one girl make out sessions or drug addict… which in their case would be a good thing but luckily these two actresses rocked the hell out of bringing the Joan Jett and Cherie Curie’s wild child style to life!

Black Swan (2010)- Obviously what kind of timeline would this be without listing Natalie Portman’s surprise act of dealing with perfection and giving us a mental image of just how good Rodarte ballet wear could be!

“I guess it [having style] helped more than anything else. I’m glad I grew up during the last vestige of cool, in the 1990s, when everything wasn’t blogged and on the Interwebs, when things were more on the downlow and underground.”

She’s kind of got a point about the whole underground thing, but the 90s were far from the last vestige of cool – that was the 80s. The 90s were more like the last whimper and final death of cool before the mid-90s took over and America sunk into a capitalist coma.

“I guess I am stylish, but I would rather have people come up and say ‘I really liked your performance in this or that’ than ‘I really like the way you dress.’ That irks me. Anyway, the term It girl gets used too loosely…”

So she’s irked by people respecting her fashion sense over her acting ability; meanwhile, that never hurt Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly, both beloved Oscar-winning actresses whose style is arguably more influential than their film catalog.

Then Sevigny turned her ire to Peaches Geldof:

“Today the term is used to describe, say, Peaches Geldof—a girl who doesn’t do anything but is just sort of around.The original It girl was the 1920s movie star Clara Bow; then, in the 1960s, with Edie Sedgwick and Warhol, It girls turned into socialites, ladies of leisure—people who had ‘it’ just for being ‘fabulous.’ But Edie was just a rich drug addict, and when I got called the It girl everyone thought I was that too. I looked like a junkie because it was the 1990s and grunge was the fashion. But I felt I was doing stuff, not just being a socialite.”

Oooh, snap, Geldof! Chloé Sevigny said as far as rich, fabulous drug addicts go, you’re in the same league as Paris Hilton. Buuuuuuurrrrnnn.

When asked if drugs played a part in her personal liberation, Sevigny answered thus:

“It wasn’t like I was a big druggie; it was just kind of a side thing, something that went hand in hand with me falling in with that crowd, the rejects. I don’t think I ever bought anything; it was just sort of there.”

That’s my excuse whenever I end up doing drugs. Yeah, occifer, that coke was just sort of there on my nostrils and I just inhaled. Somehow, that excuse rarely works.

Jerry Hall always looked like Jerry Hall – that incredible head of hair, that flawless complexion, cheekbones from which the world hangs – but it wasn’t until she took LSD that she even considered modelling as a viable path:

‘ “A boy gave me a quarter of a tab. I didn’t know what it was!” she says. “I actually had never taken drugs and was very nervous. And I never did take drugs [afterward] ever, ever. Similar story, I once took shrooms and realized that I could taste colors. Red tastes like pennies.

Jerry, along with her sister Terry, ended up in Paris, where they roomed with a young Grace Jones. Jerry and Grace would put on cabaret shows for their friends, which I’m hoping involved a “Who’s On First”-type skit performed with Jerry straddling Grace, who would be on all fours wearing nothing but a saddle and a strap-on horse tail.

Hall met Dalí at a club that she and Grace would frequent. He asked her to come to Spain to film her wearing only a white veil. She turned down the famous artist’s request because she had promised her dear old mother she wouldn’t pose nude. They just don’t make ‘em like that anymore. Unless you count her pillowy-lipped daughter with Mick Jagger, Georgia May.

Which I don’t.

Jerry, however, is very proud that Georgia May and Lizzy have followed in her long, graceful strides and shares this anecdote:

“I gave them all these films to watch. Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, and Mae West. Actually, they both shot with Karl Lagerfeld, and he was saying to them, ‘Okay, be Bette Davis in The Letter.’ And they knew what to do! He said, ‘Oh, my God. I never work with girls who know what I’m talking about! Your mother trained you so well.’ So funny!”

Jerry Hall sounds like the best mother ever. Meanwhile, Karl Lagerfeld could tell me to be Bette Davis in anything and I’d be ready at the drop of a hat.

When discussing his role in the 2002 flick Sonny on Bravo‘s Inside the Actor’s Studio, Franco revealed how he researched for the role. He shadowed an actual man-whore, even witnessing the dirty, sweaty sex that takes place in the back of a stripclub.

Because there’s no other kind of sex that takes place in the back of a stripclub.

“It went down.” he said. “Everything went down, as you see in the movies and hear about. The eerie thing is, it was like a movie, but it wasn’t a movie – it was the real thing, happening in front of me.”

Ah, that takes me back. I remember seeing an orgy on the dancefloor of 54 in 19-I-can’t-quite-recall. I tell you, you learn a lot about life after seeing Liza spread eagle between two shirtless hustlers while Andy Warhol spanks her with a Halston turtleneck he’s jerry-rigged into a cat o’ nine tails.

Dom Pérignon is releasing A Tribute to Andy Warhol by Dom Pérignon.  Warhol, a known fan of the champagne, once bought, along with 20 other friends, 2,000 bottles to be stored and enjoyed on the millennium after his death no one knows where they are but I have a birthday coming up and would like to know!

Inspired by Warhol’s unconventional representation of icons, and the playful use of codes and color in his work, Dom Pérignon commissioned the Design Laboratory at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design to reinterpret its timeless bottle. The result is a unique collection of three bottles, each with its distinct label in red, blue or yellow, paying homage to Warhol’s iconic color games.

These limited addition bottles will be available to the public starting October 15^th at a suggested retail price of $150 (same price as “regular” DP) and can be found at fine wine purveyors nationwide.

A natural fit for Lisa’s 60s-inspired aesthetic, the exclusive six-piece collection will feature the photographers’ iconic images of Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick on cotton twill a-line dresses and cotton jersey t-shirts.

The dresses will be available for sale on July 1^st at the Lisa Perry Madison Avenue and Sag Harbor stores and online.  The dresses will retail for $1295 while the t-shirts featuring the same images will retail for approximately $100 and debut in stores shortly afterwards.

Written by the Interview Magazine’s founding editor, John Wilcock, it’s sure to give you the inside world of a private man. Expect the book to hit shelves on June 24th with a book signing at the Gagosian Gallery. Perfect time to ask John a few more questions.

Just in time for those relaxing summers in The Hamptons, Bond No. 9 has released its fifth installment in Andy Warhol fragrances. Andy Warhol Montauk is a unisex perfume created as an ode to those quick breaks Mr. Warhol took from New York City during the summer months. The bottles went on sale just a couple of days ago. The French designer who revolutionized the runway took the prize as top earning dead celebrity. Since his death his namesake brand has taken in over $350 million in revenue. Other notable money makers included Michael Jackson ($90 Mil), John Lennon ($15 Mil), and Andy Warhol ($6 Mil).

Michael van der Ham: The Dutch born designer’s Warhol art-inspired dresses caught the attention of more than one fashion insider during his autumn/winter 2009 Central St Martins show – for which he also scooped the L’Oreal Professional Award. Prior to this, the young impresario honed his talents with stints at Alexander McQueen and Sophia Kokosalaki.

Has an eye for: The eclectic – van der Ham’s mismatch approach to design ensures there’s never a dull moment.

Is inspired by: Women who aren’t afraid to be bold.

Will be: Showcasing as part of NEWGEN’s Ready-to-Wear exhibition at Somerset House.

3. Fred Butler: New kid on the block Fred began life as a set designer and prop maker before packing a style punch with her first jewellery collection of bold, bright and sculptural designs for autumn/winter 2009. Since then she has presented workshops at London’s Design Museum, guest lectured at the London College of Fashion and collaborated with Asos.com on their limited edition ‘Hit’ line.

Has an eye for: Creating “wearable sculpture,” by using graphic shapes, clashing colours and tactile forms.

Is inspired by: The unpredictable in the everyday.

4. Mark Fast: Since the success of the 28 year old Canadian’s Central St Martins graduate collection in 2007 (which was quickly snapped up by Browns Focus) the young designer has gone from strength to strength. His autumn/winter 2009 show featured a bold collection of black knitted body-con dresses, embellished with fringing and dramatic cut-out panels.

Has an eye for: Exquisite pieces that are contoured to the body.

Is inspired by: Finding innovative ways with knitwear.

5. Eun Jeong: 2008′s Fashion Fringe winner, Eun Jeong leapt on the scene with a collection made entirely from white cotton lace. The Korean designer has since been working hard to develop her own label ‘1st element by hong eun jeong’.

Has an eye for: Neat pleats and effortless tailoring.

Is inspired by: Uniqueness in others.

6. Emilio de la Morena: Having trained as a sculptor in his native Spain before sharpening his fashion skills at Central St Martins in 2002, de la Morena’s designs are inspired by structural shapes and traditional Spanish artisan techniques.

Is inspired by: The relationship between organic shapes and defined silhouettes.

7. Josh Goot: His sleek and monochromatic autumn/winter 2009 collection had London based Goot dubbed the new king of modernism, for his simple yet sophisticated use of black and white on shifts and neatly tailored suits.

Has an eye for: Colour blocking and clean lines.

Is inspired by: Human anatomy and abstract forms for spring/summer 2009.

8. Mary Katrantzou: Since her fun graphic print collection for autumn/winter 2009, that featured dresses emblazoned with images of perfume bottles, we have not been able to shake the feeling that Katrantzou is going places. Having worked under fellow Greek, Sophia Kokosalaki and freelanced for Bill Blass, the young print designer also makes jewellery to complement her collections.

Has an eye for: Digital prints and bold, industrial jewellery.

Is inspired by: Antique perfume bottles and 18th century portraits for spring/summer 2010.

9: Maria Francesca Pepe: With style insiders dipping into Pepe’s jewellery box for her hand-crafted Italian pieces to adorn their fashion pages – including Harper’s Bazaar – it is little wonder the designer already has a loyal following. You might have seen her designs embellishing the shows of Roksanda Illincic (S/S09 and A/W09), Emilio De La Morena (A/W09) and Louise Grey (A/W09), for which she designed a shoe collection.

Has an eye for: Chunky tubular necklaces made using old, handcrafted Italian techniques.

Is inspired by: Pieces that appeal to all tastes and ages.

10. Veryta: Designer and Fashion illustrator Tanya Ling brings her talents to the role of Creative Director of not-for-profit label Veryta, which appears for the first time this season. Launched with the backing of Yves Saint Laurent’s Stefano Pilati and Filippo Binaghi of Italian Silk manufacturer, Lorma, 10 percent of sales from the collection will go direct to children’s charities in India.

Stephen might be long gone, but a new collection with Louis Vuitton means he’s on the tip of every thirty-something fashionistas tongue.  Here are some fun facts to hold your own during history lessons.

HE WAS LUXURY – Stephen Sprouse pioneered the 80s “uptown sophisticate meets downtown punk” look. His signature collection was designed using pricey, custom-dyed fabrics in Day-Glo bright colors and graffiti that Sprouse personally added to his garments. 

HE FAILED, OCCASIONALLY - His over the top collections were sold at Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendel. Unfortunately, he couldn’t convince enough upper east siders to drop down the capital for his goodies and he declared bankruptcy in 1985. In 1988, he lost funding and almost completely shut down when his backer decided to cut ties with the designer.  Patricia Fields was at his big closeout sale. She grabbed dozens of pieces and sold them at her Bowery store to all the hungry kiddies. 

HE WAS A WARHOLIAC – Andy Warhol, a friend of Sprouse, was buried in one of the designers suits. Sprouse transformed Andy’s “Factory” into his own little showroom. Sprouse was one of the first designer to incorporate Andy Warhol into his work, using his famous Camouflage print in his 1987-1988 collections.

HE CHANGED SOHO – In 1987, Sprouse found some financial banking and was the first designer to opened up a full-scale emporium in Soho.  His move completely changed the shopping scene in the area.  Debbie Harry performed for a crowd of hundreds of Stephen’s closest friends at the opening.

HE LOVED HARING - Sprouse collaborated with Keith Haring to create several abstract prints of Jesus with graffiti. The prints became textiles for his Fall 1988 collection.

HE MADE VELCRO COUTURE – In 1992, he produced an exclusive, 32 piece line for Bergdorf’s called “CyberPunk” which used velcro instead of buttons.  The cheapest item was a pair of mens underwear which retailed for $500 bucks. 

HE TOOK ON ROCK AND ROLL – In 1995 Sprouse served as costume curator for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.  He designed the staff’s uniforms. 

HE WAS ALWAYS ON TARGET - In 2002, Sprouse created an exclusive line for Target, ushering in the Go International collection and changing the way fashion types looked at big box retailers forever. 

HE’S LOVED BY MARC - Marc Jacobs collaborated with Sprouse in 2001 for a collection of graffiti logo bags for Louis Vuitton. The pieces sold-out instantly. In 2006, Marc incorporated Sprouse’s 1887 graffiti leopard images into his handbags, shoes, and scares, which once again sold-out instantly. In 2009, a new line of Sprouse inspired pieces will hit the sheles of Louis Vuitton, expect them to once again, sell-out instantly…

Artists and designers are quite analogous to one another. Fashion is art and, essentially, art is fashion. That mod-print dress hanging in your closet is no accident; it represents the art and culture of an entire era. Art has been one of this decade’s major fashion influences.

During the swinging 60s, people began viewing fine art in an entirely different light. Pop art and op art became extremely popular as artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Bridget Riley entered the scene. Op art visual illusions created through geometric patterns were turned into fabrics, which eventually were used to make clothing. Cartoon characters and glorified everyday objects made trendy through pop art influenced design on black dresses. Dutch painter Piet Mondrian inspired the most famous dress of this time. Yves St. Laurent designed the “Mondrian dress” in 1965, which was widely copied.

So, next time you throw on an outfit, check out the pattern or print that you’re wearing. Odds are you’re wearing something that once hung on a gallery wall.

Finally a Bible the textually impaired can enjoy.  The Book is man’s newest attempt to make God’s word seem cool. In a world of tabloids and gossip blogs it seemed the only way to make the herald of the worlds end to seem relevant is to make it look like V Magazine. The newest version of the book is an easier read with images of celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Andy Warhol filling in as modern reference points throughout. Oh, I get it. We should care for the poor like Angelina Jolie cares for the poor and we shouldn’t worship ourselves in the way Andy worshiped himself…

If Satan’s part isn’t replaced by Anna Wintour then I think the author may loose me.

Maybe one of Andy Warhol’s most famous muses, Edie Sedgwick inspired the fashion world more than anything else. Her short hair, huge earrings and furs, dark eyebrows and ultra-high heels beneath pin thin legs were avant-garde during her generation. Sedgwick’s time at The Factory would inspire fashion for decades to come.

…It can if its in a Spring 2009 collection!

We’ve all heard the cliche defense of the fashion-obsessed saying, “Fashion is a form of art!” The usual response is always soaked thoroughly with sarcasm and followed with a turn of the back. But upon reviewing the latest in trends from top designers, and some from those who have yet to burst out on the runway scene, it seems that today designers may be drawing their inspiration from, well…art!

Take a look at the footage from Martin Margiela’s Spring 2009 collection. The faceless models are reminiscent of Salvador Dali’s Mirage painting, in which the human figures are also, faceless. The extreme and exaggerated silhouettes of the jackets are comparable to the angles found in Dali’s Premonition of Civil War. The Surrealist movement in art no doubt played a role in the development of Margiela’s collection. It was that same avant-garde attitude and intriguing yet aesthetic awkwardess that catapulted artists like Salvador Dali and Max Ernst to the walls of MoMA in New York, and is now walking the runways of the world.

Need more? Okay… Remember the Spring 09 of Gaspard Yurkievich in Paris? The use of color in his line was most memorable to me. It was a perfect blend of greys and whites with splashes of color. The same color scheme is reflected in Charles Demuth’s My Egypt. Even the way the lights and camera flashes hit the prism-like shapes of the shoes was reminiscent in the cubist-influenced Demuth.

Designers need not look farther for ideas to inspire and enlighten them than a Modern Art Museum, or at the very least, a library/internet. Banksy – Little is known about the elusive graffiti artist (who till this day hasn’t been officially identified) and his criminal nature is what has drawn so much attention to his work. A modern day anarchist, Banksy’s subjects covers a multitude of daily vices drawing inspiration from pollution, African poverty, governmental influence, the war on terror, and adultery.  A true artistic renegade, Banksy’s work and history will one day resonate as the true start of the modern anti-art movement. Recently, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt put down $400,000 to own a Bansky piece a sign that this artists work will only appreciate in value. Suddenly makes you want to rip down some of his wheat pasting that line the Lower East Side, eh?

Terry Richardson – The photographer which questions the sexual depravity of todays youth, Terry Richardson’s kick to the balls style has garnered attention from mainstreamers looking to connect to indies everywhere. David LaChappelle – One of the most visually engaging artists of today, David LaChappelle is a true voyeur of celebrity culture.  Transcending photography his feature film Rise was a stunning orgasm for the eyes and his continued shoots and fashion spreads have changed society’s perception of Hollywood. And how can you not love the man that put Amanda Lepore on the map.

Shepard Fairey - Andre the Giant has a Posse may remain the defining piece for this artist, but his more recent work focussed around Barack Obama is what will cement Shepard as a true creative for indies everywhere.  The founding father and mastermind behind OBEY, Shepard has taken the merger of art and commerce to a new level by forgoing the galleries for the runway with a collection of graphic tees that have allowed thousands to wear their art on their sleeves. 

Takashi Murakami – While it’s his collaboration with Louis Vuitton that has garnered this artist the most statewide praise, it’s his years as a contemporary craftsmen in Japan that will deserve this indie his memory.  Exploring themes in anime and sex, Takashi’s work has created a tailspin of interest in Japan’s hypervisual culture.  With a new collection on the horizon with Marc Jacobs and a highly successful exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum, Murakami will most likely become a major influencer on style and the art scene.

Bond No. 9 is certainly not new to experiencing the tribute to Andy Warhol. Coming in on their third round, the fragrance titled “Lexington Avenue” celebrates some of the first days Warhol spent in New York City. The perfume was released in commemoration of what would be Mr. Warhol’s 80th birthday. The company is certainly proud of their mission:

“Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue celebrates the fashionable, sophisticated, and successful women of New York City through the whimsical lense of Andy Warhol and his artwork.”

Not only is this the most impractical thing I have ever seen, it has almost touched the peak of my all time ugliest clothing items list. This dress by Pepe Jeans really displays the hideousness that Warhol has turned into. To make matters worse, this item was ranked as the “Number One Andy Warhol Fashion Item” by LA2DAY Fashion. They credited it as…

 truly bizarre but absolutely brilliant mastery of the end product of copulation between art and fashion.

I think it’s been made clear that the, often overrated, work of Andy Warhol is becoming widely used and revealed; however, until this stops, we’ll keep on telling you. Brands across the board refuse to stop the sale of designs featuring Warhol’s images; in fact, some designers are just joining the pack! What is this? The long list of designers and stores include Diane Von Furstenberg, Levi’s, Burton Snowboards, The Gap, Sphinx, Seiko, Royal Elastics, Loop, Paul Frank,  Bond No. 9 and Barney’s. Some of the designers are new to the Warhol scene; however, some just keep at it. Barney’s featured Warhol images in 2006 and recently they’ve swapped the images for “inspiration quotes” on Warhol’s behalf.

Once he was done fiddling with the image, he printed it and sold it for $100,000.
