Last night’s Golden Globes ceremony was a master class in awards show etiquette, or rather, the lack-thereof. Between the magnums of champagne on each table, host Ricky Gervais‘ ever-present glass of beer and the air of forced pleasantries, the Beverly Hilton was teetering on the verge of a knock-down drag out brawl all night. Somehow everything managed to go off without a hitch, and along the way some wisdom was imparted.

My favorite look of the evening came by way of Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway: each a sparkling tower topped with broadening shoulders. The emerald vision of Atelier Versace on Angelina gathers at the waist for a 30′s reminiscent silhouette, while Armani Privé on Anne Hathaway gets it straight all the way down. Long, luminous dark tresses lay over the shoulder, down, sleek like the dresses themselves. Perhaps it’s a dark-haired siren kinda thang. From the front they look perfectly demure, but from the back…

How special that Versace took a winter necessity and tested it on Angelina Jolie for the European premiere of The Tourist. Gloves are easy to forget, so I’m glad these are securely attached to her gown. Excuse me as I use my own glove as a barfbag.

Seems like the Hollywood Foreign Press couldn’t help but steal the Critics’ Choice Awards thunder and announced the nominees for the 2011 Golden Globes a day afterwards. Let’s delve into what may or may not be the best in film of 2010.

When Angelina Jolie showed up to her fitting for The Tourist with her tootsies in Salvatore Ferragamo, costume designer Colleen Atwood immediately declared Ferragamo exclusive shoe designer for the film. That’s how a polished metal stiletto pumped Angelina walks on water in Venice.
