Monika Sawicka is One Wild Woman for Tush Magazine

Edited by

Decked out in leather, fur and head-to-toe animal print, Monika Sawicka stars in “Upper Wildside” for Tush Magazine‘s issue #28. Expertly captured by photographer Txema Yeste, black and white pictures deliver sullen cheekbones for miles in and a blurred line of where garments end and city begins. Bernat Buscato set the mood with Valentino, Burberry Prorsum and J. Mendel, some sheer enough to read a runny newspaper. The drama would be less without striking hair by Akki Shirakawa and nearly skeletal makeup by Tyron Machhausen.

Alina Baikova Conjures Warm Spring Air for No. Magazine

Edited by

Lightly haunting yet quite playful, this spread conjures the visions and feelings of early spring: delicate light, warm air and blithe demeanor. Starring the young and lovely Alina Baikova, the talented Karen Inderbitzen-Waller both photographed and styled this spread for No. Magazine. In an old Parisian hotel, soft pastels and flowery fabrics are mixed with strong brocade and flashy animal prints for fresh and unassuming looks that fit well with the shabby chic surroundings. Clothing from the shoot hangs in the closet when not in use, evoking memories of youthful boredom when modeling your wardrobe was a splendid summer evening activity. Alina has become one of my new favorite models in the past few months -  she has beautiful facial features perfect for ethereal spreads like this.

Leather, Spikes & Everything Nice: Aggy Deyn Does the Rebel Waltz

Edited by

What is the Rebel Waltz? It could only be the magical dance created when androgynous model Agyness Deyn wears Balmain, Burberry and Alexander Wang for the lens of photographer and genius Hedi Slimane in the March 2011 issue of Vogue China. A hardcore edge in black and white never looked so good with leather dresses, chokers, cuffs and hundreds of spikes. Aggy hasn’t looked this good in a long time.

MUST HAVE: Alexander Wang Leopard Print Mule

MUST HAVE: Alexander Wang Leopard Print Mule

Admittedly, when first I saw these shoes I was skeptical. Animal prints, especially leopard, tread a fine line between chic and kitsch; and before this modern age, they’d seem fairly out of place in warm-weather wear. Note though, the way they introduce a splash of edgy patterning to this ensemble, featured in Alexander Wang’s S/S 2010 collection:

Somehow, it just works- and I love it.
