Mix a little bit of patience, a splash of color, some polyurethane resin and one talented artist and what do you get? That’s right, out of this world accessories for Milan’s very own fashion week. Dutch artist, Anna ter Haar, was recently snagged by the designers for Klavers van Engelen to design dripping sunglasses for their Fall/Winter 2008 collection.

Haar came across this method of preserving movement while completing her graduation project and experimenting the qualities of polyurethane resin. Her final outcome was a project titled “Buitenbeentje,” Dutch translation for “odd man out,” where Haar created furniture (tables, chairs and stools) by cutting a hole in the furniture and dripping plastic material through the hole. Haar comments on her designs:

This research is the result of my fascination for everything that differs the normal: the odd man out, the freaks. Certain appearances that are so ugly and disgusting that they become interesting.

The stalactite-esque drippings on sunglasses were Anna ter Haar’s first attempt at fashion accessorizing. So what’s next? A necklace? Some earrings? Drip stilettos perhaps! I want more!

Thanks Anna ter Haar!
