#NYFW Round-Up: FashionIndie’s Faves from New York Spring 2012

Edited by

There’s a definite consensus around the FashionIndie office regarding this season at the tents: lackluster. Gone was the excitement and the thrill of the new and in its stead stood a circus comprised of the old guard impatiently appraising the crop of would-be streetstyle stars and the army of bloggers hanging about as they waded through the muck of the nameless and the irrelevant to find a collection onto which to pin their ever-dwindling hopes . Still, there were a few shows that set the five barely-beating hearts of FashionIndie racing and had our backs aching to be clothed in their bright and bold designs.

SHOE ENVY: Alexander Wang Anais Metallic Leather Loafer Pumps

Edited by

Where were these 4-inch wonders when I was searching for a pair of metallic pink loafers to complement my brown plaid uniform skirt? Shoes make the man – err woman – and the man, Alexander Wang, has outdone himself this time. Fit for a turn-of-the-century Annie Hall, the Anais Metallic Leather Loafer Pumps have a sharp tongue and pointy, commanding toe. What’s not to love?

TRENDSPARK: Timeless Androgyny

Edited by

TRENDSPARK: Timeless Androgyny It wasn’t until I was saw Mikael Jansson’s spread for Vogue Paris September 2009 that I realized what my favorite fall trend is: timeless androgyny. Inspired by Diane Keaton’s role as Annie Hall, Jansson’s spread features model Anna Jagodzinska dressed in an array of androgynous 70′s menswear. While the androgyny trend is a few seasons running, I love the simple, professional and somewhat preppy feel of this trendy throwback. But remember ladies, keep the hair and makeup feminine and simple to avoid the butch/costume/tranny look!

Tracing the Look: Phoebe Arnold

Tracing the Look: Phoebe Arnold

Pheobe Arnold is as fashion editor over at Pop Magazine. She also has a wicked sense of style. Pheobe was photographed wearing some menswear inspired duds. Cool look, but it has been done before. Look no further than Diane Keaton in Annie Hall.

Hillary and the Amazingly Ugly Technicolor Pant Suits

Hillary and the Amazingly Ugly Technicolor Pant Suits

No, no we don't.

Hillary and the Amazingly Ugly Technicolor Pant Suits

Why is she hailing Hitler?

Actually, each pant suit has been mistakingly monochromatic. Hillary Clinton’s collosal of colorful suits are attention craving, unpleasant, loud and obnoxious. Mmm… maybe they are a better match for Clinton after all. I hate to admit it, but these popsickle solid colored suits have become her signature.

Last night was no exception as Clinton pranced onto the DNC stage in an burnt orange pant suit. Eek. I love Diane Keaton’s Annie Hall masculine look but Clinton has to turned androynous chic into andreadful chic.  How did she plan to be president, if she can’t even dress herself? Little steps, Hil. Clinton looks as though she should be running a county fair, not the country.

Thanks to ABC News for the Pics!
