The 2012 SAG Awards took place last night, and our applause goes out to all the big winners. As always, we were super excited to see what everyone was wearing on the red carpet from the couture dresses to the 6-inch high stiletto platforms. Just when you thought it was safe to turn on your TV, Project Runway has spawned a secondary series, Project Runway All Stars. While the 10th season of boring, regular PJ Runway starts in June with Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and Tim Gunn stepping into their well-worn shoes, PJ Runway All Stars debuts January 5 with new but fashionably familiar faces.

Now that the swarms of photogs, editors, bloggers, stylists and what-have-yous have descended on Milan Fashion Week, we here at FashionIndie can finally take some time out to reflect on the hectic week that was New York Fashion Week by rifling through our still bursting bags. Nothing tells the details of debauchery like the contents of a lady’s purse.

I rolled out of the figurative gutter of the literal FashionIndie office this morning and dragged my hungover self to Badgley Mischka. Though I didn’t have my coffee/Jack Daniels, the collection was definitely the best part of waking up. There were red carpet gowns galore that we’ll no doubt be seeing in the coming months. But there were a few missteps — I’m the last girl on earth to decry a hotpant, but when said hotpant interrupts an otherwise stunning procession of dresses, I can’t fully support it. Though I’d probably end up wearing it. Okay, totally end up wearing it.

Ever since Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week moved from the tents at Bryant Park to the metaphorical tents at Lincoln Center, more and more designers have opted instead of external sites to hold their fashion shows. One of the most popular venues, Milk Studios, is now in direct competition with Lincoln Center for both sponsors and designers.

It’s no secret counterfeiting is a huge problem in the fashion industry. People with no shame whatsoever tote fake Chanel, Prada, Burberry and Louis bags all over town, acting like hot sh*t when really they’re not fooling anyone. As a stylish way to raise awareness against counterfeit goods and celebrate original design within the fashion industry, the CFDA collaborated with eBay to produce a collection of original canvas tote bags bearing the tagline YOU CAN’T FAKE FASHION, which sold out before we could blink an eye. But not to worry! You can still get your hands on one of these fab styles.

We’ve been easing into the concept of backpacks once again. It’s a slow moving train, but we really did them some harm in the 90′s with over saturation and awkward adolescent memories. Then we did even more bodily harm with scoliosis inducing one shouldered bags. Now, we’re not saying that a backpack is fully acceptable in an office environment, or on a daily basis, but a good rucksack like one of these will be ready for your summer adventures.
