Jimmy Choo’s third NYC outpost opened this morning in the West Village between Zadig + Voltaire and Marc by Marc Jacobs.   Bedecked with chandeliers, mirrored furniture, and overstuffed seating, the designer shoe brand’s founder Tamara Mellon told Women’s Wear Daily that the shop “evokes the feeling of a Forties boudoir“.  The boutique carries the full range of Choos for women, as well as bags, leather goods, sunglasses, and the Choo 24:7 line, giving downtown fashionistas another place to exercise their credit cards.

Some things are just made for each, and fall and tan leather are two of them. Although you can certainly wear tan leather accessories year-round, the fall is when the earth tone just feels best. Artist Dan Hillier collaborated with French(?) company Cool and the Bag on a series of totes. It’s hard enough to find a nice, simple tote that doesn’t advertise a pharmaceutical company, and harder still to find one that has some understated originality and beauty to it, but rest assured these do. Angel Jackson just sent me their new campaign shots for 2010 and as usual they have outdone themselves. Angel Jackson have returned with their signature style aesthetic but this season the bags have an extra “POW!”. The bags are young and feminine but edgy and very on trend. We have been raving about the bags for quite some time now and last year they were the only accessories designer to be nominated for the British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.

During RIIR’s anniversary, they asked famous astists to do limited edition bags for auction including Ben Cab, Raymund Isaac, Jenni Epperson and daugther Aryana, Anita Magsaysay-Ho. Great works and play of ideas, I must say.

Personally, I love the RIIR by Aranaz line. But there’s also this RIIR eco-shopping bag called the Tree Bag by Rajo I’m somehow eyeing for and thought that the idea’s nice.

 This is the Tree Bag. It's that simple and is foldable. The handle is really nice. The wooden ones are from Cebu, according to the perky shop attendant –forgot about the other detail Nicer in actual.

New York based artist Scott Campbell was recruited by Marc Jacobs for the Louis Vuitton SS11 menswear.

Campbell tattooed LV logos all over the runway models necks and he also customized a number of leather bags.

No wonder Marc Jacobs uses Scott Campbell as his personal tattoo artist.

Seasons come and seasons go, but bags are forever in vogue. This summer saw the return of chain link bags, and you have little option but to embrace this trend, especially when fashion giant house, Chanel are setting it, giving its classic quilted bag a modern twist with silk, tweed and ribbon additions. Versace’s show saw ice cream colour bags with chain straps that make for irresistible hand candy.

Carry a block colored bag with your casuals to brighten any outfit or go wild with animal prints to turn up the rockstar status for a night out. Box clutches are a huge trend this season, mix the two styles to gain fashion brownie points. If you are bold enough, carry a printed bag with your printed dress, avoid going overboard, by keeping other accessories simple. Whether you choose to carry a chain link bag in patent or quilted, the long and short of it is, this is one trend that is here to stay.

I usually associate B.Y.O.B with something else but it appears to be that these “Bring Your Own Bags” designed by Prada are the perfect designer tote bags. They’re made with traditional Prada fabric and  have “select archive prints” on them. If you want want of these it won’t be inexpensive. They are going for $295 a piece. That a helluva lot more than a signature Marc Jacobs tote)

I cannot wait for Eat, Pray, Love to come out in theaters! Could there be a better combo than Javier Bardem and Julia Roberts? After seeing the duo on Oprah to promote the August 13 release of the film, I think not! You can see the trailer for the film which is based on Elizabeth Gilbert’s bestseller by clicking here. Throughout the movie Julia Robert carries around one-of-a kind hobo bags from Rising Tide ($140). Each bag is made by artisans in developing countries who earn a fair wage (about 60% more than they would for comparable factory jobs). Further most of the artisans can opt to work from home, allowing them to take care of their families while still earning money. Each Rising Tide Fair Trade product is fair trade, Co-Op America approved, and according to their website a percentage of profits are donated to philanthropic programs that educate and equip under served young women with the skills needed to secure employment or start a business.

There are endless textile prints to choose from. These bags aren’t really my style for my day-to-day NYC life, but I’m going to be traveling to India in December for a wedding and can totally see this being perfect for that trip! I was able to check-out the bags at a beauty event recently (more on that in July on Beauty Snob!), and they’re well-crafted with a round suede base, straps and piping, artisan made brass hardware, and a magnetic snap. I only wish they zipped to make them safer for travel.
