Designers gave the gala a big serve, but who won the game point in your book?

POSTURE for an Active Sit: Feet flat on the floor. Sit tall as you can. Straighten your back. Puff out your chest. Pull in your chin slightly. Push your shoulders down. Move your shoulder blades close together. For an extra squeeze, put your feet together.

The active sit will engage your body into working the muscles. This can be done in any seat, but the effect is enhanced on the ball when your balance is tested.

ROLLING the Active Sit: While you’re still actively sitting, slowly move the ball forward and backward, or side to side, or in circles with just your hips.

This works your muscles as the abs must work double time to keep the balance.

LEG LIFTS under the table: Lift one foot off the ground slightly and hold out your arms for balance.

This takes all of those muscles you’ve been working on with your active sit and throws them into a frenzy. That is once you’ve done 5 reps of 15 seconds on each side.

TIPS:

Ball Size – your legs should be bent at a 90 degree angle, so get a ball that fits you accordingly.

Stability – if your balance isn’t quite there yet, you could get a ball stand. Or they make ball chairs specifically for this purpose.

Well eeeek. I’ve just come across some research that says you shouldn’t sit at a ball all day. I do hope my back will have survived this day. So don’t throw away your plain Jane chair just yet. Switch off throughout the day, and keep the active sit active.

With a series of gentle Dermalogica products, she started with Ultra Calming Serum Cleanse, and followed with professional Colloidal Masks, one of which was made from oatmeal. She used a High Frequency Facial machine, which emits a low level of electrical current that stimulates blood flow and thus rejuvenates. In betwixt the masks and massages and cleanses, Sasha began the painstaking process of extraction. As a picker myself, it was a relief to finally have a professional squeezing spots I didn’t even know needed to be squeezed. She. Got. Everything.
