Barneys New York has teamed up with members-only contemporary art website Exhibition A to ask, “why decorate when you can collect?” At the Exhibition A pop-up galley in Barneys’ Madison Ave flagship, you can start building your art collection with prints for sale under $1000 by Spencer Sweeney, René Ricard, Max Snow and Lucien Smith, as well as signed and rare books by Andreas Gursky, Andy Warhol and Cindy Sherman.

The presentation, including moving sculptures and a mannequin leg trapped in a cylinder of spikes, leads into the November 1st unveiling of Louboutin’s limited-edition shoe, designed exclusively for the retailer. Christian Louboutin doesn’t need platinum or china to celebrate 20 successful years in the biz. He’d rather observe the milestone with a book featuring photo contributions by film director David Lynch and photographer Philippe Garcia and a forward by actor John Malkovich. Not only is Barneys launching the book for this very special occasion, Louboutin is designing an exclusive pair of shoes for the store that will be reveled, piece by piece, over the course of 20 days. What’s more, there will only be 20 pairs created. How’s that for festivities?

Barneys and Lady Gaga will be getting in the Christmas spirit this holiday season with the fifth floor of its Madison Avenue men’s store dedicated to Gaga’s Workshop. Does anyone else have dreams of little elves wearing Mugler bodysuits and 12-in platform tranny heels dancing in their heads while the Lady dashes through the snow in a sleigh pulled by eight shirtless dancers?
