I am a HUGE fan of both Freaks and Geeks and Busy, and this is so totally the right look for her and the event. Although she could have done better in some areas, she looks really cute.

Claire added a thin brown belt to give this dress a waist, which I think was an excellent choice. I would have liked to see her wear a chunkier, darker shoe, similar to how it was shown with the spring 2011 collection. The cuff she is wearing looks a little awkward, but it could just be that it’s turned to the back and we can’t see it. I commend her for trying the slicked back hair, but I don’t like the way it looks on her with this ensemble. The grade?

Halle Berry has one of the best bodies in Hollywood, so she needs something both sophisticated and sexy. This Elie Saab couture dress has just enough sheer detailing to be slightly provocative. It fits her like a glove and the color is amazing with her skin tone. Here is what the dress looked like on the runway:

It fits Halle better than the model! She kept her accessories to a minimum, letting the dress speak for itself as it was shown on the runway. I love the bracelet and small, sparkling earrings. If this was the Oscars, I’d say do a big chandelier in the ear, but she dressed perfectly for the occasion. Grade?

The big celebrity news and gossip for today is that yesterday in LA, Judge Marsha Revel sentenced 24-year-old Lindsay Lohan to 90 days in jail to be followed by a 90-day alcohol rehab program after learning of compliance problems with her probation for a DUI arrest in 2007.

Lohan pleaded with the judge, saying, “I did do everything I was told to do and did the best I could to balance jobs and showing up. I was taking it seriously. I wasn’t expecting any special treatment.”

The judge, however, wasn’t hearing any of it, telling Lohan, “I couldn’t have been more clear about my orders. There are no excuses.” This latest celebrity gossip has the internet abuzz over whether the sentence was fair. Lohan is to report to jail July 20.

Slums of Beverly Hills takes us back to high school and those familiar adolescent woes with Vivian Abramowitz, played by Natasha Lyonne, in this late-90′s independent classic.

There is both comedy and drama to be found in the film, as Vivian’s unemplyed father (Alan Arkin) drags her and her two brothers from one ratty apartment to another on the fringes of glamorous Beverly Hills.

The rich colors and sets in the film, which takes place in 1976, harkens back to writer/director Tamara Jenkins’ own  childhood memories. 

Vivian’s frizzy updo and hoop earrings are full of disco glamour and  teenage frenzy, and the movie also showcases denim cutoff shorts and striped basketball socks, baggy t-shirts and floral dresses.

It’s a touching yet hilarious story of a disfunctional family and sexual awakening.

What do designer Diane von Furstenberg, actress Susan Sarandon and model Petra Nemcova all have in common? Sure, they are all multi-millionaires in the public’s eye, but these three stars, along with several others, are teaming up in Beverly Hills to host a benefit for the Somaly Mam Foundation. 

The Somaly Mam Foundation is an organization dedicated to rescuing, providing therapy for and socially assimilating victims of the sex slave trade in Southeast Asian brothels. Founded by Cambodian activist Somaly Mam, a survivor of sexual slavery, the non-profit charity strives to achieve its ultimate vision: a world where human trafficking is non-existant.

“I’ve committed my life to fighting this horrible scourge on humanity. Seeing innocent young women and children whose lives have been forever scarred leaves no doubt that they need a champion who is willing to invest all their time and energy towards eradicating the shameful practice of human trafficking.” -Somaly Mam

Tuesday night’s fundraiser, sponsored by big names like Tiffany Co, Glamour Magazine and Ed Hardy, will help raise money and awareness for this often overlooked, yet pressing issue. Thanks to Hollywood’s fashion and film cream de la cream, we may finally have a band of champions necessary to bring us one step closer to a world without slavery!
