MODEL LUST: Daisy Lowe Opens Up About Her Insecurities

Edited by

Even gorgeous models like Daisy Lowe have poor self-esteem moments. The English beauty told Vogue.com what happens behind closed doors.

MODEL LUST: Daisy Lowe Opens Up About Her Insecurities

“Modelling is difficult and behind closed doors, I began to feel really insecure,” Lowe reveals. “People were going on about me having bad skin and I was beating myself up over every picture.”

But the critical comments didn’t stop her. Lowe walked in the Vivienne Westwood spring/summer 2011 show during London Fashion Week and is the new face of Biba. You go girl!

TrendSpark: Gladiator Sandals

TrendSpark: Gladiator Sandals

TrendSpark: Gladiator Sandals

Although this trend has been around since last season, a recent trip to Forever 21 has proven the gladiator sandal’s status as official. Albeit cheaper, and therefore more likely to collapse at the most inconvenient of times, they were nonetheless cute. It wasn’t love at first sight when I first caught glimpse of the Balenciaga knee high version–atrociousness was more like it. But as new variants pop up all over the scene, I’ve become thoroughly enamored with their versatility and how they make an outfit seem so chic. I’m obsessed right now with BIBA’S tobacco high-heeled gladiator that I would gladly skip my car payment to own them. Great for summertime toes, they look best with mini hemlines (i.e. short shorts, mini skirts and dresses), and slim jeans.

Biba Relaunch, Again

Edited by

Biba Relaunch, Again

We’ve written about them many times, but now it looks as though Biba is again re-inventing themselves. I feel like we should do a ‘designer discovery’ with every season that this label produces. And apparently Sussie Bubble agrees.

Biba’s aiming at an entirely different demographic to what it was decades ago when it was the place for cheap, fast, funky fashion.  With Bella Freud having left the scene, the new creative team have crammed as much lux quality into the designs, and suddenly, I ‘geddit’…. it is to be treated as a fashion label with a past that lives on in ‘spirit’ but not in anything else. ”

Runway: Biba, Fall 08

Edited by

We haven’t heard much from this design house since we did a ‘Designer Discovery’ article on them a while back. I now happened to stumble on images from their Fall 2008 Fashion Show, and I must say I’m very intrigued. Although not in spirit with the concept of the original design house, this Biba collection is toned down and incredibly wearable. Edgy yet feminine, the clothing is very fashionable and trendy. The abundance of oversized new-age ruffles kept the clothes young, yet the silhouettes and beautiful tailoring made the collection for a women of any age.
