Even though we usually know the origin of a purchase before it’s made, not often can we see into the factory and watch the crafters in action. Fortunately for us, Jules Kim took Videofashion behind the scenes of her NYC Garment District factory where her striking fine jewelry collection Bijules is manufactured. Bijules NYC is a collection of Jules’ hard work and innate passion to create. The collections focus on necklaces and rings, which are created from a variety of materials. The unique component about Jules’ designs is that you’re not just looking at the standard ring or necklace; each piece is created with a purpose. As for the direction that Jules wants to pursue for her jewelry, she says it should “reflect American propaganda for the empowerment of women, the innocence of childhood and the dark humor of adulthood.” Incorporating stones of various sizes into gold, silver and a variety of other settings, Jules works to explore these three main aspects of inspiration. The stones come in a range of colors for a variety of occasions. Several of the pieces can be worn in a more elegant setting, alongside those for less formal places; you can find a piece for almost any situation.
