2. The September Issue (2009) Step inside the hallowed halls of the fashion Bible that is U.S. Vogue. We get a rare glimpse of the woman behind the bob and Chanel sunglasses, as Anna Wintour admits with a palpable hint of regret that the distinguished members of her family think what she does is "quite funny." But it's Grace Coddington's bleeding artistic heart that stays with you throughout. See Also: Bill Cunningham New York (2010) Bill Cunningham, legendary streetstyle photographer for the New York Times has a Puritanical simplicity to his life but a couturier's eye for trends and detail that is documented in this tender portrait, featuring the likes of Wintour, Carmen Dell'Orefice, Anna Piaggi and Michael Kors.

3. Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) Though not necessarily a film about fashion, Breakfast at Tiffany's is the quintessential fashion film. Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly continues to teach and inspire girls and certain boys everywhere on how to be chic, how to be urbane and how to live fabulously in New York -- or at least how to pretend. And there has never been a more iconic Little Black Dress ever put on screen. See Also: Darling (1965) Darling's Diana Scott is the British, unapologetically wanton version of Holly Golightly. A morally-suspect fashion model who sleeps her way to the top, Diana still manages to come off as a naïve and sympathetic character -- despite exhibiting behavior to the contrary -- thanks to Julie Christie's Oscar-winning portrayal.

4. Unzipped (1995) Sure, there are other backstage, behind the curtain, beneath the bustle documentaries of fashion designers, but none are as stylish as Isaac Mizrahi's Unzipped. When Isaac was the new, young It designer on the block; when Naomi, Cindy, Christy and Linda ruled the catwalks; when Eartha Kitt was still alive and purring -- Unzipped documents the height of 90s fashion, right before the balloon went bust. See Also: Valentino: The Last Emperor (2008) Whereas Unzipped follows a designer in the earlier stages of his career, The Last Emperor observes a master -- Valentino Garavani -- as he takes his final bow with his partner of 50 years by his side, Giancarlo Giammetti.

5. Funny Face (1957) Audrey Hepburn makes a return to the list, but this time she is the unlikely model Jo Stockton, a bookworm with an unconventional look that inspires love in photographer Dick Avery, played by Fred Astaire. A fantastic set of photoshoots and gowns by Hubert de Givenchy are the main attractions, but Kay Thompson as salty editrix Maggie Prescott could give Miranda Priestly a run for her money. See Also: The Women (1939) Though Funny Face features a climactic runway show, The Women spared no expense in shooting its nearly 10-minute fashion show in color, despite the entire film being in black and white. Do not mistake this classic with that awful remake Diane English regurgitated a few years ago.

6. Mahogany (1975) Arguably Diana Ross's greatest cinematic achievement -- if only for this -- Mahogany chronicles the rise of supermodel Mahogany from the slums of Chicago to the runways of Paris and finally to international acclaim as a designer in her own right, only to give it all up for the man she loves...a move Ms. Ross would openly spit upon, but which she plays with considerable believability. See Also: Gia (1998) While Mahogany is a fictional supermodel who dabbles on the dark side, Gia Carangi was the real thing whose excesses eventually got the best of her. The film is best remembered, however, for launching Angelina Jolie to stardom, thus ensuring Jennifer Aniston's lifelong ire.

7. Clueless (1995) What can one say about Clueless? The perfect teen movie, it's infinitely quotable -- "You're just a virgin...who can't...DROIVE." -- and is there a character with as enviable a closet as Cher Horowitz? Bonus points for first introducing me and perhaps a majority of the world to Azzedine Alaïa. See Also: The 2nd Season of Gossip Girl (2008-2009) With the possible exception of Mean Girls, there hasn't come along a teen movie as smart or as witty as Clueless. But in terms of style, the second season of Gossip Girl rose to the challenge, making fashion icons of Blair Waldorf and Serena Vanderwoodsen, as well as their real-life counterparts, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively.

8. Blow-Up (1966) Michelangelo Antonioni captures the mod mood of 60s Swinging London as a hedonistic fashion photographer -- played by David Hemmings -- tries to figure out whether or not he accidentally snapped a murder. In the film's most famous scene, 6'1 supermodel Veruschka writhes around the set of a photoshoot as Hemmings makes love to her with his camera. See Also: La Dolce Vita (1960) If Blow-Up swings, La Dolce Vita sways. Federico Fellini's romantic portrait of Rome is as sleek and stylish as protagonist Marcello Rubini's suits.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006) It's a matter of public record that Lauren Weisberger's roman à clef was based on Anna Wintour -- who famously wore Prada to the film's opening -- but what the film accomplishes (okay, let's be real, what Meryl Streep accomplishes) is creating not only one of the greatest villains, but also one of the greatest fashion icons, in modern cinema. See Also: Sex and the City: The Movie (2008) A completely unnecessary production and by the loosest definitions an actual "movie," Sex and the City also benefited from Pat Field's brilliant styling. But unlike The Devil Wears Prada, there was no Oscar nomination for attiring Carrie and Co.

10.Zoolander (2001) Everything benefits from a parody -- rather, everything benefits from a good parody, Though Zoolander is far from perfect, it's a fun and funny romp through fashion's ridiculous playground; complete with walk-offs, an evil Galliano-esque designer in Jacobim Mugatu and the introduction of Blue Steel into the cultural lexicon. And lucky for us, there's a sequel in the works thus righting everything with the world. See Also: Brüno (2009) Taking off where Ben Stiller catwalked off, Sacha Baron Cohen's flamboyant character traipsed through America, spreading his questionably fashionable and gratuitously gay, booty-shorted self from sea to shining seaman.

Dum Dum Style-ism: Some where along the lines of a modern day 60′s “It” girl meets a twisted Blair Waldorf gone rogue, and don’t forget to add a hint of an all black wardrobe. From their golden child collection of must-have tights, matched with the combination of lace, leather, collars, and wit, I bet you can’t help but love their almost wild child status. Not to mention, their songs top it all.

Ostroff will be Condé’s first president of entertainment as it hopes to ween the Nast off the teet of advertisers and start rolling in that Hollywood dough. Though projects like The September Issue and America’s Next Top Model, featuring a be-caped André Leon Talley, already give CN a multi-media presence, the publisher’s not getting any money from it. Which is where Ostroff comes in.

“This is all content that Condé Nast should be able to build a library with in some way — even if it’s in partnership with other companies,” said Ostroff. “It could mean films, it could mean documentaries, it could mean television shows, it could mean digital series or digital content, it could be digital channels. And it could be across all platforms: Cable channels, cable broadcast networks. It ranges across the board.”

In that case, allow me to pitch my first — of many — Condé Nast-themed shows. Picture it, The Golden Gossip Girls, starring Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington as Blair Waldorf and Serena Vanderwoodsen, respectively (naturally)…50 years in the future. It’s got Emmy written all over it…or at least People’s Choice Award scribbled somewhere on its side. [NYT, WWD]

With one Oscar nomination down — for An Education (2009) – Mulligan’s sure to get another for next year’s The Great Gatsby, playing the ultimate ingénue, Daisy Buchanan.

Elle Fanning

Starring roles: Elle proved such a fave with the Mulleavy sisters, they cast her in a short film for Rodarte. After stealing scenes in the independent Somewhere (2010), Elle’s going for the blockbuster gusto with J.J. Abrams‘s Super 8, out this summer.

Hailee Steinfeld

Starring roles: Along with Fanning, Steinfeld is proving that it’s never too early to be a fashionista by going on a winning streak during awards season…if only on the red carpet. Hailee nabbed an Oscar nom for showing her Grit, but for her next project, she’s going for a softer touch: she’s attached to a retelling of Sleeping Beauty.

Mia Wasikowska

Starring roles: Honestly, I’ve been more inspired by Mia’s stunning editorials as of late than her red carpet style. She first had me with W alongside her Jane Eyre co-star, Michael Fassbender then she channeled another Mia (Farrow) for Blackbook. She’s super talented and naturally beautiful plus with a slew of upcoming roles, she’ll have plenty of time to brush up on her style notes.

Blake Lively

Starring roles: When Karl Lagerfeld handpicks you to be the Chanel Purse Ambassador, you’re officially an icon. Best known for her penchant for Gossip, Blake surprised everyone with a dramatic turn in The Town (2010) and will soon be feeling up Ryan Reynold‘s muscled, latex-clad torso in this summer’s Green Lantern. Some ingenues get all the luck.

Keira Knightley

Starring roles: Another of Karl’s favorites, Keira’s been a red carpet highlight for years — I’m still screaming at her in Vera Wang at the 2006 Oscars.*  Though she was keeping a low profile for a while, Knightley came roaring back in this Chanel Couture stunner at the London premiere of Never Let Me Go. Add to that coup her recent Chanel Coco Mademoiselle short film and the upcoming romantic drama Last Night this May.

Leighton Meester

Starring roles: Though she’s the picture of Upper East Side preppy refinement as Blair Waldorf, Leighton’s personal style falls more in the delightfully quirky category. Along with Carey, Leighton is among the most fun and daring of these youthful beauties. Between gigs on Gossip Girl, Meester will next be seen seducing Dr. House himself in The Oranges out later this year.

Mila Kunis

Starring roles: Black Swan propelled Mila Kunis into a completely different stratosphere, one with awards and critical praise. Mila rose gamely to the challenge of red carpet dressing, peaking with this Alexander McQueen number from the SAG Awards. Next she’ll trade in her toe shoes to shack up with Justin Timberlake before hopping a broom for Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Michelle Williams

Starring roles: Michelle had her best style moment at this year’s Oscars when she took my breath away in this simple Chanel column… although her 2006 canary yellow Vera Wang* still holds a special place in my heart. Once upon a Creek, Michelle Williams was Katie Holmes‘ rival, so it makes poetic sense that while Katie is Jackie O, Michelle will play Marilyn Monroe in next year’s My Week With Marilyn.

Anne Hathaway

Starring roles: Honestly, Hathaway’s days as an ingénue are practically through, but having put in her Princess days, she’s succesfully transitioning to a leading lady. She managed to hold up the weight of the entire Academy Awards telecast this year on her bold, tuxedoed shoulders, so her next challenge Anne will be to claw up the screen as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.

*Sidebar: Meanwhile, I forgot how much werq Vera was doing at the Academy Awards that year.

I’m just going to say it: Anna, when is Leighton Meester going to get her Vogue cover? You’ve already given Blake two; both of which were rather uninspiring. Give Gwyneth Paltrow a much-needed break and throw Leighton on there. And for good measure, ban Sienna Miller from ever appearing in another Vogue. Because if you don’t, I will.

And of course Rowley is wearing one of her fabulous designs from the spring 2011 runway. Her glass cabochon top is paired with a feather tutu.

Buzzfeed blesses the world with it’s list of Top 6 Girl-On-Girl Rivalries In History in honor of the show “Bad Girls Club” on Oxygen. The list contains some familiar rivalries like Serena vs. Blair and Angelina vs. Aniston, but I think I’m most disappointed that Perez Hilton vs. Will i am didn’t make the list, those two bitches got screwed!

I’m so happy to have found out that my favorite couple in the entire world will remain together for the new season of Gossip Girl. The show’s executive producer, Stephanie Savage, told PEOPLE:

“Chuck and Blair in a relationship is going to be something very unique and something we haven’t seen before. They have definitely found ways to not be boring.”

The stars of last night’s (again that is assuming you are reading this on Friday, despite it being posted at 4am) Cobra Starship put on quite the show. Gabe Sporta was his usual energetic self moving all across the stage, and while the clip above doesn’t feature the expected “special guest” Leighton Meester, their synth player Victoria takes over just fine. Check out the clip of them performing “Good Girls Go Bad” off their upcoming album Hot Mess, which will hit shelves August 11!

If Jennifer Behr makes good enough headbands for Blair Waldorf, she makes good enough headbands for us. This fall her collection lacks color, but not style. The victorian goth vibe is strong with grey pearls, patent leather, chains and plenty of studs. We wonder if Blair will go the route of Little J and turn a little bit punk while wearing these headbands…

I learned from Buzznet 

that Gossip Girl (the books, not the show) author Cecily von Ziegesar is planning to unleash a new series, Cum Laude, which follows Blair Waldorf to college.  However, in the books Blair attends college in the fictional town of Home, Maine, and meets a new slew of friends to torment.  Fingers crossed that this books series will continue our favorite, best styled show on the CW.  The first two books of the series are due out this fall, just in time for network debuts. Let me know if you hear anything!

I can’t say it better than this:

Like, I get them. I still think they look like the jeans I wear to garden in, and that — at best — they’re really too casual for anything other than daytime running around town, but I GET IT. We’re all wearing our fat jeans out and about right now and that’s okay. It’s temporary. In fact, my theory is that this is a natural next step from how we all started wearing big floaty tops and dresses a few years ago and haven’t entirely stopped: it’s because we all realized that wearing something that didn’t require sucking in our stomachs constantly was DELIGHTFUL. I guarantee, in fact, that I am going to get a pair very much like these at some point — because I am sadly prone to following jeans trends, with the exception of the high-waisted, because I am not totally out of my mind — and that there will then be a point where I am wearing them and I catch sight of myself in a mirror out at the market or whatever and I think to myself, “JESUS CHRIST THESE JEANS ADD TEN POUNDS TO ME WHAT AM I DOING?” but then I’ll be out and about and stuck in them for at least the next hour and then we’ll all be filled with pants-related-regret. I’ll let you know when that happens. But this is not about her jeans, contrary to what you might have anticipated after reading all that. It is not about her matchy-matchy black-and-white color scheme. It is about her freaking headband. It looks like a spitball on her head.  Stop the headband madness, girls. None of us are Blair Waldorf.

Two worlds collide as this trend sweeps the city.  Girly girls are showing their edges with leather jackets, thick chains, and motorcycle boots. I hate to make a Gossip Girl reference, but think Blair Waldorf meets Taylor Momsen (no, not Jenny Humphrey, Taylor Momsen, the not-trying-as-hard-to-be-edgy-version).  I love this look, but would be interested to see edgy girls trying to be more girly…would that have the same effect?

We’ll start at the root of the problem, Ed Westwick. Ed has a band called The Filthy Youth that he has put on hold to finish up with Gossip Girl. If you’re putting your so called “punk” band on hold to shoot a show called Gossip Girl, you shouldn’t be in a punk band. Not to mention the band really isn’t good. Don’t believe me? Check out their MySpace.

Next up Taylor Momsen. Trying to follow suit with Ed Westwick, she started a grunge inspired band called The Reckless that also isn’t good. Her bandmates suck, she’s awkward on stage, and there is a reason she got cut from being Hannah Montana back in the day, because she can’t really sing. I’ve listened to her songs over and over, and she sings in a monotoned voice. The point of grunge music is to scream and squeel, and while she tries she doesn’t succeed. If she really wants to start a band maybe something the in light of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs would be a bit more appropriate. Taylor has the look, she just needs the material to back it up.

And finally there’s Leighton Meester. Much to my suprise, B can sing (but then again so can anyone with auto tune)! Never the less, Leighton has by far the superior voice to the prior two, but again I don’t know where her intentions are with music. She chose to do her major debut doing guest vocals for the hipster dance wannabe’s Cobra Starship, but I’m interested in seeing where her career takes her. She belongs in pop music for sure.

For all these aspiring rock stars, maybe their music should remain a hobby. They will forever be cast in the shadow of their Gossip Girl Upper East Sider shadows. Not to mention, I thought that Jennifer Love Hewitt proved to world that sitcom stars can’t become triple threats (not since Jared Leto I guess, but look at him now!).

Leighton Meester gets my vote for the biggest risk-taker…something about it is so sexy, the matching dress and leggings, with the tie shoes and no jewelry, I love it, def not something Blair Waldorf would rock!

Leighton Meester was spotted at the Byron & Tracey Salon in Beverly Hills yesterday afternoon, with a newly blonded hair do. Not sure if I like it on her, but the color is beautiful.

Leighton wore a high collared gown had ruffled details on the shoulders, and 3/4 of the skirt, with a charming brooch completing the look.

Black wore a strapless dove grey gown, was adorned with feathers around the bodice, which cascaded down one side of her multi-layered chiffon skirt.

The show may not be getting all the viewers they want, but their ad campaign have been great. The latest features the shows stars with different words fake graffitied over their faces. I love it! But where is Chuck Bass? Or my personal favorite Taylor Momsen? I would say where’s Vanessa, but who really cares?

Yes you read that right, I’m over it. I have loved this show since is began, and I will continue to watch it as long as it airs, but it has become an hour of frustration and annoyance rather than entertainment. Say what you will, but this season has been very boring and monotonous. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the whole show about the gossip and drama around the school and between a social clique? There hasn’t been an episode in a long time where they post something on Gossip Girl in order to back stab someone. This last episode was really the icing on the cake that secured my disgust with the show so far. The opening scene random crap? Blair Waldorf a jealous socialite with tons of money who dresses like a mom for an entire episode? Fighting over a school they probably wouldn’t be able to get into due to the fact they never go to school in the first place. The fighting between Serena and Blair has just become annoying rather than a focus of conflict. The only thing worth watching anymore is the drama between the guys, not only is it entertaining, it is realistic (to a point). The whole show has just blatantly sucked, and has taken a focus on fashion (that hasn’t been that great either) and nothing else. Finally, when I thought I had gotten through the whole episode and I began to rejoice, the preview for next week came on. The next episode is so out of left field and has no connection to anything that has happened it’s ridiculous. In case you can’t tell I am a bit annoyed with the show, and I could honestly go on for days with things that have just been awful about the show. What do you think about this season indies? The new J-Crew ads are supposed to be some what reminiscent of every one’s favorite show, Gossip Girl. Uh What? Lets assume that the girl is supposed to be Serena, besides never being seen in J-Crew, she would be decked out in a flashier dress. That Baby Ruth looking piece of shit is not fitting of a Van der Woodsen. I hope that guy in the middle isn’t supposed to be Chuck Bass, mostly because he never wears jeans, and that mix and mash display of dressy and farm boy looks awful. Last but not least, that ugly screen print dress is not fitting of the one and only Blair Waldorf, she would probably slap that poor girl’s eyes round for even trying to look like her. Sorry J-Crew not even you can hack it in the Upper East Side, go back to strip malls in Pennsylvania where you belong.

From Gossip Girl, to Entourage and now an album? Be careful B, talks of an album hit me as a mistake at first, then I heard her sing. Leighton is pretty gosh darn talented if you ask me. Obviously she is no Amy Winehouse (minus the drug abuse), but she can sing a decent note or two. Could this on camera rivalry with Ed Westwick finally start to become a reality? On Gossip Girl Blair is always trying to one up Chuck, and with Ed Westwick frontmanning his band The Filthy Youth, could this be Leighton’s off camera punch in gut? If anyone saw the premier of Gossip Girls on Monday night, they might have caught a glimpse of Blair Waldorf’s bike. Well, that very familiar bike is actually straight off the runway of Cynthia Rowley.

The limited-edition, Cynthia Rowley beach cruiser is customized with a CR-designed floral print in light blue and yellow. The bikes, in mint, baby blue, ivory, camel, light pink, and navy, were ridden down the runway as the fashion show finale.

The Inspiration?

As you can see a couple of our most beloved characters are sporting some pretty high-fashion outfits especially for the television event.

It is floral all the way at this GG wedding, with Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) looking spectacular in a Ralph Lauren yellow tiered halter neck from the designer’s spring 2008 collection. She has even continued the black gloves from the catwalk show for that extra special glamorous touch.

Looking equally glam is Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) in a pink halter neck bubble dress by Australian designer Collette Dinnigan. In typical Blair style, the Queen Bee of GG matches her outfit with pink accessories, not forgetting her signature headband.

The wedding season finale was filmed yesterday on location in New York. In other GG goss, it is rumoured that Lisa Loeb might actually perform on the show… how bizarre!
