I’m really surprised that no one found this sooner, especially since it was directed by Daniel Day Lewis, and stars Keanu Reeves, Robin Wright Penn, Julianne Moore, and Winona Ryder, but apparently years ago Blake Lively starred in an indie film in the UK that aired at the Berlin Film Festival called ‘The Private Lives of Pippa’ where she plays a confused teen involved in drugs and bondage. I don’t think this is that big of a deal, everyone has to get their film start somewhere. Maybe Lively wanted to stray from her role from ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ and show she could be edgy? Needless to say, here’s the trailer to the film that is sparking a ton of controversy over her career..

Here are the two latest trends in nails: the above from Prada’s runway, and the below as seen on celebs such as Blake Lively. I can’t lie, I kinda like the clear plastic add on (not necessarily the length) more than the lace, which seems too bulky. What do you guys think?

Wednesday night at the Clearview Chelsea Cinemas for NYWIFT’s 10th annual Designing Women awards. 

The honorees included Gossip Girl’s hairstylist Jennifer Johnson, makeup artist Marianne Skiba (Law and Order), and costume designer Donna Zakowska (John Adams). While the awards were well deserved there was certainly more fuss over Blake Lively’s presence as a presenter than was given to any of the honorees. 

The ladylike Lively sported TopShop shoes, a Michael Kors bag, and vintage earrings. She said her dress was BCBG but you never saw it because she never took off her Burberry trench.  Cute jacket but what’s up with that Blake?

I really don’t understand the psyche of multifaceted celebrities. Lindsay Lohan started out modeling and then dove into acting, then singing, back to acting, and now back to modeling. Kate Moss took a similar route, starting her career as a model and experimenting with screen acting and singing. Even Gemma Ward left a bitter taste in my mouth after putting modeling on hold to test the waters of the silver screen, an experiment which subsequently caused her to gain weight and will probably end her modeling career altogether. Now, it seems all that is pure and wholesome is taking a turn for the non-existent, multi-talent worse as Chanel Iman has her acting debut on tonight’s Gossip Girl. 

I listened to a YouTube spoiler (don’t worry, i’m not going to say a word) and it failed to mention anything about Iman’s appearance. Maybe her role is very brief. Maybe it’s not a “role” at all and Iman is simply playing herself. Whatever the case may be, the runway is Chanel Iman’s domain. Leave the fake tears, staged drug use and ridiculous scenarios to Blake Lively.

We all anticipated the return of Gossip Girl, and with it the fashions. Monday night’s episode brought us two amazing Marchesa gowns from Fall o8

Leighton wore a high collared gown had ruffled details on the shoulders, and 3/4 of the skirt, with a charming brooch completing the look.

Black wore a strapless dove grey gown, was adorned with feathers around the bodice, which cascaded down one side of her multi-layered chiffon skirt.

The media thinks they are so slick with their little subliminal messages and indirect advertising schemes. But I smell some closed door deals involving the advertisement department of the Vogue corporation and the producers of Gossip Girl. If you’ve pay attention to Vogue and Teen Vogue lately, you’ll notice a common theme: Gossip Girl stars everywhere. With Blake Lively on the cover of Vogue’s February 2009 issue, Leighton Meester on the cover of Teen Vogue’s February 2009 issue and Ed Westwick’s feature in the Teen Vogue’s upcoming March 2009 issue, i’m starting to wonder if Vogue got paid for all of this advertising!  This is no coincidence folks. Call it “giving the reader what they want,” but the first quarter of the new year is bringing Gossip Girl overload to magazine racks, and it’s fishy like a Monday morning at South Street Seaport.

I really wish Ed Westwick would always stay in character but alas he occasionally drops the American bad ass accent and sneering to talk about his love interests (made out with puma Drew Barrymore this year), movies (he’s set to star in the Donnie Darko sequel) and his band (or hopes to establish a new one in NYC).

On a sidenote, did the CW pay Vogue a shit load of money to promote Gossip Girl? Blake is on the cover of Vogue and Eddie and Meester gets Teen Vogue. Coincidence? I think not!!!

Blake Lively in an ill advised attempt to relieve the high school prom of someone ten years older than her decided to wear this Nina Ricci number. Fortunately, she removed the perm enhancer before if completely fucked up her locks.

We’ve seen it knotted into a pony-tail or a bun, but we’ve never seen knotting like this before! Leave it up to Blake Lively to start the knotted hair trend….definitely something to spice up a head of poker-straight hair! I would recommend making sure your hair is brushed out straight before you go knotting it up…oh, and be careful taking it out…wouldn’t want to cut a chunk of permanently knotted hair out now would we?

Blake in last night's episode of Gossip Girl

Blake Lively is the most inconsistent dresser I have seen in a long time. She either looks like a knock out, or she looks not so hot. These two features above are two examples of the not so hot that she was spotted in last night. The outfit from Gossip Girl is unflattering and was much brighter yellow and red on TV. She looked like a slutty McDonald’s worker. I was willing to let that one slide, until I saw these pictures of her at the CFDA/Vogue fundraiser looking like a 45 year old cougar on the prowl. What is that ugly dress. The point of the long printed dress is to look conservative, not like the whore sister of the Quaker Oats guy. I want to know how she can go from looking so good to looking so bad so quickly and frequently. She isn’t even pushing the limits of fashion either. Hey Blake, might be time to start looking for a new stylist.
