This is one of my favorite trends of all time. Unfortunately, I was born in 1986, so my small being never got the chance to wander the city streets on a skateboard with one of these babies on my shoulder. I had to settle for my friend’s driveway in an Ohio suburban neighborhood. I got my chance in high school, when “decades day” came around, to peg my jeans, wear a neon hat and carry a boom-box on my shoulder blasting Madonna and the Beastie Boys. I’ve seen one or two people do this recently, and I humbly tip my hat to them. I hope the few and brave can bring it back; because seriously, what could be better than an impromptu dance party in front of the local bodega on a Saturday afternoon?
