#NYFW Shoe Trend: The Bootie Is Back

Edited by

The skinny stiletto has gone on a long walk for the fall 2012 season, replaced by chunky heels with a more masculine edge. Boots fall in two lengths — ankle length or thigh-high, leaving the mid-calf field all but bare. And black, unsurprisingly is big, but burgundy is a strong color for the season as seen on the runways for Tommy Hilfiger, Alexander Wang, Derek Lam and Diane von Furstenberg, among others.

How to Stay Sheepishly Hot Like Tom Brady

Edited by

While it’s coming up Spring on this balmy February 1st, I find myself thinking about our [mutual] friends in the Midwest. How cold it must be out there, hardly feeling any of the finer effects of global warming. So to you, bundlers of the cold Middle America, we are sympathetic to your dire need to wear suede boots lined with sheepskin. We dug around for some that aren’t, well, ugly. And gentlemen, know the shoes that Tom Brady swears will keep you foot-balls warm.

BROADCAST: Shoes to Get You Through the Cold

Edited by

Shoes are trifle harder this season to navigate, with impending snow and rain and cold, and fine I’ll stop complaining. Point is, boots are put to a tougher test because of the awful conditions they face, so use the right shoes for the weather and let them last longer. Alexander McQueen’s Fall Shoe-In

Edited by

In Sarah Burton‘s vision for Fall 2011 Alexander McQueen, one of the many components she nailed spot-on are the thigh-high open-front lace-up platform heeled boot. In gray. This evokes the “Icy Queen and Her Court” as she envisioned it, while also capturing exactly what we will most certainly be needing in roughly six months’ time. With the peekaboo sliver, I envisage a frenzy of patterned, textured, hued tights that won’t be lost under the many boots to which we’ve grown accustomed. Now just imagine the possibilities if you were to untie, fold and morph the leather, just for kicks. With that, this McQueen boot is a shoe-in for Autumn. In fact, I can already see Lady Gaga working these in my mind.

Snow No More Boots

Edited by

Enough is enough already. I’m over it! I know it’s still only January, but seriously, more snow? Well, I’ll be damned if I’m getting me any more snow boots. I can taste Spring lurking ahead, so I want a shoe today that’s going to protect me in the snow AND take me through April showers.
