London Finally Decides to Man Up: Introducing London Men’s Fashion Week…end

Edited by

Since time immemorial, men’s fashion in London has been relegated to the sidelines, tacked onto the last day of London Fashion Week when all the ladies have strutted their stuff and all the editors are running off to Milan. But no longer. The British Fashion Council has announced the creation of London Collections: Men, a full three days of menswear shows and presentations debuting in June.

As any follower of fashion knows, those four cities are the main fashion capitals of the world and in that order their fashion weeks have progressed for what seems like time immemorial. Well, New York’s moving their fashion week to Sept. 13th to avoid conflicting with Labor Day, but that leaves Milan in a time crunch. And the Italians are not standing for it.

London Fashion Week Getting the Proverbial Shaft When It Comes to Models

Edited by

Damn you, Marc Jacobs. The acclaimed designer had to move his show at the last minute — damn you, Hurricane Irene — causing a whole gaggle of girls who were supposed to fly to London Fashion Week to miss their flight. Then Gucci — damn you, Frida Giannini — pulled a cattle of catwalkers to Milan for early fittings, leaving London designers strapped for supers. All this negligent behavior and diva antics has some London-based model agencies threatening to boycott next season’s London Fashion Week if the British Fashion Council doesn’t get its shit together.
