Amidst a refreshingly buzzy show at Lincoln Center, Timo Weiland presented their first full runway show for Spring 2012. Playful with the sense of youth and adventure that embodies the Timo philosophy, ever chic.

Color Palette: Grows from neutrals of brown, olive and tan to the brightest orange/pink combo we’ve seen in years.

Mood: It’s New York artist goes to Hawaii, revisits 90′s roots.

Statement Pieces: The hat. The HAT! This twist of genius is what would happen if you took a floppy sun hat and chopped it into a baseball cap.

Front Row: Johnny Weir in hot orange bell bottoms – a lady’s runway sample, thank you. And Thomas Jane, HBO’s well Hung man. Mickey Boardman of Paper and Steven Kolb, CFDA CEO also took seat front and center.

Gossip: Steven Kolb nearly opted out of the show, lamenting the late Sunday night timing. But seeing as he was still there at Lincoln Center nearing 9PM, he stuck it out for the CFDA’s newest incubatee.

Runway Music: After a night of marathon ping-ponging with The Strokes’ bassist and his wife, Timo Weiland and (design partner) Alan Eckstein organically grew to collaborate together. Strokes man Nikolai Fraiture arranged the music for the show. Behold the set list:

Girls Names — “Lawrence”
Rolling Stones — “Monkey Man”
La Femme — “Sur La Planche”
Panda Bear — “Last Night at The Jetty”
Dirty Beaches — “Sweet 17″
Suicide – -”Ghost Rider”
Broken Social Scene — “Pacific Theme”
Arthur Russell — “See Through”
Talk Talk — “New Grass”
Happy Mondays — “Loose Fit”
The Strokes — “Hawaii”
The Ramones — “Judy Is a Punk”

Last night’s Mystery Concert at at New York University’s Skirball Theater had students in awe and confusion over the night’s opening act. Pattern is Movement, hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania set the precedent for later act, the French Kicks and headliner, Broken Social Scene. So did they set the bar sky-high or embarrassingly low? Well, it depends on one’s taste in music as a whole.

The general description of Pattern is Movement as an American Indie rock band does not do this two-piece musical concoction justice. Exuding elements of Gregorian chant, early 90′s hip-hop, musical theater show tunes, funk and R&B drum beats, the set performed by band members Andrew Thiboldeaux (vocals, bass and mellotron) and Chris Ward (drums), was not for the closed minded. One shouldn’t dare trying to summarize the band’s style, because in actuality, they don’t even know.

Performing several numbers off of their 2008 album “All Together,” the band’s 50 minute set was like watching two grungy grizzly bears fight their way through music history. With anecdotes sporadically placed, audience vocal participation and the band’s liberty to perform shoe-less and talk about man boobs, the show was personal and intriguing for all audience members.

But to answer the question of whether they killed it or spilled it, there is no definite answer. Some people walked out. Some people gave standing ovations. Some people sat with blank stares. Others danced. And there are those people, like myself, who woke up singing the chorus to “Right Away,” trying desperately to get it out of my head.
