See what the Daily News had to say about Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn.

BROOKLYN’S INDIE DESIGNERS BRIDGE THE GAP

There’s Fashion Week in NYC, which hits Bryant Park Sept. 5-12. Then there’s Brooklyn Fashion Week, which launches Monday. And then there’s Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn. Confused? Don’t be. Something huge sets apart Indie Week from the other two style events: the Brooklyn Bridge.

On Tuesday, the landmark’s walkway will be transformed into a fashion runway to mark the start of the borough’s underground designer celebration, which runs through Sept. 7.

Models will begin walking from the Brooklyn side of the bridge at 6 p.m. and should reach Manhattan at around 6:50 p.m.

Local designers showcasing their work include San & Soni, Love Brigade, Sheila Frank, Alicia Trimbell, Mandate of Heaven and Harriet’s Alter Ego.

“We found designers who are based in Brooklyn and designers with a very strong following in Brooklyn. It’s not just about editors, buyers and celebrities, but also the people who are buying the collections,” says Daniel Saynt, president of Fashion Indie Media, the organization behind the event.

Having grown from three shows last year to 12 this season, the group’s largest event is expected to be the N.Y. Couture Show at the club Mansion on Sept. 10. “We’re expecting about 3,000 people,” says Saynt. “All our fashion shows become a party, and we have giveaways throughout the night.”

Big news Brooklyn based indies. Thanks in large part to our corporate sponsors (Smart Car, Berkeley College, Guru Energy Drink) we’ve been able to reduce our registration fees for Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn!!!

This is big news for the hundreds of boutiques and designers that have already registered but we’re apprehensive to put up the cash for our $500 registration fee. Now you can register for Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn for only $50 bucks. Best of all, all the designers and boutiques who have already registered will get back the cash-money they already put down for registration. (yeah, we’re loaded like that).

If you want more information on the events taking place during Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn head to our info site. If you’re ready to register for Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn, click here to get on the calendar.

We’ve been getting a lot of questions from designers and media who are wondering how Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn compares to Brooklyn Fashion Weak{end}. We’ve decided to provide 15 ways in which our event kicks buttocks, while other Brooklyn based runway shows fail to impress. Hell folks, fashion is war and we’re always ready for battle…

Because 8 > 2.

Because Fashion Indie rocks out harder than Amy Winehouse. We realize that might not be a good thing considering the emphysema thing but oxygen tanks are totally the next TrendSpark.

Because our celebrity appearances will be better than Paulie Shore and the “Oh Face Guy” from Office Space.

Because our models like to party. Like “Kate Moss” party, not “lame-ass second cousin who you never talk to who insists on inviting you to his graduation party” party.

Because Fashion Indie encourages scenarios in which you wake up belligerent after a night of sake bombs with a used Durex in your hand laying next to that random chick you were eyeing on the runway the night before.

6. Because Fashion Indie sees no shame in choreographed dance breaks to “Too Legit Too Quit”.

7. Because Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn is actually taking place during New York Fashion Week, you know that time of year when every editor and buyer in the known universe is in NYC.

You don’t mess with this brand of bad-ass.

8. Because Fashion Indie’s designers are more badass than Steven Segal’s ponytail, Chuck Norris’ beard and Jean-Claude Van Damme’s lack of acting ability combined.

9. Because Brooklyn Fashion Week{end} satisfies less than a happy ending from a one-armed cavedweller from Narnia. See what I did there. It’s called Family Guy humor.

10. Because Brooklyn Fashion Week{end} is going to get as much coverage as a Patrick Swayze bowel movement.

11. Because Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn is going to have more downloads than naked Miley Cyrus pictures.

12. Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn = Beyonce | Brooklyn Fashion Week{end} = that two member of Destiny’s Child that got replaced by Michelle.

13. Because if Brooklyn Fashion Week{end} was a girl you’d paper bag her.=

14. Because Fashion Indie Weekend will get you laid. Corey promises…

15. Because Daniel Saynt will be allowing Fashion Indie Week Brooklyn guests to take bodyshots off his rock solid abs.
