#NYFW Round-Up: FashionIndie’s Faves from New York Spring 2012

Edited by

There’s a definite consensus around the FashionIndie office regarding this season at the tents: lackluster. Gone was the excitement and the thrill of the new and in its stead stood a circus comprised of the old guard impatiently appraising the crop of would-be streetstyle stars and the army of bloggers hanging about as they waded through the muck of the nameless and the irrelevant to find a collection onto which to pin their ever-dwindling hopes . Still, there were a few shows that set the five barely-beating hearts of FashionIndie racing and had our backs aching to be clothed in their bright and bold designs.

#NYFW Cheat Sheet: Buckler Spring 2012

Edited by

Andrew Buckler took his show to the street (literally) for the second season in a row. For and hour a block of the meatpacking district was sectioned off for a group of dandy gentleman and random passerbys to enjoy the runway presentation. Spring knits, nautical stripes, and varsity jackets were given the downtown treatment. Drop crotches, snoods, and distressed denim reminded everyone of the label’s signature style.

Buckler A/W 2011

Edited by

Buckler‘s show on Friday took place outside of their store on Grand Street. For the occasion they shut down the entire block between Greene and Mercer Streets, creating some curiosity from passersby as to why there was a mini- army of gorgeous, well-dressed men parading down the street.

Re(Capsule)

I popped into New York for a quick minute over the weekend so that I could attend my second season of (Capsule), which has quickly trumped New York Fashion Week as my favorite event of the year. With some amazing designers like Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, Denim & Thread, Buckler, Chronicles of Never and April 77, (Capsule) provides buyers and writers the amazing opportunity to see what the hippest designers have planned for the upcoming season. This season featured some of my favorite designers in the industry, and I will be featuring them all week as the pictures roll in from their press offices.

Chronicles of Never Shoes

I was lucky enough to meet and talk to some amazing people and designers from labels like Wrath Arcane, Velour, Naked & Famous, Lova and S2VS. Another season another great success. I can’t wait to see these collections on the shelves in 2009/2010.

First Look: Buckler SS09 Collection

First Look: Buckler SS09 Collection

I remeber going to this show a handful of months ago, and after seeing these images resurface I’m beginning to remember how good the show actually was. The collection looked great and the stlying was well done. I will say looking back on it now, that I think this collection came out a bit early, and it seems like a bunch of the new trends were touched upon but not really done to the best of their potential. They do have a great drop crotch short and the color selection was tight, but there is nothing that really stands out to me anymore. The pieces seem fairly standard to me. Could just be me though, what do you think indies?

Thanks Selectism for the images.

Music blared as models for Buckler’s Spring 09 show strutted down the runway. The collection was revealed with a certain style and precise attitude unattainable by most. As models took the stage the collection spoke for itself. Jackets, shorts, pants, chains and even portions of shirts were revealed for all to judge; we like what we saw! The collection sticks to a specific color palette of whites, blacks, and variations on your favorite reds to make a statement. A variety of material was used including several leather outfits matched with masks for style at its best. Hair nets strode across model’s faces for the ultimate accessory complimenting the perfect outfit. Even the shoes the models wore were specific to their look; they completed each creation without fail.

Runway: Buckler, Fall 08

When Andrew Buckler began seven years ago, launching his line in New York City, who knew that he would make such a statement. The new Fall 2008 line introduces a variety of looks for the catwalk, which the models never fail to strut with diligence. The Fall 08 line is comprised of various pieces including sweaters, pants, jackets, scarves, and of course, the occasional bow tie. Each look clearly fits into the bigger puzzle but not without bringing its own individual flair. As each look presents itself, Andrew is showing his unique take on a “fashion forward” line in confidence.

Thanks to selectism for the pics!
