Coachella Music Festival can be summed up in two words: sensory overload. Music and fashion lovers gathered in numbers around 250,000 in the piping hot desert of Palm Springs for a three day, six stage, 200+ band concert series. In addition to every trendsetter and eccentric in the country, the performances drew in the best of the fashion industry and young Hollywood. When Alberta Ferretti said she was going to mix “real” women with models in her special Pitti Uomo show, she wasn’t kidding around. Camilla Belle, Carmen Dell’Orefice and Paz de la Huerta were among those who walked the runway. Now that awards season has descended upon us all like a blizzard of sequins and tulle, the nation’s red carpets will be crowded with starlets jockeying for attention. Some of them will be there with acceptance speeches in tow, and others will just be happy to be nominated. Then there are those so-called actresses who barely go to the movies let alone star in them, yet are there because they love wearing gowns, heels and chandelier earrings. Their presence is not offensive, rather, they are often among the best dressed…but I defy you to name one movie you’ve seen them in within the last year.

SPREAD UM: Vanity Fair Celebrates West Side Story’s Return to Broadway

I absolutely adore this spread. Vanity Fair always thinks of the most clever little ways to show off fashion. To celebrate the return of West Side Story to Broadway (which I’m so excited about, by the way), the magazine shot this spread as a tribute to the musical. It stars Camilla Belle (as Maria), JLo (as Anita), Rodrigo Santoro (as Bernardo), Chris Evans (as Riff) and Ben Barnes (as Tony). Others including Brittany Snow, Jay Hernandez, Robert Pattinson, Ashley Tisdale and Drake Bell make cameos throughout. Great musical, great fashion and great line-up for this spread have made me very happy. Now if only I could get “I feel pretty” out of my head.
