Take a Trip to Scenic Xitang With Flair Italia

Dark, dreary, chilly – not adjectives that come to mind thinking about editorial spreads in April magazines. But there is a warmth and energy to this one that can’t be described by these visual aesthetics alone. Du Juan stars in the April 2011 Flair Italia spread “Viaggio A Xitang,” a story about the splendor of visiting an ancient, scenic China town captured by photographer Wing Shya. Juan is all dolled-up in the middle of a forlorn scene, a juxtaposition created by stylist Kanako B. Koga. Everything in this tiny, deserted town becomes fascinating, from burning red candles and paper lanterns to goldfish swimming in an aqua green light. It may not sound like much, but chances are you will want to stay awhile.
