The Reformation, named for both Martin Luther’s Reformation to a simpler approach, and for the concept of reforming vintage clothes, is a favorite among reformed shoppers like Leighton Meester, Emma Roberts, and Shenae Grimes. Their reasons for shopping The Reformation on the regular could be its low environmental impact from only using vintage clothing and dead stock fabric, or the one-of-a-kind quality of it being made by hand in-house, or the sexy effects of lace, washed silk, breezy prints and zippers. A striped vintage military blanket was the main piece of inspiration for the Elie Tahari Men’s Fall 2011 line, a collection full of handsome fabrications, exceptional details and a masculine, neutral color palette. Outerwear is a key element, featuring coats with removable linings and leather design details. Updated military influence comes through in contrasting stripes, mandarin collars and brass hardware. Luxurious fabrics like cashmere and ultra-soft wool look warm and sophisticated. The navy blue wall surrounding the model presentation had a burnt orange stripe painted across, a nod to the blanket of first inspiration. Suiting is clean and classic, the perfect essentials for any man wanting to look polished.

The abundance of both traditional and stylized turbans in existence have fallen into fashion as of late, as you may be aware. I’ve been wrapping my cashmere scarf ’round my head all fall and winter long like this. Based originally out of necessity to shelter my ears from the cold, and the terrible noise I was subjected to at Death By Audio in Williamsburg on Halloween the night of my turban epiphany, I grew to adore its versatility and insta-chic effect. Now with Spring so close, I’m adapting my personal turban-tying method to lighter materials: silk, chiffon and the traditional cotton.
