Neil Moodie engineered the “tough pony” for the BCBG Max Azria show here in NY, but it was also seen at Rochas and Calvin Klein. This self-wrapped pony is easy to do yourself.

Making appearances in Missoni, Roberto Cavalli and Prada shows, the fishtail is a fresh, fashionable take on summer plaits. It’ll push your hair out of your face and into the spotlight!

Here’s how to do it yourself, demonstrated by yours truly and my handy MacBook Photobooth app:

Step 1: Separate your hair into two parts. You can do this as a side-braid (as I am doing), or a braid down your back, but you might want to try it on the side first so you get the hang of it and know how it should look.

Step 2: Separate about a half inch of hair (the smaller the piece, the more the braid will look like a fish tail) out of one of the sections, and pull it over to the other section.  Pull the hair from underneath the section when you cross over to get that scaly look.

Step 3: Combine the piece with the new section, then separate about the same amount from this new section and pull it over to the old section.

Step 4: Repeat. It may take a few repetitions for the pattern to appear, so don’t get discouraged if at first you can’t see it!

Voilà ! A perfect summer style in under five minutes!

Cavalli opens the book by writing:  “I am not a real designer… I am a transformer who takes even poor quality fabrics and uses printing and colors to make them glamorous and desirable.” He also goes into brief detail about how he started printing tee shirts as a child in Italy and his first real success when he was introduced to Grace Mirabella, the former editor of American Vogue.

The book starts out with photos of the designer from back in the day as he rubbed elbows with the chicest and most beautiful women of the time.

Beautiful images via famed photographers Mert & Marcus help put the string the book along. Beauties such as Gisele, Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Lara Stone, Heidi Klum & Cindy Crawford pose in Cavalli’s beautiful creations throughout the book.

The book is also full of commentary and praise on the Cavalli legacy by all stars: Bianca Jagger, Beyonce,  Anna Della Russo, Stefano Tonchi, & Glenda Bailey.

Elisa Palomino used to design for Moschino Cheap and Chic, she also worked for John Galliano, Dior, Cavalli and DVF, before she decided to launch her own label. She presented her debut collection yesterday, the decor was so beautiful and a live band was performing for the show

I loved this collection, the pink color omnipresence made me think of the movie ”Marie-Antoinette” by Sofia Coppola, the crazy haird and make-up was AMAZING. This debut floral inspired collection was quite impressive.

I don’t care what anyone says, Sex and the City is one of my favorite shows of all time. Before they went and fucked themselves with the movie (costumes aside), these women were the queen bees. Typical, I know, but Carrie has always been my style icon. But ladies and gentlemen, can we please give it up for Samantha motherfucking Jones. If anyone crossed extreme style boundaries, it was her. She is the only woman on planet earth who can make hot pink and electric yellow power-suits look fabulous. Samantha Jones knows how to work the Cavalli without looking like Euro-trash. She wouldn’t be the same without her 10-pound jewelry, thigh-skimming skirts and clashing colors. She truly doesn’t give a fuck what anyone thinks, and it totally works for her. I hope to age with as much fierceness as Sam has. I leave you with the photos…they tell it all. And if you feel like bashing Ms. Jones for her unique extravagance, remember what she says: “I will wear whatever and blow whomever I want as long as I can breathe and kneel.” You tell ‘em sista.

For some reason this season, dark and dreary fashion ads have been catching my eye. I am loving the Roberto Cavalli fall ’08 campaign featuring Brazilian model of Italian origin Isabeli Fontana. The wild print of the dress against a background of dead trees and smoke is a well-balanced combination. It makes me want to bust out my evening gown and party in the woods. Dark fall fashion truly brightens my day.

The new Harper’s Bazaar features some of the most renowned designers playing out their deepest fantasies, channeling their inner idols, the fun spread is a must-have.  Elbaz of Lanvin is working the Hollywood producer. Michael Kors, Karl Lagerfeld, Donna Karan, Donatella Versace, Alessandra Facchinetti, Giorgio Armani, Alber Elbaz, Rodarte’s Laura and Kate Mulleavy and Roberto Cavalli were all asked to get into character as something other than a designer.

The men took to the silver screen for inspiration, while others channeled forces of nature, animals and royalty. Armani played the role of Fred Astaire, Kors took on James Stewart’s L.B. Jeffries character from Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window, Elbaz reinvented himself as a Hollywood producer with James Bond flair and Cavalli went Gone with the Wind as Rhett Butler; he was shot embracing Coca Rocha as Scarlett O’Hara.
