Nature took its course on the runways from New York to Paris. Bushy brows and bare faces wiped the palette clean. Makeup was used sparingly; a vivd lip here, a midnight eye there. They were brought forth singularly. And the effect breathes refreshingly. Learn how to get the looks, and see which makeup artists put what products on which designers’ runways.

Fair ladies, embrace your Nordic tendencies that render you positively innocent when the makeup goes away. Use a pale pink that ebbs nude and a lengthening mascara.

To get the Dolce & Gabbana look, mix a touch of their two

Purity Pink

What prevailed throughout all of Fashion Week culminated on the crystal cased Chanel runway with embroidered brows by the famed atelier de broderie, Lesage.

If you don't have overgrown eyebrows, or just have fair hair, try like Pat McGrath did at Alexander Wang to give a boyish straight shape by brushing on dark eye shadow.

You could also try an eyebrow palette with angled brushes. The

Raised Brows

Cold and angular eyes stared runways down to the chill of midnight.

Cool Night Eyes

Wing tips take flight again in both multiple lines like at Altuzarra, and with an electric blue shock like at Anna Sui.

To get Pat McGrath's look for Anna Sui, you're going to use a liquid eyeliner and flick it up at the end. Draw the outline and fill it in using

Wingin' It

Like in Rick Owen's show "Offset the Scary", the brightest red will make a look iconic.

Try a look-at-me lip of your own:

Bursting Red Lips

Burning in the fiery shadows of your lids is an orange or red taking up the whole space. You need to span big or else it runs the risk of looking like you've been crying. Not chic. And keep the rest of the face clean, obviously. Go big or go home in tears.

Peter Phillips used several variations of orange at Dries Van Noten. From Make Up For Ever, he used no. 66, a mustard and no. 78, a rusty mandarin. Though those are both discontinued, you can try his third shadow,

Fiery Shadows

This look says power bitch in the sweetest way possible.

How to get it: Spray the brush with hairspray and brush it back. DVF's hair stylist Orlando Pia used

Deep Sleek Side

Adding a dab of white to your cornea brightens the whole eye and makes them look bigger.

Try some Sex to get the look. It's hot.

White Inner Eye

Hot mess dream trend! This look encourages us to fall asleep with our makeup on, roll outta bed and rock the refined raccoon eye. Marc Jacobs approves twice.

Smudged Down

Blackberries haven't gotten this much attention since iPhones hit Verizon. Unfortunately for the smartphone-makers, we're talking color. Perhaps it's the Rooney Mara effect, but oxblood-burgundy lips were everywhere.

On the Gucci runway, Pat McGrath used

Vampy Lips

Just one look at Aline Weber in “The Girl Who Rocks the Planet” from the latest issue of Vogue Nippon and it’s immediately evident who styled it. Living Bratz doll Anna Dello Russo has her kooky claw prints all over this editorial, shot by Giampaolo Sgura in arcades and on the streets of Tokyo. The lion heads, the Balmain, the Cavalli, the Versace, the statemenet eyewear and headgear — disco ball motorcycle helmet anyone? — it all speaks to Dello Russo’s fashion-is-fun/more-is-more aesthetic as well as her own personal style. I mean, I’ve feel like I’ve seen the lady herself in a number of these looks, or at least will in the near future.
Last week, Israeli designers rallied together for Tel Aviv Fashion Week for the first time in decades. Roberto Cavalli helped kick off the week by presenting his own spring collection. Oddly enough though, they only invited press – no buyers. According to the shows’ kickstarting organizer Orif Lev, they are not ready to go abroad. The talent for design is there, but independently producing on a large scale is a daunting task in a place that’s been focused on many things other than fashion. Perhaps this fashion week incite a worldwide demand for Israeli clothing? Take a look at some designers who sent their models walking.

The challenge they face is producing within their boarders, keeping the business in Israel. Much like in the US, labor is more expensive there, and they lack the resources to fully flourish. Each garment becomes more expensive and and yet the quality suffers. According to Eva Cavalli, “There’s also a lot of creativity here, but there has to be more of a focus on techniques and workmanship. That exists here, there is the potential, but it needs to be nurtured.” Lev predicts that the Israel should be ready and capable for production in about 2-5 years. Get ready.

[WWD, WIWT]

The top runway hair trends of Fall 2011 were wielded by the hair stylist superstars of Windle and Moodie. This London based salon by Paul Windle and Neil Moodie is truly run by masters. Paul Windle was the principal of the Vidal Sassoon schools back in the 80s, and left in ’88 to open his own Salon. His prominence grew in the 90s in editorial and on the runway, styling a good number of Vogue covers. He’s also the reason his swear-by products Bumble and Bumble got so popular in the UK. If you’re in Londontown, you may even snag a coveted appointment for a haircut by Windle himself. Neil Moodie took a moment to shows us how to get the season’s coolest hair. From the tough ponied tomboy girlfriend to the teased, hurried and extreme hair of the Fall ’11 runways, Moodie takes you step by step here.

Neil Moodie engineered the “tough pony” for the BCBG Max Azria show here in NY, but it was also seen at Rochas and Calvin Klein. This self-wrapped pony is easy to do yourself.

Judging by my stifling morning subway ride, summer is definitely here. For us long-haired goddesses, with hot temperatures and humid heat comes frizz, frizz, frizz. Beat the heat and your hair into submission by putting a twist into your daily routine with one of summer’s hottest trends for hair – the fishtail braid.

Making appearances in Missoni, Roberto Cavalli and Prada shows, the fishtail is a fresh, fashionable take on summer plaits. It’ll push your hair out of your face and into the spotlight!

Here’s how to do it yourself, demonstrated by yours truly and my handy MacBook Photobooth app:

Step 1: Separate your hair into two parts. You can do this as a side-braid (as I am doing), or a braid down your back, but you might want to try it on the side first so you get the hang of it and know how it should look.

Step 2: Separate about a half inch of hair (the smaller the piece, the more the braid will look like a fish tail) out of one of the sections, and pull it over to the other section. Pull the hair from underneath the section when you cross over to get that scaly look.

Step 3: Combine the piece with the new section, then separate about the same amount from this new section and pull it over to the old section.

Step 4: Repeat. It may take a few repetitions for the pattern to appear, so don’t get discouraged if at first you can’t see it!

Voilà ! A perfect summer style in under five minutes!

In celebration of the fortieth anniversary of Roberto Cavalli’s amazing career, this gorgeous retrospective includes photos of supermodels then and now, personal photos, images from past advertising campaigns, and notes from Cavalli’s friends and celebrity clients.

Cavalli opens the book by writing: “I am not a real designer… I am a transformer who takes even poor quality fabrics and uses printing and colors to make them glamorous and desirable.” He also goes into brief detail about how he started printing tee shirts as a child in Italy and his first real success when he was introduced to Grace Mirabella, the former editor of American Vogue.

The book starts out with photos of the designer from back in the day as he rubbed elbows with the chicest and most beautiful women of the time.

Beautiful images via famed photographers Mert & Marcus help put the string the book along. Beauties such as Gisele, Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Lara Stone, Heidi Klum & Cindy Crawford pose in Cavalli’s beautiful creations throughout the book.

Pure opulence are two words that I would use to describe the pieces featured. Lush and ultra-chic are also words that are synonymous with the names Roberto Cavalli and Kenneth J. Lane. Roberto Cavalli, known for both his embellished clothing and fabulous accessories, knows exactly how to make women swoon with his big and bold renditions. Just the name Kenneth J. Lane, evokes visions of fanciful, sparkling, eye-catching statements. I personally wish that he would go back into his “archives” and revive some of those huge, rhinestone accented, bib necklaces that he created during the sixties and seventies. The first picture is of a necklace that I owned back in 2007 and sold on EBay to a lady in Italy. Now that I look at it again, I almost wish that I’d kept it! It had a matching bracelet, but I could never get my hands on it. This particular piece was actually from a collection of his from the eighties….I purchased it, in perfect condition, from a thrift store for about $8. Vintage pieces were still pretty plentiful in the thrift stores, in my area in 2007 and I was sure that I would run across the same or a similar necklace. Well, so far that hasn’t happened….maybe one day. Until then, I’ll enjoy “today’s” fabulous pieces!

I loved this collection, the pink color omnipresence made me think of the movie ”Marie-Antoinette” by Sofia Coppola, the crazy haird and make-up was AMAZING. This debut floral inspired collection was quite impressive.

Before they went and fucked themselves with the movie (costumes aside), these women were the queen bees. Typical, I know, but Carrie has always been my style icon. But ladies and gentlemen, can we please give it up for Samantha motherfucking Jones. If anyone crossed extreme style boundaries, it was her. She is the only woman on planet earth who can make hot pink and electric yellow power-suits look fabulous. Samantha Jones knows how to work the Cavalli without looking like Euro-trash. She wouldn’t be the same without her 10-pound jewelry, thigh-skimming skirts and clashing colors. She truly doesn’t give a fuck what anyone thinks, and it totally works for her. I hope to age with as much fierceness as Sam has. I leave you with the photos…they tell it all. And if you feel like bashing Ms. Jones for her unique extravagance, remember what she says: “I will wear whatever and blow whomever I want as long as I can breathe and kneel.” You tell ‘em sista.

For some reason this season, dark and dreary fashion ads have been catching my eye.
For some reason this season, dark and dreary fashion ads have been catching my eye. I am loving the Roberto Cavalli fall ’08 campaign featuring Brazilian model of Italian origin Isabeli Fontana. The wild print of the dress against a background of dead trees and smoke is a well-balanced combination. It makes me want to bust out my evening gown and party in the woods. Dark fall fashion truly brightens my day.

The new Harper’s Bazaar features some of the most renowned designers playing out their deepest fantasies, channeling their inner idols, the fun spread is a must-have. Elbaz of Lanvin is working the Hollywood producer. Michael Kors, Karl Lagerfeld, Donna Karan, Donatella Versace, Alessandra Facchinetti, Giorgio Armani, Alber Elbaz, Rodarte’s Laura and Kate Mulleavy and Roberto Cavalli were all asked to get into character as something other than a designer.

The men took to the silver screen for inspiration, while others channeled forces of nature, animals and royalty. Armani played the role of Fred Astaire, Kors took on James Stewart’s L.B. Jeffries character from Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window, Elbaz reinvented himself as a Hollywood producer with James Bond flair and Cavalli went Gone with the Wind as Rhett Butler; he was shot embracing Coca Rocha as Scarlett O’Hara.
