Micky Green is Sebastians Newest IT Girl independent beauty

Michaela Green is Sebastian’s newest it girl, following Charlotte Ronson and Corey Kennedy. Born in Australia, this singer/songwriter/model’s claim to fame was her first album, titled ‘White T-Shirt.’

We love Sebastian, we’re just not sure why they pick girls who permanently look drunk, but I’d appreciate a bit more consistency in the choosing of their ‘fresh faces.’

What Recession? Condé Nast Helps Us Forget.

Pranna

A friend of mine and I were having a conversation the other day about the economic situation (see, I’m not so vapid after all!).  I was making a point that here in New York we’re largely sheltered from the issues affecting the rest of the world.  “We don’t live in reality, we live in Manhattan,” I said.  The more I thought about it, the more it seemed like a truism: does a falling economy make a sound if no one’s there to hear it?  Reflecting on this week’s set of events, I realized there was a huge disparity between the daily headlines and the daily life in New York’s media microcosm.

Just last week there were reports that receptionists at Condé Nast were being given the boot and editors would have to (gasp!) answer their own phones.  Amid this news, it came as quite a surprise that the same company spared no expense to throw the Condé Nast Traveler Hot List Party at chic Madison Avenue dining spot, Pranna.

Though I had no idea what to expect as I exited the cab on the side of 28th street, the step-and-repeat with an actual red carpet set up outside immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening.  I waited for Kelly Bensimon of The Real Housewives of New York to finish up on the carpet before my turn came around.  After posing for photos, I was whisked inside where cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and fabulousness awaited.

The dimly lit restaurant exploded with light every few seconds as camera flashbulbs went off inside, illuminating whichever startlet or social had just arrived.  After securing a drink downstairs and scoping out the provenance of the hors d’oeuvres, we made our way to the VIP area on the second floor.

This cordoned off section seemed to be the location of a Real Housewives reunion as we first bumped into Alex McCord with husband Simon Van Campen before noticing Jill Zarin and her auburn hair floating around.  Nestled in the back with friends was Lydia Hearst wearing a green art-deco frock while two seats away was the stunning Katrina Bowden who’s taken advantage of her role on 30 Rock to become a staple on the event scene.

As if on a mission to disprove the recession, the next night Lucky Magazine—another Condé Nast title—threw a party with designers/socialites Charlotte Ronson and Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss to celebrate their swimwear collaboration.

We might have used one of Ronson and Gruss’s bathing suits to swim through all the free-flowing champagne coming from the open bar at Above Allen in the Thompson LES but alas they were not on display.  No, this event was a social and celebratory one with mother Ann Dexter-Jones coming to support her daughter.  Lindsay Price, most recently of Lipstick Jungle, made an appearance as did Real Housewife Jill Zarin once again.  For some reason that woman looks like she’ll clock you if you look at her the wrong way.

As we looked out the floor-to-ceiling windows upon a glittering downtown cityscape, champagne and camera flashes abounding behind us, it dawned on me: if you can live in a fantasy, why not?  We all come to New York to chase a dream so why not wrap yourself in it like a plush cashmere blanket?  Grab a class of champagne, barbeque shrimp puff and smile for the cameras.

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Charlotte Ronson Fall 2009 emerging fashion

Charlotte Ronson rocked with a closet worth of need to purchase immediately looks. Big ups to the girls accessories which included must have studded leather gloves and aviator vests.

That’s what we had to say about Charlotte Ronson’s Fall 2009 collection, check out what everyone else said.

1. WWD: Ronson’s flirty nerds have gone fierce with a wardrobe full of black leather and body-hugging knits, but she tempers them perfectly with Forties references like aviator vests and high waists, resulting in just the sort of look her youthful customers will love.

Quick Notes on Charlotte Ronson

1. Lindsay is way too thin. Jesus chica eat something. Suggestion: carpet.

2. Leather gloves with studs are too murder for.

3. Dani from Nylon and Lindsay are total BFF’s.

4. Faran Kitching was totally a seat buddy. It ain’t Marc Jacobs, there were other seats to sequester babe.

5. Former Voice fashion writer, Lynn Yaeger, frontrow? Someone called in a favor or have Charlotte’s people not received the note?

6. All of Fashion Indie’s 7 writers got in. Yeah, we’re a bit obsessed with Charlotte.

7. I’m officially in love with standing room, gave up my seat cause by shoulders are way to broad to be comfortable.

ADDICT: J.C. Penney Advertising Like One of the Cool Kids magazines

I’ve always associated J.C. Penney with oxford shirts and penny loafers. Why, you ask? Because Catholic grade school required that we wear them. I’ve never considered the department store as fashionable, but I never complained because a trip to that particular mall meant a trip to Deb. And if you don’t remember the glory days of Deb, it was where I bought everything to resemble the style of Cher Horowitz. Regardless,  this advertisement for J.C. Penney featuring the Charlotte Ronson line isn’t half bad (even though the clothes really aren’t that cute). Now if only Deb would come out with a Clueless line, I’d be set for life.

Thanks to The Wall Street Journal for the photo.

Don’t Waste Your $: Charlotte Ronson for JC Penney

I may not be the biggest fan of collaboration lines that lack designer aesthetic for the sake of affordability, but Charlotte Ronson definitely didn’t sacrifice her style for the JC Penney collaboration. Come February 2009, Ronson’s boring, mainstream and lackluster designs will hit the shelves of JC Penney in her collaboration collection ‘I Heart Ronson.’ Well, I’m sure you can already tell that I don’t ‘Heart Ronson.’ More floral print, more stripes, more plain sweaters…great…I can get this stuff anywhere looking ten times better! You may disagree with me completely and think these photos look great, but take into account the styling! Wear any of these pieces alone and yeah, it will look like you spent $9.99 for it at JC Penney. Come on fashion industry, bring me a collaboration i’ll actually like for once!

Thanks NYLON!

Really? Wayfayers? Are You Stuck In Last Years Ville or What?

Screaming Tokyians went running down the streets when they heard the star of such international hits as “I Know Who Killed Me” and “Live from Samantha Ronson’s Cooch” was setting down on their fair city to announce the launching of a handbag she designed with future sister in law Charlotte Ronson.

The hotter twin from The Parent Trap also attended Charlotte’s first Japanese runway show and enjoyed a break from all the L.A. paparazzi. Wait, Lindsay’s not important enough to stalk when she’s abroad?  Bitch, you better get back onto some hard drugs and drinking, maybe a public flashing of pubic or something cause your movies have blown since Mean Girls, your handbag looks like something you vomited up by a failed Project Runway contestant and Samantha isn’t exactly a dick magnet for all the cameramen.

The Lohsters bag is “a slouchy canvas satchel with leather pockets and studded charms” and it’s only being sold at Charlotte Ronson stores in Japan. Lindsay Lohan’s second foray into fashion won’t be her last. She’s been talking with Italy’s Fornarina about developing a full collection, since starring in the brand’s latest ad campaign. So you here that indies, Lindsay wants to dress you up. You’ve been warned.

Thanks to WWD for reporting on Lindsay Lohan when no one else would.

Apparently Cory Kennedys Head Isnt That Good all indie

I can’t say I saw this lasting too long either, but it comes as a bit of a shock that Miss. Kennedy was dropped as the face of Sebastian. Her replacement? Charlotte Ronson (not that much better). I guess it kind of makes sense to drop her, I mean she was the spokes person for a hair care company, yet she doesn’t take care of her hair. It’s okay Cory you’re young. Just because Sebastian didn’t like your head, doesn’t mean other 30+ year old men (like your ex-boyfriend) won’t pay good money for it.

Charlotte Ronson Hits Up The Penney

Charlotte Ronson Hits Up The Penney

J.C. Penney has just signed a massive long-term deal with New York-based designer Charlotte Ronson to design a full line of sportswear for the ancient retailer called I [Heart] Ronson. The collection is set to hit 600 stores and will hit jcp.com by Spring 09.

“Targeted toward the 21- to 35-year-old women, the line includes tees, knit tops, blouses, sweaters, jeans, skirts, dresses and jackets.

Prices are about $15 for layering tees and tank-tops, $26 to $44 for tops sweaters and jeans and $40 to $65 for dresses and jackets.”

This is the biggest news to hit the indie scene in some time as Charlotte has always been a fashionindie favorite with her collection of vintagy goods.  I just wonder if her national street cred is enough to get devoted Ronsoners into the unsettling cavern of retail hell that are the malls of America to shop for her dresses and tops at J.C. Penney. Either way, we give massive snaps to Charlotte Ronson to booking such a major deal. I wonder if this means that Lilo and Samantha will be hitting up the Penney to help endorse Charlottes goodies?

Thanks to CNN for pointing this bitty out.

I found Waldo. Hes Right There Snorting Lines of Coke with Lindsay Lohan emerging fashion

Let’s file this one under idiotic concepts to market.

Waldo, that random dude with the striped shirts and blue pants turned 21 this year, and to celebrate, the constantly misplaced one decided to attend a couple of fashion shows. I’m guessing they’re trying to make Waldo seem cool and hip cause he partied with walking venereal disease Lindsay Lohan and her shim “friend”.

While it’s great that Waldo is finally trying to fit in, it’s weird that for his relaunch he didn’t get a new look. The red and the blues need to go and those nerd glasses are officially over. Plus, why are they trying to market this dude to the fashion set?

If you really wanted to bring him back from the 80s, he really needed an updated look and possibly a blockbuster movie attached. I see Waldo as a Swiss spy who uses a special transporter to enter various periods in time in which he must collect secrets and remain incognito amongst crowds of thousands. Then at various periods of the movie you’d scan back and have the audience attempt to find Waldo. Oh, joy. That would be a movie I’d consider adding to my Netflix cue.

Charlotte Ronson and Shoshanna Gruss have linked for the ride of the lifetime. The duo, longtime pals, have decided to mend on a collaboration. The line, which will be titled, Made with Love, will be a swimwear collection for everyday style as you strut on the beach. The line will be sold at Charlotte’s SoHo store with hopes of it being picked up by other stores in the future.
