Summer got an early start last night at The Standard Biergarten where Chandon launched its Limited Edition Summer Bottle in collaboration with SPiN New York. Celebs including Estelle, Charlotte Ronson, Mario Cantone, Lorenzo Martone and the Patriots’ Bret Lockett enjoyed mini-bottles of Chandon, bespoke cocktails and sumptuous snacks while balls flew in every which way during a pro ping-pong tournament. Ah, that rich citrus scent wafts smokily through New York Fashion Week as many designers are using burnt orange as a carrying color throughout their collections. With varying tones of vibrance, this hue skews dark, often mixed with maroons and deep aqua greens á la Costello Tagliapietra and Band of Outsiders. In a thousand textures and a million ways, expect to see more orange burning to the ground in Fall 2012.

Last Friday, Nicole, Mac and Amanda helped me pick out a suitable black tie outfit to attend the New York Botanical Garden’s 12th Annual Winter Wonderland Ball. Considering the majority of my wardrobe consists of  harem pants and the occasional billowy blouse, my closet was ill-equipped to meet the challenge. Thus we made an Indie field trip over to our local H&M and in a matter of minutes we had whipped up a say-something formal look — all for under $200, thank you. I was glad we had made the detour as, upon walking in, I was immediately confronted by a room full of gorgeous gowns and immaculate tuxedos. The Bronx, even in the alleged claws of Jennifer Lopez,  had never seemed so glamorous.

I usually don’t LOVE collections, at least it’s very rare that I can honestly say that I loved an entire collection, but I really did enjoy the Charlotte Ronson show. The pieces were not only original, they were beautifully draped, and even though they were see through, making them not as wearable as I’d like, this is what makes them dramatic and very Ronson.  Loving the bright colors, the hits of floral prints, and the embellishments.
