The Jewish Christmas Eve Chinatown Express Guide

Edited by

Oh goy! While all of your gentile friends will be off with their families on December 24th celebrating the birth of baby Jesus, you, the Jew, will most likely be chowing down on Chinese food and catching a flick at the theater. This isn’t discrimination – those are my plans, too. The only questions that remain: where to go and what to wear? We’ve scouted out a few restaurants all over town, wherever your priorities lie. Authentic food? Open seating? Free wine?? Yeah, we’ve got you covered. Merry Christmakah.

Fei Fei Sun’s Guide to Shanghai and Designers to Watch

Edited by

About three years ago, Fei Fei Sun was just a gal about China, hangin’ with her boyfriend in Shanghai. Several Paris Fashion Week video viewings later, and she’s got the bug to wear it all; to be there in it. Fortunately her razor sharp jawline and chameleon abilities have allowed just that and she skyrocketed her to the fashion stratosphere.. Her first season out, she walked 30 shows without knowing a lick of English. Which I suppose proves the point that you can get by on just your good looks (and in this case, polite, intuitive silence and a fearsome smize). If you turn the tables and find yourself in Shanghai without knowing a damn word in Chinese, check what Fei Fei Sun advises you eat, see and shop in her city.

Paperself Eyelashes

Edited by

SOURCE:Paperself Eyelashes
I love paperself. Simply, they create magical things out of paper. I would happily pay them a lot to make me a house out of paper. Or even a big spikey box would be amazing.
They have very much outdone themselves with these new paper false lashes.
At only £12 a pair, i’m buying them all.
Available at luna and curious.

The inspiration comes from the art of Chinese paper-cutting.

‘Intricately cut and delicately pretty, Eyelashes are available in three styles, each infused with symbolic meaning rooted in Chinese culture:

Horses: symbolic of success
Peony: for happiness and good fortune
Peach blossom: a symbol of love and romance

Unique and expressive, Eyelashes come in two sizes: accentuate the corners of your eyes with the smaller lashes for a subtle daytime look, or make a statement with the full lashes for a special occasion.

and they ‘re even beautifully packaged,
Paperself Eyelashes.
Yes yes and yes. I have two pairs to try, so look out for the photos.

Louis Vuitton” Trunks and Toys” Exhibit Manila July 15 – August 5, 2010

Edited by

Owing to Louis Vuitton’s birthday, I would like to inject a little whimsy in my blog. Not too long ago, LV sponsored an exhibit entitled “Trunks and Toys” in my hometown, Manila. Since I am 8,562 miles away, there was no way that I could view it. Thankfully with the advances in technology and absolutely LVoely people, the exhibit came to me which I would like to share with all of you. The toys are from the founding family, a testimony to their passion for anything to do with travel. The exhibit also includes some antique trunks that were shipped all the way from Asnières, France. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I did. LVoe, LVoe, LVoe it!!!Louis Vuitton Trunks and Toys Exhibit Manila July 15 August 5, 2010 1889 Ostrich

Two things I realize about this post: 1) caged heels have been big all summer and 2) I am stretching it slightly to lump #7 into the category of caged heels. Two things you should know in response 1) all of the above shoes are reasonably priced (score!) and 2) I'm in love with #7!

In all seriousness, right now is the perfect time to pick up a pair (or two) of these if you haven't already. First of all, 5 out of 8 of the above shoes really are on sale and 3 out of 8 are under $100! Second, almost any of the above would make a great transition shoe into the fall because of the boot-like silhouette.

PS – if you’re not familiar, I would highly recommend following either of the Nine West links below to Shoe Woo. I’m in love with this sight – it’s all about shoes on sale!

  1. Joni, Nine West $39.99 (orig. $89)
  2. Vicki Cage Platform Bootie, Rosegold $117 (orig. $168)
  3. Belle, Sigerson Morrison $127.50 (orig. $255)
  4. Pancho Cutout Peeptoe Sandals, TopShop $180
  5. Val, Nine West Boutique 9 $159 (orig. $199) – sorry, only black is left
  6. Lucky Strike Sandal, Chinese Laundry $71 (orig. $89.95)
  7. Annton, Steve Madden $129
  8. Olivia, Coconuts $65
