Waris Teaches Haider Ackermann & Tilda Swinton How To Dye in Paradise

Edited by

On the luscious Thai island of Yao Noi, the House of Waris Batik Lab held its first session. When the elite guests of the Film on the Rocks film festival weren’t viewing flicks on the floating movie theater, Waris Ahluwalia gave them the opportunity to learn the ancient wax dyeing technique, Batik. Waris (a jewelry designer and occasional actor) arranged for a group of local artisan women to demonstrate the process, in celebration of his batik scarf collection hitting stores now. The final result will be revealed at a gala in Bangkok, with proceeds going a film-centric children’s charity. Come be a Thai fly on the wall at Waris’s brilliant meeting and enhancing of the minds.

But point is, if you can afford Dior, we’d really like to see you in Rick Owens. How do you feel about celebs in t-shirts?

Straight Man Complaint: High Waisted Shorts

Edited by

I may be known to boast a high waisted short from time to time, and regularly advise you to do the same. And we know why we wear them – when done correctly, they can be quite the flatterer to a figure. But last night, as I wore a pair of long man’s shorts done up high at the waist, belted for definition, I discovered, and this may come as a shock to all but The Man Repeller: Straight men don’t like them.

RED CARPET REPORT CARD: The Good, the Bad & the Gaga at the CFDA Awards

Edited by

The CFDA Awards red carpet fell somewhere in between Grammy gauche and Oscar opulence. I thought there would be more formal, black-tie, floor-grazing-gown business à la the Met Ball, but some people showed up in jeans while there was enough leg on display to put KFC out of business. But the fashion grab bag of last night’s red carpet provided a few hits, a ton of misses and then of course there was the Gaga factor.
