10 Sexiest Attempts at New York & London Fashion Week

Four words have damn near killed all sexiness on the runway: Downton Abbey. Mad Men. Actually, pattern mashing on hip padding with funny furry hats hasn’t helped. A barrage of wildly cool man-repelling looks sauntered down Fall 2012 runways, but sexy was rather difficult to locate. A straight man, who shall remain nameless, and I went through thousands of photos. Through a sea of “Eww”s and “Ugh”s and “I’d fire that designer”s, we found a handful of looks that qualify as sexy. Keep in mind, we mean sexy, not slutty, so all boob-bearing, thigh rising, skin tightening looks were overlooked. We’ll take curves that these designers presented, thank you. And while this Fall’s sexiest looks might not get your panties wet, they may just get your britches in a twist.

Bright red lips are an obvious trend for Fall 2012 – we’ve literally been seeing them at every other show. But a bit more brooding and certainly a big statement, gothic lips are going to be huge come the changing of the leaves. Vogues Paris and Italia have been no strangers to them, historically. American Vogue avoids them completely. Purple Mag masterfully exploits them. And New York Fashion Week is busting at the seams with them. We’re talking about boobs. Once relegated to the awkward nip slip, now the tits forward march dominates catwalk, and we love the sheer audacity. These are looks that may remind your man how sexy you can look in that see-thru floor length Yigal Azrouël, if only he buys it for you. Share your desire to replicate these runway looks at home alone with him, then layer into them when you step out in the big bad sadly non-nudist world. Because while you can’t see tits on the radio, you can see them on the runway. Happy Valentine’s Day.

We’ve had our rounds of snowfall this New York Fashion Week. Flurries have caught us on our guard on and off the runway. Our screens got fuzzy as we watched busy black and white patterns flurry past.  Designers like Alexander Wang, Christian Siriano, Catherine Malandrino and others have already got the buzz, more are likely to follow suit.

Project Runway alum Christian Siriano may be a worldwide household name, but we all know that in order to join the fashion club, exclusivity is the name of the game.  Coping with the blow of rejection from the coveted Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), this feisty designer has been taking his celebrity persona down a vertiable notch.  He toned down the hair. He edited the organza sculptures he had become known for. He even gave up his trademark word fierce.  Siriano may be evolving as a designer, but who for?

The Christian Siriano girl is quickly becoming a lady — a lady who lunches on the town then paints it red, or in this case — and for spring 2012 in general — coral. The first eight looks were the obvious highlight — the designer’s cleanest and most sophisticated yet. After that, it meandered a bit with a few hits along the way before the finale gowns floated down the runway.
