Alexander McQueen Demanta Leather Skull Clutch

When I first heard news of Alexander McQueen‘s passing, I thought to myself, what items from his collection should I buy in order to keep his ingenious legacy close to me. Skulls is synonymous with his design and hence unsurprisingly, the skull print silk scarves were the first to fly off the retail shelves upon news of his passing. I am not a scarf person, having amassed quite a few and still have not let them see the daylights under Singapore’s hot sun, so I reckon I will hunt for something else.

Finally, after much patience, I found a piece of Alexander Mcqueen worthy of safekeeping in my ever expanding accessories collection. This Alexander McQueen De-Manta Leather Skull Clutch is one of the most uniquely shaped clutches to be created. Unconventional and first seen on the runway of Mcqueen’s highly talk-about Spring Summer 2010, featuring lots of reptilian prints. The interesting clutch design manifested as a multi-coloured python skin version that matched seamlessly with those shocking armadillo heels.

For next Fall 2010 season, the clutch returns in a full black leather with embossed skull motif, very Mcqueen but more biker chic than exotic! Most appropriate to be my Mcqueen trophy piece…. great for match up on party gear or fashion extravaganza. At US$625, it’s also humanly affordable. Now I just need to keep a look out for the clutch at On Pedder or Club 21!

McQueen has been killing it with the clutches lately. Although incredibly pricey this masterpiece can be used as more then just a clutch; Luxist points out how it could be used for self defense, not that anyone would try to mess with you once you slip 4 of your fingers through these skull and diamond incrusted holes. I think I’ll save up for this clutch in place of self defense classes.

Michael Teperson Clutch

Michael Teperson‘s designs in general didn’t strike me. They’re nice, but pretty grown-up-looking and plain. This Flute Feather Clutch is the exception. I’m obsessed with the Olsens and birds, so I love wearing anything feathery. I usually go faux to avoid having to pop Claritin all day, but I think this clutch is so hilarious and wonderful.

Teperson released his first collection of accessories in 2004, a few years after wrapping up studies at Parsons (Paris), the Royal College of Art, and Central St. Martin’s.
