MOMENTS OF STYLE: Coco Rocha

Picture 1How Coco Rocha didn’t melt shopping the Meatpacking District, in the middle of July, in leather boots, a velvet top and a fur vest is completely beyond me. Regardless of her premature fall garb, Rocha is totally rocking next season’s fur-trim trend and definitely knows a thing or two about mixing textures!

Thanks Vogue!

CFDA Fashion Awards: What They Wore

The most exciting part of the CFDA Fashion Awards for me are what the fashion insiders show up  in. The Oscar’s of Fashion, the CFDA’s never disappoint. This year the typical uniform of black, white and gray was present with an overwhelming amount of pink and red dresses. Coco Rocha, above, looks effortless in her one shoulder red dress with her newly died locks. Click the gallery to see the splashes of color, I didn’t choose these rouge and rose colored dresses on purpose – they really were everywhere!

Coco Gets Dark

Coco Gets Dark all indie

Coco Rocha has left behind her redhead days (for now).  According to a new photo on her blog, Coco has gone black.  Her face is the kind of blank model palette that’s perfect for pulling off just about any look.  I’d really like to see her as a platinum blond next.

And I’m trying to ignore the “curtains-matching-the-drapes” questions in the blog post’s comments.

Coco Lets Us Know That Models Are Thieving Bitches and Casting Directors Are Assholes Before Their Morning Coffee emerging fashion

Style.com followed Coco Rocha around backstage at Matthew Williamson’s show. We discovered that Angus Munro doesn’t like being called “little” or “cute”, models will steal shit and then frame you, and sacred hair from Indian temples is used once and then thrown away. Oh, fashion you little whore you.

Modelinia has debuted a new web video series called “Spiked Heel: Supermodels Battle the Forces of Evil.” It stars Heidi Klum and Coco Rocha as supermodel superheroes out to save Fashion Week from Dr. Faux Pas.

OK?!?!

Candy Hearts for Fashion Week all indie

Modelinia has one-upped themselves on the election-themed buttons from the last Fashion Week.

For the Fall 2009 shows they’ve stamped a million candy hearts with model-related sayings. They’ll be in Alexander Wang’s gift bags and the W lounge.

I will be trolling ebay next week for the “KISS KARL” heart.

Wall Street Makes an Elite Defeat

Wall Street Makes an Elite Defeat emerging fashionThe modeling industry isn’t just about smiling wide and looking pretty. Oh no, like any other big business it’s about money in the bank and with the recent economy slump, Elite had to cut 60 girls from their lives of glamour, fame and jet-setting. No worries though, big names like Coco Rocha, Alice Burdeau, Emma Beam, and Stephanie Carta are still rocking catwalks and magazine covers. But for those of you America’s Next Top Model fans, we’re not exactly sure what is going to happen to recently signed reality show rejects Anya and Katarjyna. Rumor has it that they are “out of town.” Sure.

It’s a shame Elite couldn’t find it in their hearts to can “It” girl Harley Viera Newton. Yuck.

Thanks Fashionista!

After taking a stand on model health at the CFDA luncheon, Coco Rocha proves that you don’t have to have the “anorexic look” to take a beautiful picture. In this “white” campaign for Neiman Marcus, Coco channels geisha-like makeup and hair, looking ethereal, exotic, and all the more gorgeous because she isn’t a skeleton draped in expensively styled fabric. More shots below—and I’m having issues deciding which one resonates the most …

Coco Rocha Gives Us the Skinny on Skinny emerging fashion

“She wakes up in the morning, goes to the bathroom to take a shower and runs by the full-length mirror because she can’t bare to look at herself naked. She only weighs 104 pounds, but all she can think is, I need to be thinner. She hurries to her first show, where she promises herself she’ll eat a few grapes. But when she gets there, there’s nothing but pastries. First looks are called, she puts on her dress and it takes three people to zip her up. The dresser makes a joke, ‘We almost had to call the agency and tell them you didn’t fit.’ All the girl can think is, I better not eat until tomorrow.”  - Coco Rocha on the pressure to stay thin.
