Now here’s an effective way to soften the classic black combat boot. For the Spring 2012 show, English label Ashish used a handsome boot bouquet of wildflowers to lend a funky hand before sending models down the runway during London Fashion Week. Which way would you wear them?

In a fantastical dream last night, I was skipping through hot fields packed with wildly garbed people and hula hoops. Ahead of me, The Black Keys were electrifying “Everlasting Light” on a massive stage, and behind me there was a great deal of foofaraw; including a giant glowing structure built of egg cartons and, oddly enough, each of my head scarves. I was floating, lighter than air, and every time I looked down at my feet, I was wearing a different pair of Dr. Martens. Metallic high tops! Purple polka dot creepers! Impressionist floral combat boots! And each time the Docs made a switch, The Sartorialist, Scott Schumann, snapped a picture of me. Meanwhile Garance Doré was across the field with 3 trailer trucks and a bevy of models, lighting, and incidentally, glow sticks, whilst she directed a photo shoot. When I turned back, The Black Keys had stopped, and the president of Dr. Martens takes the mic to welcome us all to Coachella 2012.
There can only be one explanation for such a dream….

Target has done it again, an incredible collaboration with Dolce Vita. The collection is comprised of various flats and boots. Two of the hottest trends this fall will be the military style and shoes/boots with hardware. This collection has a great pair of combat boots for $34.99. This particular pair of boots can turn you into a Williamsburg Hipster, but you have to have the attitude to match.
Another great trend this 2010 F/W season is studded shoes. Like Louboutin and other designers, studs will instantly update any pair of flats. These tiny little details can make any outfit standout. What’s great about this collection is that it is very affordable. Both pair of boots go for $34.99 and the flats go for $29.99.
I particulary like the studded oxfords and the combat boots. They are definitely on my fall wish list.

Continuing in the Balmain tradition of impeccable fits with little dashes of creativity and the new applied to classic items, collection highlights include drop-crotch military pants, one beautiful peacoat, and the same killer combat boots in each look. Time to start saving in that piggy bank. Looks post-jump.

I’ve noticed recently that lots of people are looking back to 1994 for style inspiration. Some may say that girls like Cory Kennedy and MK Olsen look homeless but the combat boots, the plaid, and the floral dresses all scream GRUNGE! The difference between grunge style of today is it’s high fashion. Look at Alexander Wang’s collection (see below), torn tights with a $1,000 dress-now that’s Nu-Grunge Chic! So put on your acoustic Nirvania CD and let’s go on a tour of Grunge then and now.
