Everyday from 5 to 7 you can pair your organic wine with $1 oysters...and if that isn't grounds for bliss, I don't know what is.

Organika 89 Seventh Ave South This Italian fusion restaurant located in the West Village specializes in using organic and locally-grown produce both in their food and their wine. They also have a number of reasonably-priced cocktails including $11-$12 martinis and a $9 margarita. And while a martini with carrot juice doesn't sound très appealing, booze is booze, amirite?

Café Blossom 41 Carmine St The recently opened Café Blossom, part of the Blossom family of culinary delights, utilizes certified organic and locally-sourced liquor, beer and mixers -- such as Tru Vodka and Gin and Maker's Mark -- in drinks like the Tipsy Tree Hugger and Kentucky Orchard, respectively. Going green never felt so great...or so drunk.

While it’s not explicitly or all that implicitly stated, Courtney Love had some sort of kooky diatribe about her daughter whose 18th birthday is less than a week away, revealing details of a life that must be hard enough without a father but harder still with a sudden fashionista mom who’s pretty well known for showing her cooter:

“…A 17 year-old getting $40,000 a month is outrageous to me…She lives with her nanny, and Grandma Wendy and Kim Kurt Cobain’s mother and sister live two doors down, but there’s no drug testing going on…It’s enough money to kill her, if she is doing drugs, enough money to be gone by the time she’s 22.”

Love’s gott know, based on experience, but still, really? Hopefully the quote is out of context because otherwise it’s more than a little kooky. Let the girl enjoy her birthday in peace. Bring out the dirt for Thanksgiving or Christmas like other families.

After an all-star punk festival fell apart, the bands involved found themselves with some spare scratch and a landscape ripe for shootouts and standoffs.  The plot revolves around three hitmen/bank robbers who happen upon a small town populated by wild and wacky weirdos who they have to commingle with while they wait for the heat to die down.  Things, of course, go awry.  Honestly the plot is secondary though to the rollicking nature of the film, the setpieces, and total absurdity.

The film’s cast reads like a who’s who of the era’s punk and new wave scene.  There’s Joe Strummer, The Pogues, The Circle Jerks, Grace Jones, Elvis Costello, and even soon-to-be indie film god Jim Jarmusch.  And as an extra added bonus they’re all playing dress up.  Oh and Courtney Love‘s there too.

And she’s dressed well, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise if you follow her new Tumblr.  Pink dress with white polka dots not unlike this offering from Leifsdottir.  She might want to close those legs though.  But the matching watermelon‘s a nice touch.

Concerning the guys, check out Dick Rude‘s pants.  They’re very reminiscent of pairs shown off by Vivienne Westwood on a regular basis, which only seems fitting considering her place as the godmother of punk fashion.  Joe Strummer’s got on a ho-hum slim black suit but such a suit is almost always a recipe for looking good.

The gorgeous Jennifer Balgobin is, throughout the movie, basically a walking ad for American Apparel.  Look at the top picture for an example.  Spandex top?  Check.  High waisted bottoms?  Check.  That’s not to say she doesn’t class it up a little, though.  A simple, strapless blue dress which looks perfect for the weather…and also strikingly like this Jason Wu.

It’s almost frightening how much the women’s wardrobe in this movie matches up with pieces you’d find in today’s boutiques trending towards the younger gal.  Despite the film’s being over two decades old, the dress pictured above is here, here, and here.  And the boyfriend shirt?  Too many links to think about.

Similarly, this little white number on Michele Winstanley (I think) who, throughout the film, makes you wonder if Karen O got her whole schtick from this one character.  But back to the dress.  Ta-da!  And while the mariachi dressed men behind her probably aren’t exactly in style, they still look pretty awesome.

But before you think there’s only things for the ladies, say hello to Jeeves/Whitey and his killer pink summer suit.  Once again, very similar to something Westwood-ian, it also brings to mind pieces from Junya Watanabe and Filippa K.

The best ensemble in the entire movie, though, is definitely what Jim Jarmusch has got on.  It’s as if the director of such weirdo movies as Mystery Train, Dead Man, and Night On Earth decided to go as Karl Lagerfeld for Halloween.  And it is awesome.

Be warned: Straight to Hell is by no means a cinematic masterpiece, nor will it be in most people’s eyes ‘competent filmmaking’, what with a 5.5 rating on IMDB.  But if you go in with the right attitude, it’s as fun as Robocop and as splendorous as any period piece without being dry and/or expected.  Do yourself a favor and watch it.  (HINT: It’s on YouTube for free).

Sometimes we hate her for being such a trainwreck, but then we love her for giving us Hole and spreads like this.  All I have to say that I really like this black & white fashion shoot with Ms.Love, she doesn’t look like a hot mess and that’s RARE. With a new album out, Courtney Love is resurfacing again to inspire a whole new generation of neo grunge princesses. We can’t deny Courtney has defined a look for herself that fuses vintage beauty queen with rock and roll grime. From her days with Hole, back in the 90′s wearing baby doll dresses and Mary Jane shoes, how could we not predict she would become a style rock and roll icon?

Now as she matures in her own way, Courtney reinvents her style time and time again and like Courtney herself, it never gets old. Last night on David Letterman, she wore a silky, cream colored top with a flat, black pencil skirt looking very interview appropriate, but as she took to the stage, she donned a gothic dress dripping with black lace.

Yes we might have seen her during personal hard times defining the word hot mess, but Courtney knows her stuff. She collects dresses dating all the way back to 1929 with the help of her vintage dealer Timeless Vixen. Love also shops Boudoir Queen, a gorgeous boutique of vintage inspired dresses and adornments. Courtney’s closet must be a gold mine of beautiful vintage frocks, we can only imagine.

Who are your 3 worst dressed celebrities?

JESSICA: It really varies. Sometimes even people who look terrible most of the time can pull it together, and vice versa. I’d say poor Britney Spears is reliably disastrous.

HEATHER: For me, right now, Taylor Momsen and Leighton Meester are knocking it out of the park when it comes to making my head spin.

Who is the best dressed celebrity?

JESSICA: I am loathe to pick a best-dressed — EVERYONE looks crazy on occasion. I would say that there are some celebs who are consistently interesting though, good or bad. I always look forward to seeing Diane Kruger and Zoe Saldana.

HEATHER: Among more casual celebs, I like seeing what Rachel Bilson pulls out — sometimes it’s gold lame shorts and matching blazers, but often, it’s really cute-with-an-edge cocktail dresses.

Which is the hottest diva mess? Kate Moss, Courtney Love, Naomi Campbell

JESSICA: Courtney, hands down. Although even if I thought it was Naomi, I’d never say so. Never enrage a rageaholic. But Courtney takes it easily.

HEATHER: Yeah, Naomi is a diva mess in a whole different way than Kate and Courtney. I think Courtney wins it on a technicality, since it’s hard to be as much of a disaster as she is, but I’ll say this about Kate Moss: She definitely acts like she thinks anything she puts on her body is instant genius, and I think she’s wrong about that 99 percent of the time. So as far as people who think they’re fashion icons go, or people the fashionistas want me to believe are icons, Kate’s diva mess is industry-leading.

Fuck Marry or Kill and why: Taylor Momsen, Kesha, Chloé Sevigny

JESSICA: That’s a tough one! I’d marry Chloe…and flip a coin for the other two.

HEATHER: I would marry Taylor Momsen, because her age makes one option illegal and the other option (while also illegal) kind of more tragic, because she can’t die before she has a chance to pull it together. So I’ll kill Kesha, I guess, because the world needs Chloe Sevigny’s crazy clothes and awesome, awesome acting. Sorry Kesha. It’s nothing personal. Maybe I can kill her… WITH KINDNESS. Except no.

Why do you love bashing?

JESSICA: Well, I don’t really think of it as bashing as much as I like to think of it as being hopefully humorous constructive criticism! Maybe that’s just spin! But I think it’s important for there to be places where people pierce the PR bubble that surrounds a lot of celebrities: I can think someone like Leighton Meester is fantastic on Gossip Girl, and still dislike her pants. And I think everyone likes to critique celebrity outfits — for the good or the bad. Who hasn’t sat on the sofa, watching the Oscars and thought to herself, “Whoa, that person has all the resources in the world and they STILL look terrible? How is that possible?”

HEATHER: I don’t think of it as bashing, either. I think of it as humor writing, and for me, that’s the key because I just love to write, period. And if I get to write about something that’s fun to talk about, even better. For me we’re not really a fashion blog so much as we are the online experience of goofing off with your girlfriends on a Saturday, watching cheesy movies and flipping through whatever magazines are on the coffee table. We used to get occasionally about how cruel we are (thought not in years, thank God), and I have to say, I really don’t believe that if you read our site you will come away thinking we are being cruel. There’s a real undercurrent of affection for these wackadoo celebrities and their terrible clothing choices, and that’s genuine. We love what we do, and we love them for giving us the fuel to do it.

Have you ever received hate mail or death threats?

JESSICA: Death threats over a celebrity fashion blog would be so extreme! YEARS ago someone said she’d smash our skulls if we ever said another mean thing about…it might have been Mary J Blige? I can’t remember. You’d think she would have known that Mary J had no room for any hateration in our dancerie. We get hate mail every now and then, but we’ve been doing this since 2004. By this point, most of the people who think we’re assholes have already written in.

HEATHER: It was Lil’ Kim! She was in prison at the time, too. As for hate mail, we have a feature where Intern George answers our mail, and those are all real letters. People don’t believe that even though it says so at the top of every post, but it’s true — none of those are made up. But it’s definitely tapered off.

Would you want your own reality tv show?

JESSICA:  I used to work in reality TV and I can think of nothing more horrifying than being the focus of one. Besides, a reality TV show about us would be PARALYZINGLY DULL. It would just be typing.

HEATHER: Yeah, I cannot imagine that being a good idea for me OR for the viewing public. Yikes. I have a hard enough time looking at photos of myself.

Which publication would you want to contribute to?

JESSICA: We’ve been so lucky to contribute to a lot of great publications in our career. I think if I had to pick one, I’d say the New Yorker. My parents would be so thrilled! (Plus, it would be so classy to mention at cocktail parties.)

HEATHER: The New Yorker is a good one. But a huge part of me would love, love, love to write for Sports Illustrated.

If you were to style an editorial shoot, paint us a pic of who you’d use, the clothes you’d pick, and anything else relevant:

JESSICA: You know, that’s not really my area of expertise. We don’t even feature editorial shoots on GFY. They’re so fantastical that they don’t really play into what we talk about — which is basically what celebrities are trying to tell us about themselves based on what they wear out and about. I’m perfectly happy looking at editorial shoots in my magazines and not worrying about all the creative work that goes into creating them. I would not even know where to start!

HEATHER: Nor would I — that’s pretty far out of my purview. Actually, never mind: I’d kind of love to give Gabby Sidibe in some of the best of Alexander McQueen. She is so fabulous, and I feel like during the run-up to awards season she didn’t get access to as many imaginative outfits as she deserved. She’d have SO MUCH FUN romping around in his confections. Making that happen would rule.

Courtney Love looks great on the cover of the 25th anniversary issue of SPIN magazine, she talks about her new record  Nobody’s Daughter: “it can’t fail because I love it, and I’ve worked really hard to make sure that I love it.”

Courtney Love, who is rather candid about her feelings in the press, called out Lily Allen this past week, after the English songbird didn’t allow Love to don a Chanel dress (for free) to the BRIT Awards.

Allen has an exclusive deal with the fashion house, and chose to enjoy her status by being the only lady dressed in Chanel.  However, Love had this to say on Absolute Radio, “I wanted a Chanel couture dress but Lily Allen blocked them out. And that’s lame, because I remember J-Lo had a lock out on Valentino one year but she shared with me.”

I guess Courtney will just have to start paying for her red-carpet apparel from now on.

Courtney Love just got new tattoos. She kind of looks like she’s suffering from flower pox. I don’t know if that’s a real disease, but if it was, I’d assume you’d look like a lot like this.

Last night, Love was wearing a slinky black dress on her hanger-like frame. We noticed that there was still a tag on it, and she politely asked us to rip it off, before hesitating: “Oh, no — what if I want to return it? No, no, I can’t. That’d be bad.” We hand her the evidence of the $7,800 dress she bought at Bergdorf Goodman today, and she laughs.

Courtney Love gave an exclusive performance to a bunch of Alexander Wang groupies at Gas Station (the gas station under the highline at 14th). It was amazing.

Walking home in the pouring rain, sans an umbrella, resulted in quite a few things: sopping stilettos, disgustingly uncomfortable leather and smeared makeup. Though I spent quite some time ironing, blow drying and wiping my rained upon items, I didn’t dare touch my smeared makeup before going out for the night. Though the editorial images posted are definitely exaggerated, I really dig the look of smeared eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow and lipstick. I recommend choosing one area of the face to smear to avoid looking like Courtney Love, your safest bet being the eyes (smear subtly enough and it will look like a slightly coked out smokey eye!) If your looking for a more dramatic smeared look, spray/splash water on regular (not waterproof) eye-makeup and allow to drip and dry down your face. Make sure you re-line and apply mascara to your eyes for a bolder look. The best part about this trend? Humidity only makes it better!

While it’s pretty awesome that DJ Atrak is playing cover star on the latest issue of Status Magazine, what intrigues me more is the “Indie-prenurial” coverage of Nylon editor Marvin Scott Jarett. While I’m not the biggest fan of the editor, I’m curious to see if he has any answers for why he featured Lindsay “Unhirable” Lohan on the cover of their 10 year anniversary issue.

Seriously dude. She’s about as intersting as chronic foot pain caused by gout. I would have been more inclined to pick that shit up if Courtney Love (aka Older Lindsay) was on the cover. At least she’s far to drugged up to monitor her comments and the interview would have been interesting. I tried reading that issue during a bowel movement and for the first time ever I felt the need to cut and run.

Anyways, if anyone can send me a copy of this magazine, I’m hoping the “indie” editor can redeem himself.

Step number one in raising a mature and sophisticated daughter is to disallow her from idolizing the ex-rock musician Courtney Love. If you couldn’t already tell by looking at the images above, Courtney Love basically defines “bad role model.” Not only will she teach your precious little Susie that it’s okay to take her top off on national television, dye her hair disgusting vomit-esque colors, appear drunk and unstable at the VMAs and have sexual relations with herpes infected men, she will also make Susie think anorexia is the cool thing to do with her upcoming shot in Elle UK January 2009. Oh, and to put the cherry on top of her little drugged up life, it seems as if Courtney Love prides herself on “[setting] the stage for Britney Spears.” Is that really what you want people to think…that you inspired Britney Spears to shave her head, load on the weight and completely fail as a responsible mother? As Love says in the next issue of Elle UK:

“I had a long, hard fall. I set the stage for Britney to crash and burn. I went through it all first.”

That’s basically like saying Love made “the shit show” look cool. Negative. Love made the shit show even shittier.
