Sir, your sole is looking rather bleak. Though you may like your coffee as black as your soul, there’s no reason your sole should suffer the same fate. Give it a kick up with a color that will stand out at the bottom-most point of your suit. You may notice that people around you who normally walk with their face to the ground will look up in awe at the sight of a soul with enough gusto to slap a brilliant hue on the sidewalk. Plus, if a required three-piece gets you down in the springtime, this is a sure-footed way to bring character to it. Brands like Walk-Over and Mark McNairy do it well – see some others here.

Creative Recreation got out to a promising start with me, but now they just annoy me. When they first started generating buzz I was really into them, and they were a great “indie” version of Nike almost. However, after years of production and season after season of way too many pieces, I have grown tired of them. They are just too tacky, and the fact that I see more and more ghetto kids wearing them doesn’t help either. Each season they come out with what seems like 100 new sneakers, in some of the dumbest color and pattern combinations I have ever seen. I will say every once in a while I see a pair that I think is pretty cool, but that’s after I see a couple hundred ugly pairs. I think they need to cut back on production, and focus on making less models that are higher quality. You had a good run Creative Recreation, but now if you would please fade into the background or move all your sales to Harlem that would be great.
