American Boardwalk Style: The Once Glamorous East Coast Scene

Edited by

The American boardwalk has become a place for fried food, fake boobs and leathery complexions, but this iconic beach scene hasn’t always been so seedy. Once upon a time, stylish vacationers and locals alike filled the seats in soda shops and on Ferris wheels, parasols and lace gloves in tow. East Coast boardwalks – being so close to NYC, center of the universe – were visions of elegance and abundance, even in spite of the freak shows, speakeasies and casinos. If you’re wondering how you can channel classic American East Coast boardwalk style this summer, check out our guide for all the must-haves.

Summer Layering

Edited by

Now that it’s basically summer — the proliferation of mandals, screaming children on the subway, my overworked sweat glands and the eggs frying on the sidewalk attest to that, though I’m truly not complaining — you may be lamenting the loss of layering –  after all, with 98° weather, the fewer the clothes the better. But the tank and booty short routine can get real old real fast. So before you lock those cardigans away in storage forever i.e. the next three months, consider these few tips on layering for summer.

FashionIndie Packs for Bonnaroo

Edited by

WEEE!! FashionIndie is going to Bonnaroo! And this is the giant bag of tricks that’s coming with. (Plus the Wellies that I plan on purchasing in case of rain. Plus the glow sticks I will acquire in due time). While at Bonnaroo, we’ll be chatting the musicians up about their personal style, and how fashion makes their musical journey all the more interesting. But first, let me show you what I’ll be wearing, keeping in mind the state of mind of those around me, so I can make everyone’s trip, to Bonnaroo, as visually stimulating as possible.

Late May Look of the Day

Edited by

We’re getting just beyond transition time – it’s May 20th and almost the End Of The World. We’re getting restless and reckless and damn close to busting out our summer clothes and just throwing a jacket on top. Well, you know what? Go for it. If we’ve only got one day left, hell, even if we don’t, bring on your new warm weather purchases. A few extra layers (and some neutral colors) will make it work right now.

How to Transform Fall Trends into Spring

Edited by

Extending your clothing from Spring to Fall is relatively simple – they become your bottom-most layers as you build above them for the cold. But what about Fall into Spring? Those pieces are thick and warm, often too much so for the weather. It’s tricky, but I’ve plucked out some pieces you might have scooped up this fall, and I’ll show you how to work them into your wardrobe this spring.

Office to Nightclub in 5 Minutes Flat

Edited by

The trick to most things in life involves layering. It allows you to transform your look from day to night, leaving you in almost an entirely different outfit. These two outfits side by side are the same look. Minus the blazer of course. I’ll explain what’s underneath, and why it’s okay to hide your swank from your co-workers under an oversized sport jacket.
