The Spring 2009 cover of tar magazine features the above graphic of Kate Moss. Created by Damien Hirst, the image exposes half of Kate’s face – instead of distorting a model’s face by airbrushing a photograph, Hirst peeks into the true, and not always pretty, side of human anatomy.

The biannual arts magazine (co-founded by BlackBook founder Evanly Schindler and Maurizio Marchiori of Diesel) releases its second issue April 15

Here’s a preview of Damien Hirst’s newest denim line for Levis.  The 12 piece collection will include jeans for $230 and t-shirts for $83.

Three limited edition jeans paint blasted by senior petrified shark himself will cost $23,040.

You can make the jeans yourself by wearing a pair of $50 Levi’s out for a day of paintballing.

Kate Moss is Officially Cast in Gold

Kate Moss is not cast in gold in a provocative yoga pose for the work of Marc Quinn. The 2006 piece titled  Siren, will be unveiled today at the British museum.

As only befits one of the world’s greatest supermodels, Siren’s stats are impressive. It weighs in at 50 kilograms, is worth £1.5 million and is said to be the largest gold statue to be made in the world since the time of Ancient Egypt.

“I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who’s the ideal beauty of the moment,” Quinn says of his supermodel subject.

Moss’ latest rendering joins works by the likes Damien Hirst and Anthony Gormley as part of the British Museum’s Statuephilia exhibition, which runs from October 4 to January 25.

Design Collaborations: Damien Hirst and Vertu

Not everyone can own a diamond encrusted skull, but everyone wants a piece of Damien Hirst’s aesthetic. The star artist is rumored to be collaborating on a project with Vertu, purveyor of wildly expensive luxe handcrafted mobile phones with jeweled buttons and other uber-pricey details. Vertu also recently collaborated with Tag Heuer. The brand celebrated their 10th anniversary this year, introducing The Monogram Constellation collection made from fine grain leather. The brand already has a signature diamond collection, which Hirst surely appreciates.  If this project comes to fruition, we’re betting that scores of billionaires from here to Moscow will storm the waiting lists.
