RED CARPET REPORT CARD: The Good, the Bad & the Gaga at the CFDA Awards

The CFDA Awards red carpet fell somewhere in between Grammy gauche and Oscar opulence. I thought there would be more formal, black-tie, floor-grazing-gown business à la the Met Ball, but some people showed up in jeans while there was enough leg on display to put KFC out of business. But the fashion grab bag of last night’s red carpet provided a few hits, a ton of misses and then of course there was the Gaga factor.

Guinness Wants to Bring Blow to the Masses

Socialite, heiress, fashion icon and occasional window dresser Daphne Guinness spoke about dear departed friend, editor Isabella Blow during an exclusive tour of the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit at the Met last week. Having bought Blow’s wardrobe to prevent its auction, Guinness now wants to  display them, perhaps via a virtual museum.

Featuring 8 T-shirt styles for $29.99 designed and merchandised with the help of the Sisters Tanner, the site will combine e-commerce with social media. MK told WWD: “With Stylemint.com, Ashley and I have created an online experience reflecting our love of style and allowing us to engage with our customers directly, which is an inspiring new way for us to think and create as designers.” I remember just yesterday they were wearing clam diggers and 90s Cameron Diaz hair.
