-  Apparently some ladies  riding the crimson wave have begun to hang ten on a crime wave at Duane Reades around town with a rash of tampon thefts, prompting the NYPD to pull off a sting operation. Because that’s what happens in New York. [Racked]

It’s been said a million times: I hate him. I never want to see him again. If he got hit by a car, I wouldn’t blink twice. But the truth is, there are those bits of relationship history that, when seen, trigger a memory and send you bat-shit crazy, drowning in tears. But instead of burning his high-school letterman jacket or tossing that diamond necklace he got you for Valentine’s day, why not exploit those good old days and put your memories on display at The Museum of Broken Relationships? 

Originally aimed to help the heartbroken “overcome the emotional collapse through creation – by contributing to the Museum’s collection,” the Croatian museum tours internationally, exhibiting everything from love letters to articles of clothing and teddy bears to bath products. Ingenious, no? I wonder if the story behind the memory is included?

Now let’s not get off on the wrong foot. I love sunglasses, nothing better than picking out the perfect pair of shades to complete an outfit that’s going to tear up the streets; however, the amount of designers manufacturing sunglasses nowadays has been getting absolutely insane. I mean come on, I don’t even know if there is enough room for all of them! The shades keep piling in, stores are stocking up, and designers simply can’t get enough of their unstoppable “creativity”. I understand that if you see someone else with bills flying through their fingertips you’re going to want a piece of that success, but let’s think of some alternate ways keep the cash flowing in. Designers need to stop producing eyewear just for the hell of it.

Thakoon and Jeremy Scott? Really? Everyone please stop allowing them to think this is okay! We’re going to get to a point where designing sunglasses is a leisure activity. Their loosing their edge, their unpredictability and ultimately, the desire they use to attract their consumers. The amount of shades are making them too accessible and completely boring. Sorry to report the newsflash designers, but not everyone’s got the skill to craft shades; please, leave it to the professionals.

Sun glasses are one of the most profitable accessories for a design house, considering that it takes pennies to make them, and they sell for hundreds. More and more designers are catching on to this, with David Yurman being the latest. With his jewelry lines being so distinctively him, the shades have the same concept, with stones in various shapes on the sides.

The indie designers should be catching on soon, I’d like to see some shades from the Love Brigaders surface…
