TRENDSPARK: Timeless Androgyny

TRENDSPARK: Timeless Androgyny magazinesIt wasn’t until I was saw Mikael Jansson’s spread for Vogue Paris September 2009 that I realized what my favorite fall trend is: timeless androgyny. Inspired by Diane Keaton’s role as Annie Hall, Jansson’s spread features model Anna Jagodzinska dressed in an array of androgynous 70’s menswear. While the androgyny trend is a few seasons running, I love the simple, professional and somewhat preppy feel of this trendy throwback. But remember ladies, keep the hair and makeup feminine and simple to avoid the butch/costume/tranny look!

Vogue Paris’ penchant for dressing up in their September issue is causing me to fall absolutely in love. Anna Jagodzinska pays tribute to Diane Keaton in her Annie Hall days, with a sleek but still casual menswear look. Who will you be playing dress-up as this fall?

Moments of Style: Diane Keaton all indie

I’m not one to become star-struck when I see celebrities or models roaming the New York City streets. But one exception hit me like the M79 as I was waiting for a friend at Astor Place. Diane Keaton, in all her glory, walked right past me looking absolutely stunning. She looks just as young and fresh as Annie Hall in this head to toe black ensemble. I hope I look as great as she does upon reaching that age.

Thanks to Jezebel for the photo.

Oh, Diane, I love you no matter what. But when you wandered around Hollywood on Tuesday in a splattered bubble skirt, weird-length leggings, turtleneck, and safari hat, I just couldn’t take it. I know you can’t dress like Annie Hall every day, but…

I think some celebrities who use stylists on a daily basis can come off looking too contrived or too put-together. But mayhaps you should look into it. At least you make everyone else feel better about how their moms dress.

No, no we don't.

No, no we don't.

Why is she hailing Hitler?

Why is she hailing Hitler?

Actually, each pant suit has been mistakingly monochromatic. Hillary Clinton’s collosal of colorful suits are attention craving, unpleasant, loud and obnoxious. Mmm… maybe they are a better match for Clinton after all. I hate to admit it, but these popsickle solid colored suits have become her signature.

Last night was no exception as Clinton pranced onto the DNC stage in an burnt orange pant suit. Eek. I love Diane Keaton’s Annie Hall masculine look but Clinton has to turned androynous chic into andreadful chic.  How did she plan to be president, if she can’t even dress herself? Little steps, Hil. Clinton looks as though she should be running a county fair, not the country.
