RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Annhagen Fall 2009 Collection

The Fall 2009 collection by Annhagen seems to be a conglomerate of certain looks from other designers that we have all seen before. This collection has a hint of all the big names like Rick Owens, Gareth Pugh, Dior Homme and just the slightest touch of J. Lindeberg. The collection is put together well, but I must say the originality isn’t all there.

Is Gareth Pugh Dior Homme Bound?

Gareth Pugh.
Grazia is hearing Gareth Pugh will replace Kris Van Assche as head designer of Dior Homme. LVMH hasn’t confirmed the report, but an announcement is expected any day, according to chatter at London Fashion Week. Speculation that Pugh might take the reins from Van Assche reached a fever pitch when LVMH chief Bernard Arnault’s daughter Delphine Arnault sat front-row at his very first menswear show at Paris Men’s Fashion week and called the collection “beautiful” and “amazing.” Critics, too, called it flawless. This is exciting news in the world of menswear. Van Assche never quite lived up to Hedi Slimane, who left Dior Homme almost two years ago. If anyone can reinvigorate a label, it’s Pugh, and we can’t wait to see more from him.
I am really curious to see if this new appointment develops. I completely agree that Dior Homme has not been spectacular since Slimane left. I really hope the designer who takes the reigns knows what’s up.

Dior Homme Makes A Push For Pugh?

RUMOR ALERT! RUMOR ALERT! AND I AIN’T TALKING ABOUT THAT UGLY CHIN WITH THE LAST NAME WILLIS EITHER! There are rumors swirling that Kris Van Assche is getting the boot from Dior Homme after his consistently poor performance over the course of the past couple seasons. Who is he rumored to be replaced by? Well if you’re that slow and haven’t realized that all the buzz is pointing to the Men’s “IT” designer of the year Gareth Pugh, then just stop reading this now and head towards the kitchen for a knife and begin cutting slowly.
Since the hype around Pugh is swirling without any signs of dissipation, Dior Homme is apparently bringing him in for some consulting work, thus resulting in the departure of Van Assche. Word has it that the rumors began when the daughter of LVMH owner Bernard Arnault was spotted front row at the Pugh show.
It was also said that Pugh’s show this season was his “audition” for the job. If this is the case Van Assche has the same chance of keeping his job as Amy Winehouse does at getting sober.
Could this be the resurrection of Dior Homme? Let’s hope so!

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Kris Van Assche Fall 2009

Kris Van Assche went from zero to hero all in a very short period of time, and his own collection was the tipping point for me. The collection is completely different from what he has been offering with Dior Homme, and I love it. I feel like working under a label name like Dior ha limited what he is able to design. The collection he produced was trendy, stylish and the textures were amazing. Kris Van Assche, consider me your new biggest fan (sort of).

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Dior Homme Fall 2009 Collection

Kris Van Assche has always gotten skeptical reviews from me in the past when concerning his work with Dior Homme, but I think he may have gained a few points back with this collection. Paris Fashion Week was the host for the latest from the French luxury brand, and the newest collection featured all black pieces with a few white accents. The pinstriped pieces looked great, and the necklines and unique collars were the real highlight for me. Solid collection.

ADDICT: Dior Homme S/S 09 Ad Campaign

Dior Homme is my favorite menswear brand out there. If I was a dude, it’s all I would wear. So it’s always exciting to see the new collection and ad campaign because they are always fabulous. The S/S ads are no different. The model is perfect for the clothing- sexy and sophisticated with a bad-ass edge.

FASHION PORN: Fashion. Photography. Porn Stars. The Perfect Combination!

For one reason or another, when I hear hear talk about “male porn stars,” I immediately think about the creepy, Super Mario-esque, Ron Jeremy. To be honest, when I heard that Dior Homme designer Kris Van Assche hired photographer Jeff Burton to shoot male porn stars for his personal collection’s campaign, I expected to see some flabby, Italian Stallion sprawled out with…well, it doesn’t matter.
Needless to say, I was relieved to see the hunks, rather than the chunks, appear in the campaign. Burton, who “reinterprets pornography for consumption in a contemporary, seductive way,” did just that. The campaign, shot in an LA laundromat, was interesting and tasteful. At least we know Assche is selling clothes and not dirty movies!

If You’re Dumb Enough To Date Kirsten Dunst, Then Turning Down A Major Campaign Comes As No Surprise

Former boyfriend of Celebrity gross face Kirsten Dunst, Johnny Borrell (front man for Razorlight) turned down Dior Homme’s offer to be the face of the new collection. His main reason for doing so was that he thought the campaign “wouldn’t fit his image”. What exactly is his image? D-list celebrity who sings in a crappy band, and used to date the girl who got railed by Spiderman?

Hedi Slimane: Quite the Renaissance Man

Is there anything that Hedi Slimane doesn’t do? With experience in fashion design, furniture design, fragrance, store design and photography, Slimane is really a Jack of all trades. But don’t think that because he has several irons in the fire means the quality of his talent slumps in certain areas.
The fashion design might be on the back-burner but Slimane’s photography is becoming quite lucrative. Slimane recently signed with Art + Commerce, an agency that represents photographers, stylists, hairstylists, and makeup artists. After he cut the ties with Dior Homme, Slimade shot spreads for various magazines like French Vogue, Vman and Purple. Hedi Slimane’s photography is rather impressive, but what else would you expect? It definitely takes one so involved in the fashion industry to know how to photograph a successful editorial.
But if you miss the couture designs of our favorite Renaissance man, sleep tight knowing that Slimane hinted he is returning to the world of fashion design! This time, however, Slimane will be his own boss, as he is discussing plans to start his own label. What’s next!?

R.I.P: Randy Johnston

October 11th was a tragic day for Ford Models and the family and friends of Randy Johnston. The 20 year old model passed away on Saturday of unknown causes. The half German, half English model was discovered by Ford Models through a mailed in photograph. Johnston was the featured model of the 2007 Dior Homme campaign and will appear in November’s i-D Magazine with Lara Stone. Ford Models had this to say about their recent loss:
“Randy Johnston, a beautiful, sweet, and loving young man. There are no words to express how much he will be missed.”

Ad-Dict: Dior Homme

If I were a man, Dior Homme would fill 75 percent of my closet. I love the fall ‘08 ad campaign: simple, classic and really makes me want to drop huge sums of cash money for the clothes.

AD-dict: F/W Dior Homme Ads

Check out these GOR-geous photos from the Fall/Winter Dior Homme ads. Dior picked none other than Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld to photograph the ads. Yes on top of designing his own line, Fendi, and Chanel, he also moonlights as a photographer. This man does everything and he does it all well!
Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2009

The Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2009 line is nothing short of perfection in my eyes. This line covers all the basics needs when designing a wearble runway line. This Dior Homme line is wearable and stylish, yet has those few stand out pieces that really make the line worth remembering. The color scheme is really what caught my eye when I first saw the line. The vibrant accent pieces and accessories, paired with simply elegant staple pieces make this line look great. I think this line just goes to prove that metallics and gold are both here to stay, where as the revival of pink and black could be in order. I personally hope that pink and black doesn’t come back, it’s so Hot Topic.
P.s how do we feel about the Jeremy Scott-esque glasses?
Thanks again to Selectism for the pictures!
