The Twitterverse is abuzz over National Cleavage Day, which it turns out, is actually a thing. A thing sponsored by Wonderbra. The boob-supporter conducted a survey of a thousand women to find out who had the best cleavage with the winner having the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Wonderbra Cleavage Hall of Fame — also a thing. So who did women choose as the rack of ages?

Probably someone you’ve never heard of, if you live stateside. Holly Willoughby, the host of British daytime show, This Morning, beat out the boobylicious likes of Beyoncé, Scarlett Johansson and Marilyn Monroe for the crown of Best Celebrity Cleavage. In a sleek store that feels like Calvin Klein went to a festival (think stark white with a glow stick explosion), sits a display of plastic. Plastic molded into shoes. Shoes by some of our favorite designers of all time. Gareth Pugh, Jason Wu and Vivienne Westwood are some of the latest designers to team up with Melissa to create a line of shoes that embody their aesthetic at a price point we mere mortals can afford. Melissa has been jellying shoes in Brazil since 1979, and just opened their first U.S. store in SoHo three weeks ago. We took a look around at the baller collabs and the trippy vibes that reverberate within the shop.

The downstairs floor imagery is constantly moving. As is the back wall. It's fluid, kind of like the capabilities of plastic. Oh, and they're also 100% recyclable, in case you were wondering. Read on to see the collaborations up close.

You can get Gareth Pugh on your tootsies for $105! It's really got his DNA in every aspect of the shoe. He told their in-store magazine Plastic, "I don't collaborate a great deal with other brands, so whatever I do with this needs to be done in a way that I am 100% happy with the product before it goes out." On the chosen print: "The print of the sandal is very characteristic of my work. It emerged from a drawing that I did as soon as I left college and since then it changes a little bit every season. It is a historical print in my career."

Jason Wu set out to make something very characteristically him, and also Melissa at the same time. "It's a pleasure for me to work with plastic in such an innovative way. It is a very modern material present in our daily lives and the possibility of making it more fashionable is very interesting."

Marc Jacobs Goin’ Down to South Park, Gonna Make Himself a Tee

Marc Jacobs returns to South Park, but this time not as “Muscle Man Marc.” The designer has collaborated with Trey Parker and Matt Stone to create three T-shirts featuring Eric Cartman, Butters Stotch and Randy Marsh to benefit The Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group at New York University. Stripped to their cartoon bones with only the charity’s slogan – ”Protect Your Largest Organ” — providing any coverage, it’s clear to see why Cartman is always so…tee’d off.

The South Parkers are the latest pop culture icons to grace the tees,which in the past have featured Naomi Campbell, Dita von Teese and Victoria Beckham.

Getting Butters to bare all, however, proved more difficult than Jacobs and company president Robert Duffy anticipated. “They’re very, very cautious about collaborations,” Duffy said of Parker and Stone. “We’ve worked with so many artists in the past, and I’d say Trey and Matt are the most protective of their brand. They were so involved, to the point of wanting to know the texture of the T-shirt and how thick the paint is on the silk screen.”

And sadly Duffy’s dream of disrobing a particular character were inevitably dashed: “I really wanted to do Kenny, but they said there was absolutely no way they were going to let me use Kenny. I wanted to see what he looks like without his coat.”

The T-shirts retail for $35 and are available online and at Marc by Marc Jacobs stores. [WWD]

- The Wall Street Journal called in an expert to explain why Linda Evangelista‘s son needs $46,000 a month from his father, billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault-Hayek. Turns out young Augustin James is ballin’ out of control. [The Cut]

- A report that Jay-Z bought Billionaire Boys Club – Pharrell‘s clothing line — have been refuted by Jigga himself, who claims he’s only “partnering” with the Neptune. [GQ]

- Daphne Guinness insists that she’s not Dita von Teese, referencing her upcoming stunt dressing for the Met Ball in Barney’s store window on May 2nd. Gavin Rossdale: Lowe in the Hand, Dude in the Bush

Well, this is something I never thought I wanted to know. Not only was Bush’s frontman/Gwen Stefani‘s househusband, Gavin Rossdale in a purported 5-year relationship with Marilyn Manson, but model Daisy Lowe is his love child! Scandal!

I feel like the closet door that once held everything I thought about Gavin Rossdale has flown open revealing that I really…knew nothing at all.

Of course, Gavin claims it was only a one-time thing, something done in the carefree experimentation of youth. Marilyn says they dated for 5 years in the 80s.

But who are you gonna believe? The guy who sang “Glycerine,” or the guy who married Dita von Teese and wore fake plastic breasts and a gender-neutralizing cup?

Tough call, my friend, tough call.

In the back of my mind, I can see Gwen readying her army of Harajuku handmaidens who will sneak into Marilyn’s house late at night and replace all his clothes with “Hollaback Girl”-era Stefani couture.

STORY OF: Nail Polish

Painting ones nails might just be the oldest beauty trend. The Chinese have been making their nails beautiful since 3000 B.C. using a mix of arabic gum, eggs whites, gelatin and beeswax. Other ancient nail painting practices include stains from henna and massaging tinted powders into their nails. The painting of ones nails was so important to women that recipes for making your own nail varnish was included in 19th century cookbooks. Thankfully, nail polish technology and connivence has progressed.

Nail Solvent, or nail polish remover as it is now known as, was a big selling item in the first half of the 20th century. Something we now take for granted a good nail solvent was seen as a way to elevate the level of the nail polish you were selling.

The selling point of nail solvent can be seen in this ad for on the lower right side of this vintage advertisement which explains how Cutex remover is different then the others because it “contains a very special oil” that will not leave residue on the nails.

Moon manicures were popular with Hollywood starlets in the 20′s and 30′s, so it’s no surprise vintage glamour lover Dita Von Teese is bringing back this nail trend.

Mini-skirt inventor Mary Quant is less known for deciding that nail might not only match your lipstick, they could match your clothing too! Her mod aesthetic required red nails to be put on the back burner, allowing pastels nails to became all the rage.

Pastel nails lead to bright nails, and then darker nails which have been seen on the goth crowd for, well, ever. Male rock stars love this look to, seen above on Jared Leto. This love affair dates back to 60′s Lou Reed when he was fronting The Velvet Underground.

The 70′s saw the rise of the French Manicure, a term coined by Orly founder Jeff Pink and his manicure sets. This muted manicure is considered so timeless that it is often worn on important days such as ones wedding.

Minx nails are the newest big nail trend, as we wrote about last month. These metallic nail coverings have been seen on everyone from Lady Gaga to Blake Lively. Minx is basically nail stickers that are applied with heat and easy to remove.

With so many nail trends to choose from, and more popping up every day, decorating ones nails never ceases to be fun. No wonder it’s been such a long standing love affair.

Dita Von Teese, Katy Perry. Tokio Hotel, N.E.R.D, Estelle, Cyndi Lauper, Dangerous Muse,Robyn, Róisín Murphy, Yelle, Moby, Yoko Ono, and Katharine Hamnett are the celebrities joining H&M and Designers Against AIDS (DAA) for Fashion Against AIDS, to help fight the disease and raise youth awareness.

All of the celebs collaborated with H&M on designs for T-shirts, T-shirt dresses, vests and bodies. 25% of the sales price will be donated to youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects. The collection, in 100% organic cotton, for both guys and girls will go on sale in H&M’s youth DIVIDED department from May 28 2009.

I love how corsets look on the body. They tighten the waist, accentuate the bust and give a nice curve to the top of the hips. The modern-day corset is sexy, playful and elegant. But the fashion side of this garment wasn’t always so pleasant. Since I am a huge history of costume nerd, I thought I’d share what corsets really used to mean for stylish women.

In the early 1800s, corsets were seen as undergarments of support for women and girls as young as four. Women were considered extremely fragile and corsets were thought to keep them standing upright. Organs became so deformed by the time girls hit their teens that they could not sit or stand properly without the aid of a boned corset. This is where Hollywood got the idea that women fainted often; but it wasn’t because of frailty but rather the inability to draw deep breaths of air. The higher a woman was in society, the tighter her garments were. Servants and working women didn’t wear them every day because their constraint made it hard to do even the mildest labor. And a loose corset was usually the sign of a promiscuous woman.

So ladies, enjoy the modern-day corset with much reverence for women of fashion past. At least when you hear the phrase “pain is beauty” today, it doesn’t mean a torso full of smashed organs.

PS: Although, we did recently write about the McQueen model (above) who fainted on the runway due to her tight corset.
