Her royal hotness, Dita Von Teese has revealed that she’s signed a record deal with Interscope in Europe. Expect her album “Manson, Pasties and Milky Skin” to hit stores soon.
Sidenote: It totally looks like her vagerific hair crept out of her zipper fly and is planning an attack in this picture, eh?

Agyness Deyn as the new Twiggy

January Jones as the new Veronica Lake

Natalie Portman as the new Audrey Hepburn
Celebrities from back in the day are making quite the resurgence on the red carpet! Although they might not be carbon copy styles, current lime-lighters are certainly walking in the foot steps of silver screen alumni, leaving future celebrities with major style shoes to fill! I am absolutely loving Aggy’s edgy geometric play on Twiggy’s signature version of the page-boy coif! And Dita Von Teese couldn’t have modernized Elizabeth Taylor any better!

Anne Hathaway is the new Dita Von Teese in my eyes. She’s so classic, knows how to dress her body (love love the above dress, although I don’t know the designer), and always looks so effortlessly put together.

As usual, Dita refuses to dress down, even on the way to Pilates class. I’m loving the scarf tied into a giant bow, think I’m gonna steal the look. Also, gonna start doing Pilates so I can look this good!

Dita Von Teese looks amazing as always in the winter 2008/2009 issue of Citizen K. The burlesque beauty appears on the cover and in a fabulous spread shot by photographer Sol Sanchez. Her wardrobe consists of flowing frocks and accessories by Derek Lam, Prada and Fendi. My personal favorite reminds me of the spaghetti scene in Lady and the Tramp…only it’s made more appealing with a diamond bracelet.

I am suddenly craving some cotton candy? And people say you can’t wear pale pink if you have pale skin? Gorgeous, as usual!
Thanks Jezebel for providing the lovely photo

Dita Von Teese, Margaret Cho and Ethan Hawke want you to have safe sex. And they want you to do it while supporting YouthAIDS, an education and prevention initiative whose mission is to “use media, pop culture, music, theatre and sports to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and reach 600 million young people in more than 60 countries with life-saving messages, products, services and care.” These celebrities are just a few who are designing Lifestyles condom boxes to raise money in the Celebrity Pop Art Auction. All proceeds go to YouthAIDS. Visit Lifestyles.com/popart to place your bid through December 5.

Dita recently revealed she has vowed never to wear jeans, because she prefers “expressing” herself through 40s-style corsets and dresses.
“I’ve always felt that clothes are an important way of expressing how you want the world to see you. I don’t look down on people who wear jeans and T-shirts, but ever since I was a little girl, I picked out my own clothes.”
“I would never do this in normal life, that’s why I’ll do it at Halloween. It’s a bit funny and people think I’m not wearing a costume but I really am.”
“For Halloween, I’m going to look like a normal girl, put some bronzer on, some spray tan on and wear some jeans. People will ask me where my costume is!”

I love how corsets look on the body. They tighten the waist, accentuate the bust and give a nice curve to the top of the hips. The modern-day corset is sexy, playful and elegant. But the fashion side of this garment wasn’t always so pleasant. Since I am a huge history of costume nerd, I thought I’d share what corsets really used to mean for stylish women.
In the early 1800s, corsets were seen as undergarments of support for women and girls as young as four. Women were considered extremely fragile and corsets were thought to keep them standing upright. Organs became so deformed by the time girls hit their teens that they could not sit or stand properly without the aid of a boned corset. This is where Hollywood got the idea that women fainted often; but it wasn’t because of frailty but rather the inability to draw deep breaths of air. The higher a woman was in society, the tighter her garments were. Servants and working women didn’t wear them every day because their constraint made it hard to do even the mildest labor. And a loose corset was usually the sign of a promiscuous woman.
So ladies, enjoy the modern-day corset with much reverence for women of fashion past. At least when you hear the phrase “pain is beauty” today, it doesn’t mean a torso full of smashed organs.
PS: Although, we did recently write about the McQueen model (above) who fainted on the runway due to her tight corset.
