If you’ve been any type of scenester this year, you know the sounds of DJ Price.  A regular at NYC’s model/actress watering holes the Darby, SL, Avenue, and 1 OAK or LA’s Trousdale, the Beverly, and Greystone Manor, he keeps the girls dancing and the boys feeling hotter than they are.  Maybe it’s because the kid resonates that certain cool factor that comes with the good kind of native New Yorker: humble, unassuming, and knows how to hustle (not in the crack slinging way, but more like the ‘anything is possible so I’m doing it’ kind of way).  We chatted with Price about his new store, what it’s like to be a DJ-designer, and got some recommendations on the best new men’s gear.

What inspired you to become a DJ? 

I was heavily influenced by DJ AM at an early age. They way he would tell a story with his playlists inspired me to push the limits with what I can do with two records.

How do you think music + fashion go hand in hand?

Fashion and music are both influenced by each other. We listen to all types of music, from rock, to house, and hip hop. We try to make clothes for each type of customer. We want everyone to find something from the Reason line to wear.

What are 5 words that describe the Reason guy?

MATURE. SMART. STYLISH. PROFESSIONAL. SUCCESFUL.

A friend of the late DJ AM had the beautiful and talented Kat Von D create a lasting memorial. DJ Fashen got inked with a tribute tattoo of DJ AM who died last week. Her work is always so detailed and precise- what better way to remember a dear friend?

In DJ AM’s last Twitter post written Tuesday, he recalled a line from a Grandmaster Flash song: “New York, New York. Big city of dreams, but everything in New York ain’t always what it seems.”

Ravers expected to see Underworld, DJ AM, Steve Aoki, Crystal Castles, A-Trak, Chromeo, Crookers, and more (sounds like an amazing show!), but unfortunately couldn’t see anything.  The fest which should’ve went down as the dance party of the year, was shut down due to lack of security and increase of wanna-be ravers.  HARD reported themselves:

“We are terribly sorry. Inglewood PD made the decision to shut down the event tonight much to our astonishment and yours. There are many questions to answer; rest assured you will not be left hanging. Please check back soon.” Information regarding ticket refunds has not yet been released.

That sucks!  I’m not sure if I’m more disappointed that I didn’t know about this fest, or that I would have been if I was surrounded by so many fashion fails and not even allowed to see my favorite DJs.

Already past the mourning stage for their forgotten buddies lost on that fateful plane trip, Travis Barker and DJ AM will be preforming together this New Year’s Eve at New Year’s Nation’s Los Angeles New Year’s Eve Party at The Lot in West Hollywood, California.

The performance will be streamed live to other major cities.

Wow guys, you couldn’t give it a year. Possibly do a tribute concert or something for the homies you lost? Hollywood must be one heartless bitch…
