PPR and Parsons Partner on Internship Program

Two lucky so-and-so’s from the graduating class of the Parsons School of Design will get the internship of a lifetime thanks to a partnership with luxury conglomerate PPR and the website, The Fancy.

Current seniors in Parsons BFA Fashion Design program will compete to win internships at one of PPR’s 16 luxury brands, which include Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta, Stella McCartney and Gucci. The two winners — one in ready-to-wear and one in accessories — will also be featured on The Fancy, a combination magazine/shopping guide/social network, and showcased at Barneys New York‘s Madison Ave store in September.

Centered on PPR’s “Empowering Imagination” theme, the competition is designed to stimulate new ideas at PPR’s stable of brands.

Today, a panel of judges including model Dree Hemingway, Vogue‘s Candy Pratts Price and Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman, will whittle down the top 20 candidates to five finalists based on their thesis collections and how well they exemplify the theme. The five finalists will then have their collections featured on The Fancy in mid-June with the winning look and accessory voted on by the public.

“Partnering with PPR and The Fancy,” said Simon Collins, dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons, “will provide our students with an international perspective, thus positioning them as design thinkers poised to lead fashion globally.”

The winners, announced at the end of June, will receive an expense-paid internship up to $10,000 at the PPR label of their choice.[WWD, sub req'd]

Bieber’s First Fragrance – Feminine, Fruity and Floral

Just like the boy himself. Justin Bieber got in touch with his inner lady — it didn’t take much doing — and is coming out with a women’s fragrance — cue the ear-piercing shrieks of girls the world over.

Someday by Justin Bieber, his first fragrance, was born out of the Bieb’s “deep connection” with his fans and his desire to “bring them closer to [his] world.” And being the nauseatingly wholesome gal he is, proceeds from the perfume will go to a Bieber-approved list of charities including Pencils of Promise and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Everything about Someday is meant to appeal to Bieber’s screeching fanbase of tweens, teens and pedos, from the fruity floral juice to the heart-shaped bottle top and the removable charms about the bottle neck. There’s even a hair mist and a body lotion in addition to the 1 oz, 1.7 oz and 3.4 oz versions of the perfume.

If you’re as excited as I am — preferably more since I couldn’t care less — Someday will be shipping to a store near you in June, such as Macy’s, Sephora, Dillard’s and Nordstrom. Meanwhile, Bieber BFF Terry Richardson shot Dree Hemingway for the print ad…once again appealing to the tweens, teens and pedos that make up the pop tart’s bread and butter. [WWD]

I love that fur is back in for fall, both faux and real. Which lady rocked this trend best? I love the natural, understated look as well as the over-the-top colorful one. I guess I’ll have to get one of each for my closet…

Yes ladies, overalls are in this spring. Jean Paul Gaultier and Ralph Lauren had this bright idea of bringing back denim overalls for the spring, which I'm not a fan off. Rihanna has been spotted rocking the overalls and so have some other celebs who want to jump on the bandwagon. It was only a matter of time until the high street stores like H&M, ASOS and Topshop got to cranking on cheaper versions of the runway looks for spring. H&M enlisted the help of Dree Hemingway for its spring 2010 magazine editorial, Spring Feelings. Besides the overalls, which I vehemently object to, everything else in the editorial is absolutely darling. The store has definitely vamped up its style quotient with some of the cutest dresses and denim combinations that won't break the bank.

Dree Hemingway graces the cover of Vogue Russia, I’m happy it’s for a foreign country so I don’t have to see it on every news stand I walk past. We all know Miss Hemingway is only famous because of her last name, and I don’t even mind her up and coming It-Girl status but I am not a fan of this cover. I love the styling and it works well with the vintage theme we have been seeing, but her face here is totally off.

Totally in hearts with this girls look, but more importantly her name. Dree Hemingway is one of the freshest models on the block and shares the moniker of one of my favorite authors. The reason being of course is cause Ernest is the girlies great-grandfather. Anyways she was spotted at the Big Apple Ballet opening this week by WWD. Really liking the look especially the mane.

On a side note, who’s the dude with the pocketbook in the back. Poor pussy got stuck holding his girlfriends baggage and got caught by the lack-of-style police. Better luck next time small stuff.
