Clueless (1995)- If this 90′s classic wasn’t already on your top 10 movies list of style and rich girl ways well then start jotting! Alicia Silverstone is the best prepster out there, and no matter how old we are or how many fashion trends pass by Clueless will always remain a fashion favorite… through knee-high socks, more than enough argyle to handle, feminine school girl blazzers and especially because Britney Murphy was in it too!

Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion (1997)- A little on the dumb-ass side and I’m pretty sure no one would wear as much metallic and glitter as these two on screen best friends, but it’s still fun to watch their adventure in going back to their high school reunion and dominating the Madonna-inspired blasts from the pasts.

Spice World (1997)- Victoria Beckham‘s style may be taking over the style headlines a lot more than the Spice Girls do now, but it doesn’t mean that we would ever forget baby spice, scary spice, ginger spice, posh spice, sporty spice, or any other spices that I’m forgetting in between!

Jawbreaker (1999)- Catty and backstabbing what other way would a girl like their movies, when you accidentally kill your best friend in your favorite pumps?

The Virgin Suicides (1999)- When it comes to Kristen Dunst’s careless ways she makes any film look awesome! Sofia Coppola (director) filmed the movie in an angelic sort of sunlight state, and with the simplicity of the style on the girls, from sundresses to school outfits, the obsession of five boys falling in love with mysterious sisters begins, and they watch them on the road to suicide.

Factory Girl (2006)- Starring Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick a muse of all muses for the New York City life style of Andy Warhol. Not to mention, Mary-Kate Olsen gets her five minutes of fame getting to rock the furs and the smoking glam of this crazy 1960′s fashion filled film.

500 Days of Summer (2009)- Zooey Deschanel would be the perfect heart breaking type girl, with her vintage dresses and humorous ways as she completes every girls dream to crush the boy who’s insanely in love with her in nonchalant ways.

Whip It (2009)- Ellen Page plays a rebellious small town girl who creates a wicked life for herself in Austin, TX. And along with Drew Barrymoore and Landon Pigg she rocks her indie-child style with combat boots, random skirts, and bizarre rock band tees!

The Runaways (2010)- When hearing the names Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart you don’t normally think of one on one girl make out sessions or drug addict… which in their case would be a good thing but luckily these two actresses rocked the hell out of bringing the Joan Jett and Cherie Curie’s wild child style to life!

Black Swan (2010)- Obviously what kind of timeline would this be without listing Natalie Portman’s surprise act of dealing with perfection and giving us a mental image of just how good Rodarte ballet wear could be!

I love, love, love Drew Barrymore and respect her sense of style and usual against-the-grain attitude. But I do not love orange sacks worn to save money on clothing after the potatoes are gone. This electric wad of fabric is from the Jil Sander spring 2011 collection. This is what is looked like on the runway:

As you can see, the ruched seam is supposed to sit at or around the knee. On Drew, it seems to fall under the knee. The hem is too long and it drowns her. This dress is obviously meant for a tall woman who eats nothing at all. Drew has such a gorgeous body, so I have no idea why she chose this from probably the hundreds of dresses her stylist had for her. But, she doesn’t look terrible, she took a risk and I still love her to death, so her grade is:

1. Go back to being a redhead. Everyone and their enabling mother is blonde in Hollywood these days. Linds looked her best with her natural auburn tresses, in spite of that tacky “Firecrotch” comment from that bloated piece of trash, Brandon Davis.

2. Take the Oscar bait. I’ve always regarded Lindsay as one of the more talented actresses of her generation. She has what few possess and what is impossible to teach: star quality. Oscar-winners Meryl Streep and Jane Fonda have both sung her praises, but she’s not going to get that little man dipped in gold with crap like Just My Luck and I Know Who Killed Me. She needs to take a challenging role that no one will touch — especially since no one will touch her right now — and prove that she’s a legitimate actress. With that said, I need her to gain 300 lbs and play a lesbian who dies from cancer during the Holocaust.

3. Put out a dance record. Though her singing career is on the same shaky ground as her acting career, Lindsay had a few good dance-pop songs during her stretch as a recording artist. Case in point, the 2004 masterwork “Rumors” and 2008′s equally-infectious “Bossy.” Throw that raspy voice over a pounding bass beat and the gays will come running — it’s like our Bat Signal.

4. Avoid the paparazzi. Lindsay managed to sustain her career, or at least her presence in the pop culture zeitgeist, through her love/hate relationship with the paps, but she’s not a Paris Hilton or a Kim Kardashian. She actually has talent. Therefore, she doesn’t have to resort to cheap tricks to keep her name in the headlines. Also, a little downtime might do her good; it builds a little mystery and in this age of over-exposure it would be a nice change of pace to be able to wonder what someone is doing instead of seeing their vagina spread all over the internet.

5. Kill Emma Stone.  There’s only room for one husky-voiced, redheaded starlet in Tinseltown and Emma has all but usurped Lohan’s niche, thanks in part to her wonderful, (Golden Globe-nominated) performance in Easy A. As much as I love Emma, Lindsay was here first and I’ve already invested the past 7 years of my life into Team Lilo. Now that she (somehow) has her license back, she can easily run Emma down at her Starbucks of choice and floor it out of there before anyone’s the wiser.

As she tweeted on New Year’s Day, this is the first day of the rest of her life. If Britney Spears and Drew Barrymore can get  it together, there’s hope for Lindsay.

Puck is back and so is his mohawk. That’s the good news. The bad news is that Schue is making the New Directions kids compete in their second annual boys v. girls sing-off. Usually, I’m on the girls’s side, but the boys managed to pull it through in the end. Now let’s explore how that happened.

Puck is out of juvie on the condition that he perform community service, so he “hangs with some crips,” taking on Artie as his community service. He decides to make Artie cool and get him a date with Brittany, for whom Artie still pines. Ain’t that the way it goes? You take a boy’s virginity while trying to make your sapphic bff jealous and then they want to get all clingy.

Cue the first musical number, an uninspired take on Bob Marley’s “One Love/People Get Ready”, which Puck uses to filch money from the student body; money purportedly to be used on a double date with Artie, Brittany and Santana. After their date, where Artie refuses to dine and dash (how well he could have dashed in a wheelchair remains a mystery) he and Puck reach a new level of understanding.

Puck’s time in the clink was not the breeze he claimed it to be. Rather, he hated juvie because he was bullied there every day. So Artie decides to make Puck his community service and tutor him in algebra as Puck performs his real civic duty: picking up trash on the side of the road.

Meanwhile, Kurt unwillingly joins the boys team, but is happy when Schue introduces the stipulation that the boys and girls have to sing songs traditionally sung by female performers. Kurt soon finds his input unwanted and wanders off to all boys prep school, Dalton Academy to spy on their competition for Sectionals, The Warblers.  There he meets the adorable and dreamy Blaine (Darren Criss), another openly gay gal who is the leader of The Warblers. Kurt immediately falls for the crooner, as he and his allegedly heterosexual brethren chime out an a cappella rendition of “Teenage Dream.”

Kurt is inspired by Blaine’s openness and decides to stand up to Karofsky, the meathead football player who’s been tormenting him since season/day one. Kurt angrily confronts Karofsky but receives an unexpected reaction when Karofsky kisses him. Yes, Karofsky is one of those Larry Craig-esque self-hating gays who lashes out against other queers out of his own rage. Much like my idol Karen Walker said, he should save that anger for the bedroom where it belongs.

Coach Beiste (the wonderful Dot Marie Jones) becomes an unlikely victim of bullying herself when Sam begins using her as a sexual deterrent against Quinn’s cockteasing wiles. The trend spreads and the boys in glee (and Tina against the prudish Mike Chang) start imagining Beiste in various compromising positions to cool their sexual embers. When Schue finds out, he does what he thinks is the right thing and tells the coach, who in turn quits.

Sue Sylvester is elated at the developments and rejoices in a storm of confetti, cackling her evil head off. Schue later consoles the wounded Beiste, who’s really a big softie under that large, mannish façade. When she reveals that, like Drew Barrymore, she too has never been kissed, Will kindly obliges and invites her to the auditorium. The boys perform a fierce mash-up of “Stop! In the Name of Love/Free Your Mind,” a la the Four Tops, and all is forgiven.

In the middle of all this bullying, the writers forgot the girls were supposed to perform sot they tacked on a mash-up of “Start Me Up/Livin’ on a Prayer,” that, despite seeming like an afterthought, was predictably amazing.

This episode was certainly skimpy on the musical numbers, a total of four, which often leaves the viewer wondering when the singing and dancing will start up again. This faces the other extreme presented by last week’s episode, “The Rocky Horror Glee Show,” which had too many musical numbers and not enough plot. But in order to advance things and keep everyone entertained, it behooves the show to tilt from one extreme to another.

The surprise gay kiss between Kurt and the bully was a great choice, giving another, nuanced angle to Kurt’s continuing gay self-discovery storyline. Let’s just hope he and Blaine get it on at some point. For now, Blaine is more of a mentor to Kurt, inspiring him to stand up to Karofsky and even helping to confront the bully about his own sexuality. But this could all just be a set-up for the inevitable virginity-busting threesome that is part of every young gay’s coming of age.

Next week’s episode guest stars alleged Oscar-winner, Gwyneth Paltrow, but I hope they continue with the Drew Barrymore-themed titles for episodes.

Like “The Wedding Singer,” in which Rachel and Finn decide to quit school and elope only to find that their lives will mirror the sorry fate of  the singer at their tacky Vegas wedding, who, it turns out, is Sue Sylvester’s black sheep of a sister, played by Jennifer Coolidge.

Or “He’s Just Not That Into You,” when Sue develops a crush on Schue and goes all Fatal Attraction on him when her feelings aren’t reciprocated, boling his hair gel in a crock pot.

Or “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” where Kurt, Mercedes and Santana form a singing/dancing crime fighting trio with Sue as Charlie.

Remember when we all laughed at Lohan’s shenanigans? The daily amusement that came from the trainwreck that is her life provided a modicum of comfort in an otherwise uncomfortable world.

And while there’s still some light chortling, seriously, when is homegirl going to get her shit together? Drew Barrymore was hooked on coke while still in kindergarten, yet she managed to get her shit together.

Maybe Lindsay will appear in the first 5 minutes of Scream 4, be killed and then embark on a much-needed comeback, rife with sub-par romantic comedies and a big picture remake of a 70s TV show.

Or maybe she’ll go to jail for a few months where she’ll become a full-blown dyke, then three days after her release, she’ll get caught smoking meth and continue on this downward spiral that seems to have no end.

Either way, I still want to see that remake of Maude.

On Being Perfect:
“You have to not pretend to be perfect, because that’s not only boring as fuck, but it’s just not real…So I feel so liberated in that way. I just really want to be true to myself. That’s essential in life. I would never be able to put on a charade. I would totally fuck it up.”

On why she’s not afraid to get older: “I don’t want to be vain or fearful, and I don’t think I’ll do anything in terms of plastic surgery, but if I want to do something, I will. From my perspective, there’s no reason to be afraid of aging, because if you age, you’re lucky! The alternative is death.”

Angelina Jolie is rumored to play the Wicked Witch of the West?!? Say it ain’t so. Don’t get me wrong, I love Angelina Jolie. I love her enough to tell her not to do this, as it is NOT the role of a lifetime. Gia was that for her. Forget about Angelina Jolie for a minute and let’s just discuss why anyone in Hollywood thinks they have what it takes to take on the challenge of remaking The Wizard of Oz. And please don’t tell me that Tim Burton wants to do it. Though he is brilliant and everything, his technicolor weirdness would just get in the way of this great, simple, classic story. I am sure that his wife Helena Bonham Carter would insist on playing the Wicked Witch of the West. Then there’s Jerry Bruckheimer, who yields all sorts of power in Hollywood, kind of like the Wizard as it were, who has tackled the romantic comedy genre with Confessions of a Shopaholic, and would see this as his greatest feat. Please Lord…just say no. The reason why The Wiz worked (though it was really bad) was by redoing it as a black, urban production, you took that leap of faith. Michael Jackson as Dorothy felt very natural because in essence, he was Dorothy, and lived out that fantasy till his untimely death. And Diana Ross as old Dorothy was a goddess….so we forgave her. I mean she was The Boss.

I still say, “Don’t do this…anyone”. So let’s say I am out numbered, they greenlight the remake and the casting begins. Can I at least make my suggestions? Rather than try to make The New Improved Loud Wizard of Oz, a big gaudy production, why not do an eight party TV series with all the best reality show stars.

Dorothy: Rachel Uchitel…ask Gloria Allred, she is a damsel in distress and dying to be an actress.

Scarecrow: Jake Pavelka (The Bachelor)….he will do anything to stay on television.

Tin Man: Jesse James, this might be the only way to remotely make him watchable. And when he starts boo-hooing about cheating on Sandra, Rachel (Dorothy) can oil him up. Chances are though, they will get caught fucking in Enchanted Forest. (Lions and tigers and skanks…oh, my.)

The Lion: Clay Aiken, after his stint on Broadway, he is a shoe-in for this role. A gay wuss.

The Wizard: Jill Zarin, come on…she is THE biggest know it all. And the changing up of the sex for this casting is a stroke of genius.

Glenda, The Good Witch: Indrani, (a.k.a. Cougar Lesbian) though you may not know her yet, she is the star of the upcoming Bravo-TV series, Double Exposure. You’ll see why I say she should do it. That is if you Watch What Happens.

So, can we now all agree with my first statement and LET’S NOT DO THIS!!!

Another award show, another bash offered by André Leon Talley! Although I agree with him mostly, his naming of Penélope Cruz (she looked like an old lady) as best dressed really made me question his other decisions. I agreed on Drew Barrymore (my worst dressed of the evening) yet completely disagreed on Diane Kruger (who looked gorgeous in a mustard colored dress). Read his article here.

In my opinion, the worst dressed actress at the SAG Awards had to be Drew Barrymore. I hated the dress, which made her look frumpy, and she put no effort into her hair or makeup (or nails for that matter). Overall a terrible look, especially since she was up for an award. Anyone agree?

Drew Barrymore must have hit her head and woke up thinking she was M.I.A, because her poor outfit choice indicates that she’s a cracked-out hipster. Just because our little Sri Lankan rapper can pull off the crazy tie-dye tights and see-through tops doesn’t mean that Barrymore, pushing 40, should even attempt. I don’t care if her acting debut started with ET, Barrymore needs to come back to planet earth and realize that she looks like a fool.

Drew Barrymore got glammed up in Alberta Ferretti for a Roaring Twenties-inspired look. Accented with a small veil and classic red lipstick, the nude, sequined gown looked perfect on Drew, and not costumey.

The CAA Golden Globes were anything but groundbreaking this year. As always, P. Diddy stood out amongst the hundreds of black ties and tuxedos in his sleek, oversized bow-tie, Angelina Jolie sucked back on Heinekens while the rest of her table sipped champagne and Drew Barrymore looked like she got hit by a speeding semi. Although her dress reminded me of a cross between Ariel and Jasmine from their respective Disney movies, I could barely focus on her fashion faux pas because I was too busy staring at her rat’s nest hair. Roots showing, fly-aways galore, messy curls and a mane full of secrets (thank you Mean Girls) is not the way to look at a prestigious awards event. Oh, and Drew might want to brush with Crest Extra-White toothpaste next time…

Let me start out by saying that I find Drew Barrymore incredibly photogenic. And I don’t think you should stop doing magazine covers just because you’re over 30. And I’m down with Pop.

But I don’t find Drew much of a fashion muse, and I don’t know why Alasdair McLellan would agree to shoot such an unimaginative story for Pop’s 20th anniversary / animals / winter issue. On one hand, a casual look in an interesting choice for such a high-profile celebrity, and Drew looks cute; but… it’s a tad lacking.

Okay, is it just me or is Drew Barrymore (whose definitely pushing 40) trying a bit too hard to appear…youthful. I mean, she was just juggling the “I’m a Mac” guys balls in her mouth and now she’s channeling her inner grungette by sporting dual toned, missmatched Converse on the streets. I can’t stand this look cause it screams of inner angst, a look that’s only cool when your 13-16 and your parents refuse to drive you to the mall, of course in the normal youths lifespan this ends when you get your license. In Drews, it seems like it’ll never go away.

Drew Barrymore had always been adorable, but her fashion sense was never great throughout the 90s and early 21^st century. That has all changed recently…she’s been looking fabulous. I’m not sure if she found better stylist or came to her own senses, but it’s working marvelously!
