Apparently, the women’s designer department of the Chelsea Loehmann’s has tons of merchandise from the Barny’s sale.
FIRST LOOK: DSquared2 for MAC Cosmetics

Beauty collaborations have been a bit boring lately (Christian Siriano for Vicky Secret for example), but this one looks a bit edgy. Loving the fuchsia looking lipstick, and the bright blue eye pencils.

Dsquared2 Launch Their Own Radio Show

Dean and Dan Caten, the brothers behind Dsquared2, are launching their own radio show, which airs on May 5th on Sirius satellite radio’s BPM channel.
The boys will play all their favorite music, including bits from their runway soundtracks. And aside from their own witty commentary, they’ll have interviews with some of their closest friends – actresses, musicians – to talk about fashion and life in general.
ADDICT: More of DSquared S/S 2009

We brought you the initial image from DSquared’s S/S 2009 ad campaign a couple weeks ago, and now the rest have been released. Linda fights Naomi some more, and then they have a little cuddle.
TRENDSPARK: Twins On The Runway

The fellows of Dsquared were not the only twins spotted on the runway this past week in Milan. The week had many different offerings of duos walking the runway together. Is this a new trend in fashion? Two for the price of one?

These weren’t all the twins spotted, and I bet we’ll see some more as runway season pushes on.

Obama To Welcome In New Era With Style

President Elect Obama is geting ready to take office, and the hype about who’s designs he is going to wear on inaguarion day are already swirling. WWD is hosting a crap ton of pictures from all the biggest designers of their designs for the soon to be President’s suits on the historic day. Designers like Marc Jacobs, Sean John, D Squared, Ferragamo, Thom Browne and Rag and Bone have all submitted designs. For all the images head over to WWD and check them out.
PS: Does this completely annoy anyone else besides me? He’s our President to be who cares what he’s wearing? All that matters is that he does something to turn our country around. I in no way hope this happens, but what happens if he flops as a President? Talk about a lot of people being embarassed.

At the DSquared show, ski met ska as the Caten twins sent looks down the runway that merged a London street style sensibility with the warm, active looks of a ski bum. The boys created an elaborate backdrop to set the mood: a wintry Boystown with fire escapes, a tavern, and a blistering snowstorm. Bleached denim, leather MC jackets, skinny braces and tiny white button front shirts set the London mood while luxurious parkas and chubbies, ski pants and chunky sweaters were all about the slopes. The result was less camp and more saleable than past collections, for sure.

Usher Gets Dsquared

Usher’s new CD may suck major balls, but at least he’ll look good prancing around on stage to that crap. For his new tour Usher was styled by the Dsquared duo Dean and Dan Caten. Now if they could just convince him to take off those stupid glasses.

TrendSpark: Unexpected Models

This season, we’ve seen some of the most surprising male models hit the runways. First, Vivienne Westwood sends out beef cake bodyguards, then DSquared showcased an almost all ethnic cast, now Yohji Yamamoto sent out several gray-haired models who were over 60, one of whom happened to be artist-turned-filmmaker Steve McQueen, who just won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival. “The situation is, I’m not a skinny white boy, I’m the complete opposite,” McQueen told the AP. “I heard the audience gasp a bit when I came in.”
Is this the designers way of saying that clothes can be worn by anyone, whether hot male model or old guy? I guess it works, but that really defeats the purpose of having hotties on the catwalk!

DSquared Expands

DSquared, which will christen its new store in Capri with a party this week, is on track to open five more stores by December.
The stores will stretch the globe: Kiev and Istanbul are planned for the end of May, Hong Kong in September, Moscow in mid-October and Dubai by December. An in-store shop at Saks Fifth Avenue in Los Angeles is also on the drawing board for August.

Runway: DSquared, Resort Collection, Winter 08

For their inaugural cruise collection, Dean and Dan Caten focused on dapper and luxe pieces that juxtaposed uptown chic with resort casual. Key looks ranged from tailored suiting to a belted dress that evoked a trenchcoat.
