Win Front Row Seats at Duckie Brown

Edited by

The men of Duckie Brown are dishing out some hefty real estate. They’re giving away two front row seats to their Fall 2012 runway show, and we have their shoe collaboration to thank for it (and we should also thank them for the stunning shoe collaboration to begin with). What I love about each Duckie Brown show is that the progression of clothing evolves, usually beginning in a muted place, then exploding with beautiful experimentation to the end. You can win highly coveted tickets to this exclusive runway show by giving them your style opinions. More details after the jump.

#NYFW Round-Up: FashionIndie’s Faves from New York Spring 2012

Edited by

There’s a definite consensus around the FashionIndie office regarding this season at the tents: lackluster. Gone was the excitement and the thrill of the new and in its stead stood a circus comprised of the old guard impatiently appraising the crop of would-be streetstyle stars and the army of bloggers hanging about as they waded through the muck of the nameless and the irrelevant to find a collection onto which to pin their ever-dwindling hopes . Still, there were a few shows that set the five barely-beating hearts of FashionIndie racing and had our backs aching to be clothed in their bright and bold designs.

A Mother’s Day Gift Guide for Your Gay Dad

Edited by

Sometimes a boy falls in love with another boy and they start dating. Then, if avoiding the usual pitfalls of gay romance – such as open relationships, meth addiction, and generally being a human male – they may travel to one of the five states where they’re allowed to legally recognize their union and/or travel to an African or Eastern Asian nation for their pick of needy orphans. Other options include paying their way through the American adoption system or finding a willing lesbian with a free uterus, but no matter the method of conception, eventually there is a baby and it is showered with love and attention from various uncles and aunts of varying gender identities. And that baby will, if avoiding the usual pitfalls of adolescence – such as puberty, meth addiction and generally being a human teenager – they may turn out to be well-adjusted member of society. So after all that work and all that love and all those years bringing you up with a full knowledge of the Liza Minnelli canon, shouldn’t you show your appreciation with the best gifts possible for your gay dad(s) this Mother’s Day?

The Heavy Pets get Fashionably Rocked

Edited by

FashionIndie’s styling adventure with The Heavy Pets, an explosive rock-funk-jam band, began Wednesday. They’ve got to look fly for their concert TONIGHT (3/18) at the Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg. Thus, lead singer and guitarist Jeff Lloyd came along on this sartorial journey as the band ambassador, and tried on clothes with equal parts wariness and enthusiasm. The goal was to capture the sound of The Heavy Pets through this evolving look. We ran the gamut on the levels of fashion starting on high in the Maguire Steele PR showroom, rode the fast wave biggies like Zara, and rummaged through thrift treasures at Beacon’s Closet. The Pets scored some serious swag, and also hopefully learned a thing or two about the art of shopping and dressing. Check our before post to see what we’re working with, and see their new clothes after the jump.

Duckie Brown Bag Laddy Chic

Edited by

As soon as Steven Cox and Daniel Silver sent down the first look — a smoke grey front arm sweater and matching wrap trouser — for Duckie Brown‘s Fall 2011 collection, I knew I had found the rest of my Fashion Week wardrobe. Slouchy sweaters, baggy trousers, sacks as far as the eye could see…I was ready to commit grand theft couture.
